How to Obtain
Thick Hide drops from skinning giant mammals. These are large animals that require more effort to hunt than small prey.
Elk: Found in highland meadows and open plains.
Aurochs: Large bovines encountered in grasslands.
Other giant mammals: Any large mammal species may drop Thick Hide when skinned.

Buying from the Tannery is the safest alternative when you need Thick Hide without risking combat against large, dangerous animals.
Farming Route
The most efficient farming route for Thick Hide targets the rhino spawn near the northern fast travel point. Fast travel there, hunt the rhinos, collect the hides, and then fast travel back. Rhinos always respawn at this location, so you can repeat the route indefinitely. Each rhino hunt also yields Large Bone, making it a two-for-one farming opportunity.
Tips
Prioritize hunting giant mammals when you encounter them. Thick Hide is needed for the best armor upgrades and is harder to find than Thin Hide.
