Overview
Provisions are single-use consumable items in Crimson Desert that restore health, replenish spirit, and sometimes grant temporary elemental resistances. They are the primary way to heal outside of Abyss Core recovery effects, and having a well-stocked supply of provisions is essential for tackling tough fights and Abyss Dungeons. Provisions are crafted from raw ingredients gathered while exploring Pywel, and each recipe scales across four quality tiers that increase both the material cost and the strength of the effect.
Cooking Tools
Different types of provisions require different cooking tools. The tool you use determines which recipes are available:
Tool | Provisions Type | How to Access |
|---|---|---|
Cooking Field Tool | Grilled items (meat, fish, vegetables, grains, eggs) | Portable; can be placed anywhere in the field |
Field Cooking Pot | Soups, porridges, rice cakes, battered dishes | Portable; requires water source nearby |
Campfire | All basic grilled items plus fish skewers | Found at camps and rest points |
Cauldron | Dyes, elixirs, special items | Found at workshops and certain town locations |
The Cooking Field Tool and Field Cooking Pot are portable, meaning you can set them up in the middle of exploration and cook provisions on the spot. Crafting Manuals are required to unlock most recipes beyond the most basic grilled items.
Quality Tiers
Most provisions come in four quality tiers. Higher tiers require more ingredients but provide stronger recovery effects:
Tier | Prefix | Ingredient Multiplier | Effect Range |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | (base name, no prefix) | 1x | +60 to +280 Health |
2 | Filling | ~3x | +100 to +360 Health |
3 | Satisfying | ~5x | +140 to +460 Health |
4 | Hearty | ~10x | +180 to +700 Health |
The base tier uses minimal ingredients and is good for quick snacks during exploration. Hearty-tier provisions require large amounts of ingredients but can fully heal you in a single use during boss fights.
Grilled Provisions
Grilled items are the simplest provisions. They require only a single ingredient type and a Cooking Field Tool. No crafting manual is needed for the most basic grilled items:
Recipe | Base Ingredient | Health | Spirit |
|---|---|---|---|
Grilled Meat | Tough Meat x1 | +80 | 0 |
Grilled Bird Meat | Lean Bird Meat x1 | +60 | 0 |
Grilled Vegetables | Onion x1 | 0 | +4 |
Grilled Fruit | Raspberry x1 | 0 | +4 |
Smoked Eggs | Egg x1 | +60 | 0 |
Toasted Grains | Lentils x1 | +60 | 0 |
Small Grilled Fish | Ricefish x1 | +60 | 0 |
Grilled Fish | Northern Pike x1 | +100 | 0 |
Large Grilled Fish | Striped Marlin x1 | +140 | 0 |
Grilled Seafood | Squid x1 | +100 | 0 |
Grilled Pincers | Freshwater Clam x3 | +100 | 0 |
Each of these scales up through the Filling, Satisfying, and Hearty tiers by increasing the ingredient count (x3, x5, and x10 respectively). Grilled Vegetables and Grilled Fruit are notable because they restore Spirit instead of Health, making them important for keeping your Spirit gauge topped up during extended combat.
Soups and Porridges
Soups and porridges require a Field Cooking Pot and a crafting manual. They are more complex than grilled items but provide stronger effects, including elemental resistances:
Recipe | Base Ingredients | Health | Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
Clear Soup | Tough Meat x1, Lentils x1, Water x1 | +180 | Ice Resistance Lv. 2 (5 min) |
Fish Porridge | Lentils x1, Fish Fillet x2, Salt x1, Water x3 | +240 | Ice Resistance Lv. 4 (1 min) |
Braised Ribs | Tough Meat x4, Onion x2, Raspberry x2, Water x3 | +260 | +24 Spirit |
Meat and Vegetable Porridge | Tough Meat x2, Onion x3, Lentils x2, Water x3 | +260 | +24 Spirit, Ice Resistance Lv. 4 (1 min) |
Fishball Soup | Lentils x2, Fish Fillet x2, Onion x1, Salt x1, Water x3 | +340 | Ice Resistance Lv. 4 (1 min) |
Clear Soup is the most efficient early-game provision because it costs only one of each ingredient and grants a solid 5-minute Ice Resistance buff. At the Hearty tier, Fishball Soup reaches +700 Health, making it the strongest single healing item in the game.
Field Cooking Recipes
Field cooking recipes use the Field Cooking Pot and combine multiple ingredient types. They offer both health and spirit recovery plus elemental resistances:
Recipe | Base Ingredients | Health | Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
Battered Fish | Fish Fillet x2, Egg x1, Cooking Oil x3 | +100 | Fire Resistance Lv. 4 (1 min) |
Battered Meat and Fish | Fish Fillet x2, Egg x3, Onion x1, Cooking Oil x3 | +240 | Fire Resistance Lv. 4 (1 min) |
Chewy Rice Cakes | Lentils x4, Raspberry x2, Egg x2, Cooking Oil x3 | +240 | +22 Spirit, Fire Resistance Lv. 4 (1 min) |
Marinated Meat | Tough Meat x3, Raspberry x2, Egg x2, Cooking Oil x3 | +280 | +26 Spirit, Fire Resistance Lv. 4 (1 min) |
Vegetable Rice Cake | Onion x4, Raspberry x2, Egg x1, Salt x2 | +240 | +22 Spirit, Fire Resistance Lv. 4 (1 min) |
All battered and fried recipes grant Fire Resistance, making them good preparation for fighting fire-type enemies and entering volcanic areas.
Drinks
Drinks are a separate category of provisions requiring their own crafting manuals. They include wines, teas, and herbal beverages:
Wine: Crafted from grapes. Provides spirit recovery.
Oakwood Mushroom Tea: Uses oakwood mushrooms. Moderate health recovery.
Mild Herbal Tea: Uses common herbs. Small health recovery, long buff duration.
Honey Tea: Uses honey. Spirit recovery with a soothing buff.
Drink recipes are unlocked through their own crafting manuals, which are typically found in town shops or rewarded from cooking-related side quests.
Ingredient Sources
Raw ingredients for provisions come from several activities:
Activity | Ingredients |
|---|---|
Tough Meat, Lean Bird Meat, Eggs | |
Ricefish, Northern Pike, Striped Marlin, Fish Fillet, Squid, Freshwater Clam | |
Gathering | Onion, Lentils, Raspberry, Apple, Herbs, Mushrooms |
Purchasing | Salt, Water, Cooking Oil, Honey, Sugar |
Salt (from certain mineral deposits) |
Stock up on Water, Salt, and Cooking Oil from vendors early on. These are required in many recipes and cannot be gathered in the field. Tough Meat and Onions are the two most versatile ingredients, so prioritize hunting and gathering in areas where both are available.
Tips
Always carry a mix of health-only provisions (Grilled Meat) and dual-recovery provisions (Braised Ribs) so you can heal the right stat depending on the situation.
Clear Soup's 5-minute Ice Resistance buff is much longer than the 1-minute buffs on higher-tier soups. In cold areas, a Satisfying Clear Soup gives you 30 seconds of Ice Resistance Lv. 2, which may be enough for short encounters.
At the Hearty tier, Fishball Soup (+700 Health) and Braised Ribs (+560 Health, +54 Spirit) are the best recovery items in the game. Prioritize these for boss fights and Abyss Dungeon runs.
Grilled Vegetables and Grilled Fruit are the only provisions that restore Spirit without also restoring Health. Keep some in your inventory for situations where your health is full but Spirit is low.
Cooking in the field with portable tools lets you turn raw ingredients into provisions without returning to camp. Set up a Cooking Field Tool before exploring a new area.
