Overview
Sugar is a cooking seasoning in Crimson Desert that spreads a rich sweetness as it melts smoothly in the mouth. It deepens the flavor of any dish as a tempting ingredient and can be purchased at grocer shops throughout Pywel. Sugar is one of the standard seasonings stocked by grocers across the game world, sitting alongside Salt and Cooking Oil as a basic supply every cook should carry. While it can be consumed raw for a small Spirit boost, its real value comes from the recipes that call for it.

Where to Buy
Sugar is available for purchase at grocer shops in Hernand and other towns throughout the world. Grocer shops are the standard retail vendors for cooking ingredients and seasonings. Sugar is always in stock and sells for a low price, making it easy to buy in bulk.
Vendor inventories restock every few in-game days. If you buy out a grocer's full supply of Sugar during a single visit, simply rest at a camp or complete a quest and return later to purchase more. The grocer in Hernand Town is the earliest accessible source for most players, located near the market square.
Sugar is also stocked by grocers in Demeniss, Kharonso, and other settlements you unlock as the story progresses. Prices are consistent across all vendors, so there is no advantage to shopping at one grocer over another.
Recipes Using Sugar
Sugar appears as an ingredient in several cooking and drink recipes. Its primary role is adding sweetness to dishes and beverages, and it pairs well with fruit-based ingredients.
Recipe | Ingredients | Effect | Station |
|---|---|---|---|
Cauldron | |||
Fruit Jam | 2 Berry, 1 Sugar | Bonfire | |
Sweet Porridge | Bonfire |
Note that recipe availability depends on which recipe scrolls you have discovered through exploration, quest rewards, or shop purchases. Check your recipe list at a bonfire or cauldron to see which dishes currently require Sugar.
Sell Price
Sugar can be sold to any general vendor for a small amount of copper. However, because it is inexpensive and used in multiple recipes, selling Sugar is not recommended. The copper gained from selling a stack of Sugar is negligible compared to the value of the meals and drinks it helps produce.
Comparison to Other Seasonings
Sugar, Salt, and Cooking Oil are the three standard seasonings available from grocer shops. Each serves a different purpose in recipes:
Seasoning | Raw Effect | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|
Sugar | Spirit +1.0 | Sweet dishes, fruit-based recipes, drinks |
Spirit +1.0 | Roasted meats, fish dishes, rice cakes | |
None | Fried and battered dishes |
Tips
Buy Sugar in bulk whenever you visit a grocer. It is cheap and takes up minimal inventory space.
Sugar provides a small Spirit +1.0 bonus when consumed raw, but cooking it into meals yields far greater benefits.
Keep a supply of all three seasonings (Sugar, Salt, Cooking Oil) on hand so you are always ready to cook when you discover new recipes.
If you run out of Sugar while away from town, check your recipe list for alternative dishes that do not require it.
