Overview

Red Dye is a dye in Crimson Desert that unlocks a set of standard red shades for armor and equipment recoloring. The dye can be found in the world or crafted at a cauldron. Red is the most common dye color family in Hernand, with several variants available including Bright Red Dye, Rich Red Dye, Dark Red Dye, and Deep Red Dye. Each variant uses slightly different insect ratios in its recipe, producing different tones within the red family.

Red Dye Family Comparison
All red dyes use Peonies as the flower base and Rhinoceros Beetles as the primary insect. The shade difference comes from the ratio of Longhorn Beetles to Stag Beetles in the recipe.

3 | 0 | Lightest red | |
Red Dye | 1 | 1 | Standard red |
2 | 1 | Deeper red | |
1 | 2 | Dark red | |
0 | 3 | Darkest red |
How to Use
Open your inventory and select "Use" on the Red Dye item. This permanently unlocks the red color family and all associated shades at any dyehouse. Speak to a Dyer NPC, choose the equipment piece to recolor, pick your preferred red shade, and pay the fee.
Tips
Glenbright Manor's secret basement is easy to miss on a first visit. Look for hidden entrances or interactable objects on the ground floor.
Peonies are very common in Hernand. Collect them in bulk to craft multiple red dye variants in a single cauldron session.
The Red Dye uses the most balanced insect ratio (1 Longhorn, 1 Stag), placing it in the middle of the red shade spectrum.
