Overview
The Cogwheel is a mechanical crafting material in Crimson Desert described in-game as a component that sustains mechanical lifeforms. It is obtained primarily by defeating mechanical enemies and small mechs scattered throughout Pywel. Cogwheels are essential for crafting the ATAG Mech and other mechanical devices, making them one of the most important mechanical materials in the game.
You will need at least 300 Cogwheels to craft the full All-Terrain Armored Gear (ATAG), plus additional Cogwheels for other mechanical crafting recipes. Farming them efficiently is important for players pursuing the mech unlock.

How to Obtain
Cogwheels drop from mechanical enemies, including both small and large mechs. The most reliable sources are in the Delesyia region, where mechanical enemies are most concentrated.
Best Farming Locations
Delesyia Bridge Road (Recommended)
On the right side of the map in Delesyia, where a bridge connects to the island on the far right, just north of the Man's area. This is one of the best spots to farm Cogwheels because small and large mechs patrol these roads constantly. Simply engage the patrolling mechs, defeat them, and loot the Cogwheels they drop. There is never a shortage of enemies here, making it a very consistent and efficient farming location.
Man's Steel Armory
Located slightly west of the Delesyia bridge area. If you have not cleared this location yet, it offers excellent Cogwheel farming. The area has multiple mechs guarding the front gate. If you avoid entering the actual facility and only clear the enemies at the front, three small mechs will continuously spawn as reinforcements. You can repeat-farm these reinforcements over and over, as they drop Cogwheels, Small Batteries, and Lubricant reliably each time. The small mechs die very quickly, making this a fast farming cycle.
Dispatch Missions
If you have unlocked it, the Man's Masterium dispatch mission called Cog Wheel Production allows you to passively generate Cogwheels. You will need to have fully cleared the Man's Masterium camp and completed any required research at the Delesyia Research Institute to access this dispatch. You can also donate to the church to increase your conversion bonus, which nets you more Cogwheels per dispatch run.

Best Dispatch Source
For players who are investing in mech systems or late-game crafting lines like Kuku Gear, the best passive source of Cogwheels is the Cogwheel Production dispatch mission at Marni's Mysterium. Cogwheels are consumed in large quantities by high-tier mechanical upgrades, and hand-crafting them is slow, which makes passive dispatch farming the most practical way to keep up with demand.
Unlock Requirements
Unlocking the Cogwheel Production mission follows the standard dispatch knowledge pattern, with one extra research gate in some cases.
Travel to Marni's Mysterium and either visit the site or clear the camp if the area is contested. This is the baseline knowledge unlock, which is enough on its own to add the Mysterium to your dispatch menu.
In some cases the Cogwheel Production mission will not appear in the dispatch UI until you have completed the relevant research project at the Delesyia Institute. If the mission is missing after visiting the Mysterium, check your research progression and queue the matching project at the Delesyia Institute to surface the dispatch slot.
Once both conditions are satisfied, slot the Cogwheel Production mission into rotation and let your grey mains and hired workers handle the grind while you focus on other content.
Pair Cogwheel Production with the Lubricant Production dispatch at Sargen Tankworks and the Small Battery dispatch at the Aeronautical Research Base for a complete passive mechanical resource pipeline. All three missions stack with regional Conversion Bonus donations, so investing camp money into the relevant church further increases per-run output.
Tips
Farm Cogwheels and Small Batteries at the same time, as they drop from the same mech enemies.
The Man's Steel Armory reinforcement loop is faster than roaming, but requires you to not have fully cleared the interior.
Stock up on extra Cogwheels beyond the 300 needed for the ATAG, as other crafting recipes also require them.
Use dispatch missions for passive Cogwheel generation while you do other activities.
