Overview
The Scarecrow Cloak is a craftable cloak (shoulder armor) in Crimson Desert. Shaped after a scarecrow found in farm fields, it is made from coarse fabric that is not particularly comfortable but offers a practical stealth benefit: equipping it makes Kliff harder for enemies to detect while standing still. On top of that, it grants Ice Resistance Lv. 3, making it a solid option for players heading into cold-climate areas.

Crafting Recipe
The Scarecrow Cloak requires a crafting manual to unlock. Once the manual is learned, forge it at any blacksmith:
Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
Hay | 5 | Farm areas, barns, and haystacks throughout Hernand |
Cloth Pieces | 10 | Linen bundles, vendors, salvaged from defeated bandits |
The crafting manual for the Scarecrow Cloak falls under the special items category of Crafting Manuals. It can be found at vendor shops or obtained through side quests in the Hernand region.
Stealth Mechanic
The detection reduction only activates when Kliff is completely still. Moving, attacking, or using abilities will reset the detection window. This makes the Scarecrow Cloak most useful in situations where you want to scout an enemy camp, wait for a patrol to pass, or set up a stealth approach before engaging. It synergizes well with ranged weapons since you can position yourself, wait for detection to drop, and then open with an arrow or bullet from concealment.
The cloak does not make Kliff invisible. Enemies within close range will still spot you. Think of it as extending the safe distance at which you can stand near enemies without triggering combat.
Comparison to Other Cloaks
Here is how the Scarecrow Cloak stacks up against a few other commonly available cloaks:
Cloak | Defense | Resistance | Special |
|---|---|---|---|
Scarecrow Cloak | 2 | Ice Lv. 3 | Reduced detection while still |
Disguise Cloak | 3 | Ice Lv. 3 | Civilian Disguise |
Bolton Plate Cloak | 2 | Fire Lv. 3 | None |
Hungering Fang Leather Cloak | 3 | Lightning Lv. 3 | None |
Delesyian Cloth Cloak | 0 | Ice Lv. 3 | None |
The Disguise Cloak offers higher defense and the Civilian Disguise effect for walking through hostile areas unnoticed, but it must be purchased rather than crafted. The Scarecrow Cloak's stealth benefit is more situational but costs only common materials.
Tips
Hay is easy to overlook. Check barns, farms, and haystacks around Hernand Town and the surrounding villages.
Pair this cloak with cloth armor for a full Ice Resistance build that keeps you light on your feet.
The detection reduction is useful during stealth segments in the main story where you infiltrate enemy strongholds.
At a sell price of 38 Silver, crafting and selling Scarecrow Cloaks can be a minor income source if you have excess Hay and Cloth Pieces.
