Overview
Vendors are NPCs spread across Pywel who sell consumables, resources, equipment, clothing, and other goods. Players encounter their first vendors shortly after arriving in the Hernand region and establishing the Greymane Camp. Every major town and settlement has its own cluster of shops, and wandering Street Vendors appear at various landmarks throughout the open world.
Buying and Selling
Interacting with any vendor opens a trade window where you can buy their stock or sell items from your inventory. Sales pay out in copper or silver depending on the item's value. A few important rules apply to every transaction:
Repurchase costs more. If you sell an item and later want it back, the repurchase price is higher than what you originally received.
Repurchase is vendor-specific. Items can only be repurchased from the same vendor you sold them to. Selling a sword to Rhett and then visiting another merchant will not show that sword in the repurchase tab.
Temporary storage trick. Because repurchase is always available, you can use vendors as makeshift storage by selling items you want to keep safe and buying them back later when you have more inventory space.
Uniform sale prices. You receive the same amount of currency for a given item regardless of which merchant you sell it to. There is no benefit to shopping around for a better offer.
Currencies
The economy in Crimson Desert uses three main forms of currency. Copper and silver are the standard coins earned from selling loot, completing quests, and winning minigames. Contribution Points are a separate regional currency earned by doing good deeds, finishing requests, and completing faction quests. Contribution Points can only be spent at regional Contribution Shops.
Currency | How to Earn | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|
Copper (Bronze Coins) | Selling items, quest rewards, minigames, bounty missions | Buying common goods, bags, food ingredients, basic gear |
Silver | Selling valuable loot, trade goods, high-tier quest rewards | Purchasing equipment, horse gear, refined materials |
Faction quests, regional requests, good deeds | Regional Contribution Shops for exclusive gear and rewards |
Vendor Types
Equipment Shops
Equipment vendors sell weapons, armor, and shields. The most prominent is Rhett, who runs the Equipment Shop on the town square in Hernand Town. Rhett is constantly searching for high-quality minerals and stocks forged gear including the Canta Armor Set, which is useful for early boss encounters. Behind Rhett's shop, the blacksmith Turnali at House Celeste offers weapon and armor refinement. His first refinement quest requires 10 Timber and rewards an upgraded Bekker Shield.
Provisioners and Grocers
General goods merchants stock food ingredients, basic crafting materials, and everyday supplies. Alden runs the Provisioner's in Hernand, while Delkin operates the Grocer's, sourcing fresh produce from the surrounding fields. Renee at the Butchery provides high-quality meat products useful for cooking recipes that grant combat buffs.
Saddleries and Stables
Horse-related vendors sell saddles, tack, healing supplies, and stat-boosting gear for mounts. Annabella at the Saddlery in Hernand specializes in battlefield horse equipment. Bruna at the Equinsher Saddlery, southeast of Hernand in Serkis lands, focuses on comfort-oriented tack. Merton manages the Stable, offering boarding and other horse services.
Specialty Shops
Several vendors in Hernand cater to niche needs. Tina at the Tailor Shop sells traditional and modern clothing. Bran at the Tannery uses ancient techniques to produce leather goods. Theoric at the Dyehouse sells dyes for gear customization. Finley at the Fishing Shop provides rods, bait, and other fishing equipment.
Inns and Food Shops
Dahlia runs the Inn in Hernand, providing lodging and services. At the Greymane Camp, Ronnie operates the Base Camp Food Shop selling prepared meals and provisions, while Tranan manages the Base Camp Equipment Shop offering blacksmith services for field repairs and upgrades.
Trading Posts
After completing Chapter 2 of the main story, players unlock access to Goldleaf Tradeposts. These allow you to sell trade goods, both packaged and unpackaged, for copper and silver. Bentley runs the Royal Trading Post in Hernand. Serge and Prox operate Goldleaf Trading Posts in more remote locations. You can purchase trade goods from the Goldleaf Guildhouse to the east and transport them by wagon for profit.
Black Market Dealers
Operating outside the law, Black Market vendors sell items that cannot be found in legitimate shops. Edmond runs the Livestock Black Market, dealing in questionable livestock trades. Grimrak keeps a Back Alley Shop with discreet specialty items. Groks at the Goldleaf Black Market handles both legal and illegal trade goods. These vendors are useful for offloading stolen goods and acquiring rare materials.
Contribution Shops
Each region in Pywel maintains its own Contribution Shop where players exchange Contribution Points for exclusive rewards. Haldwin manages the Contribution Shop in Hernand, located at Hernand Castle. These shops stock gear and items that cannot be purchased with copper or silver, making Contribution Points a valuable secondary currency. The Bolton Armor Set is one notable early reward available through this system.
Banks and Other Services
Grover operates the Bank in Hernand, providing banking and financial services. Alfred runs the Church Confessional, offering religious services.

Money-Making Tips
Earning currency quickly is essential for affording better gear and expanding your inventory. Here are some reliable methods:
Bounty missions from House Celeste in Hernand Town provide consistent income for combat-oriented players.
Goblin farming: Fundamentalist Goblins drop Crude Devil Masks that sell to any merchant for a good price.
Archery Contest at Lioncrest Manor (House Alfonso) pays around 80 coins per round and is repeatable.
Trade goods: Buy low at the Goldleaf Guildhouse and sell at Tradeposts for profit after Chapter 2.
Request board: Completing requests in Hernand rewards copper, items, and up to 3 additional inventory slots.
Inventory and Bags
Your base inventory space is limited, but merchants sell bags that expand it. Small Bags cost approximately 50 Bronze Coins and grant one extra inventory slot each. Completing town requests also rewards inventory expansions. Managing your inventory carefully is important, especially before long expeditions away from vendor access.
