Overview
Gatherables are essential materials in Crimson Desert used for cooking, alchemy, weapon and armor refinement, and Greymane Camp development. Players collect these resources by foraging in the wild, hunting animals, mining ore deposits, logging trees, farming crops at the camp, and purchasing from vendors across Pywel. Each gatherable fits into one of several categories, and every region of the continent offers a distinct selection of items tied to its climate and terrain.
Gathering Methods
Crimson Desert uses an interactive, manual gathering system rather than instant collection. Players must physically perform each action: swinging an axe to fell trees, using a pickaxe to mine ore veins, crouching to pick herbs, or skinning hunted animals. The game features several confirmed life skills that govern how efficiently resources are gathered.
Method | Tool/Action | Resource Types |
|---|---|---|
Foraging | Hand-picking from the ground, bushes, and trees | |
Hunting | Killing and skinning animals | Meats and Grains, hides, bones, fangs |
Mining | Pickaxe on ore veins and rock formations | Minerals (iron, copper, bloodstone, diamond) |
Logging | Logging axe on trees | Timber, Fine Timber |
Farming | Planting and harvesting crops at the camp | Grains, vegetables, and select fruits |
Fishing | Casting a line at bodies of water | Fish fillets for cooking |
Purchasing | Buying from grocers, provisioners, taverns, and churches | Crafting Materials (salt, sugar, eggs, milk, gunpowder) |
Gatherable Categories
All gatherables fall into one of the following categories. Each category page provides a full item list with descriptions, locations, and uses.
Category | Description | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|
Meat from hunted animals and grain crops cultivated across Pywel | ||
Foraged fruits and farmed vegetables found throughout the continent | Cooking, Spirit recovery | |
Mushrooms, medicinal herbs, and poisonous plants gathered in forests and mountains | Alchemy, elixirs and potions | |
Stones, ores, and precious gems obtained through mining | Weapon and armor refinement, construction | |
Processed goods, hides, bones, and specialty items from vendors and the world | Cooking, crafting, camp upgrades |
Regional Distribution
The continent of Pywel is divided into several distinct regions, each with its own climate, terrain, and resource profile. Understanding where specific gatherables grow is key to efficient farming routes.
Region | Climate | Notable Resources |
|---|---|---|
Temperate farmland | Barley, wheat, oats, turnips, beets, carrots, apples, oakwood mushrooms, lavender | |
Warm agricultural | Beans, peas, wheat, corn, grapes, figs, pomegranates, tomatoes, coral mushrooms | |
Southern coastal | Garlic, fennel, peaches, oranges, elderberries, red seaweed | |
Mountainous and cold | Barley, wild garlic, asparagus, blue lavender, bloodstone, epidote | |
Crimson Desert (arid interior) | Desert | Desert melon, pineapple, coffee cherry, cacao, azurite, stone |
Resource Node Respawning
Resource nodes in Crimson Desert are placed at fixed positions on the map. Once a node is harvested, it disappears and respawns after a set amount of time. Because the positions never change, players who memorize efficient farming routes can revisit the same nodes repeatedly after respawn timers reset.
Companion Dispatch
After building a Dispatch Board at a Tier 2 Greymane Camp, idle companions can be sent on gathering missions. These dispatch missions take 24 to 48 real-world hours to complete and yield a small amount of resources. While the output is low compared to manual gathering, the system provides a passive stream of materials during periods when you are focused on other activities such as questing or exploration.
Tips
Gather everything you see early on. Cooking ingredients and alchemy materials are consumed quickly once you start crafting meals and potions.
Visit the grocer and provisioner in every new town to stock up on staples like salt, sugar, eggs, and empty bottles.
Upgrade your camp facilities to unlock crop patches and animal pens, which provide a steady supply of grains, vegetables, and meats.
Use the companion dispatch system to supplement your gathering. Even though yields are low, the materials accumulate over time.
Pay attention to regional specialties. Some items, like coffee cherry and cacao, are only available in the arid Crimson Desert interior.
