"The wooden key glowed, transforming into an iron key. A mysterious symbol is engraved upon its surface."
How to Obtain
The Engraved Key is not found or purchased separately. It appears when the Shabby Wooden Key undergoes a magical transformation. The beggar who gives Kliff the original wooden key later turns out to be Alustin, who reappears at the Axiom Archive during the Polar Opposites quest.
Uses
The Engraved Key is central to the Mystical Key main quest (the 10th main mission), which is part of Chapter 1: The First Encounter, under the Trace sub-chapter. The quest has four objectives:
Examine the Engraved Key through the inventory.
Travel to Hernand Castle.
Locate the room the key unlocks (the alchemist's chamber).
Pass through the shining gate.
To enter Hernand Castle, Kliff must equip the Hernandian Attire (a purple coat), which causes the soldiers to open the castle gates. Inside the castle, navigate to the second floor and proceed through the corridors to find the locked chamber. The Engraved Key opens the door, revealing a wall that parts to expose a shining Abyss gate.
