Overview
Items in Crimson Desert encompass everything Kliff and the Greymane mercenaries can carry, craft, or collect while exploring the continent of Pywel. The game organizes items into several distinct categories: Gatherables (raw materials sourced from the environment), Recovery Items (cooked food and provisions that restore health and spirit), Collectibles (decorative objects for the Greymane Camp), Key Items (quest-related objects), Horse Items (mount equipment and feed), Crafting Manuals (recipes and blueprints), Abyss Cores (socketable equipment buffs), Dyes (cosmetic gear coloring), and Projectiles (ammunition for ranged weapons).
Inventory System
Crimson Desert uses a slot-based inventory rather than a weight limit. Players start with 50 inventory slots. Consumables and materials stack up to 50 identical items per slot, while weapons and armor each occupy one slot regardless of type. Nondescript items such as recipes, scrolls, and books also consume individual slots.
Inventory capacity can be expanded by acquiring bags, which come in three sizes. Small Bags add one slot and cost 50 copper from merchants. Medium Bags grant three additional slots, and Large Bags grant five. Bags are obtained through quest rewards or purchased from vendors found in major towns across Pywel. Checking the Journal under Faction Quests and previewing rewards before accepting is a good way to prioritize quests that offer bag rewards.
Gatherables
Gatherables are raw materials found throughout the open world. They serve as ingredients for cooking, crafting, and alchemy. Gatherables are organized into several subcategories based on their origin and use.
Meats
Meat is obtained by hunting animals across Pywel. Different creatures yield different quality tiers of meat, which directly affects the potency of cooked dishes.

Recovery Items
Recovery items are prepared foods that restore health, spirit, and sometimes grant temporary resistance buffs. They are crafted through the cooking system using a bonfire or a camp cooking station. Each recipe comes in multiple quality tiers depending on the ingredients used: basic, Filling, Satisfying, Modest, and Hearty. Higher-tier versions of the same dish offer substantially better restoration values.
Grilled Dishes
Grilled dishes are the simplest cooking recipes, prepared directly over a fire. They primarily restore health.
Dish | Base Effect | Notes |
|---|---|---|
+80 HP | Basic meat dish | |
+100 HP | Requires fish fillet | |
+60 HP | Small catch | |
+140 HP | Large catch | |

Soups and Porridges
Soups and porridges are prepared in a field pot. They restore both health and spirit, making them some of the most valuable recovery items in the game.

+200 HP, +20 Spirit | Meat and grain simmered together | |
+180 HP, +18 Spirit | Fish and grain porridge | |

Filling | Medium recipes with improved restoration and occasional secondary effects |
Satisfying | Larger recipes with strong restoration values |

Tips
Prioritize expanding inventory space early by purchasing Small Bags from vendors for 50 copper each and completing quests that reward bags.
Recovery items are single-use consumables. Stock up on Hearty-tier soups before tackling difficult bosses or Abyss dungeons.
Gatherables stack up to 50 per slot, so collecting raw materials in bulk is efficient for long exploration sessions.
Crafting manuals are one-time-use items that permanently teach a recipe. Check vendor inventories regularly for new manuals.
Abyss Cores require a Witch NPC to install or remove. Plan core builds carefully, as swapping cores at a Witch may cost resources.
Collectibles placed at the Greymane Camp contribute to the camp's ambiance and track progress in the Knowledge System.
Horse equipment stacks with the horse's base stats. Investing in Hernandian-tier horse gear noticeably improves mounted combat and traversal.
