Overview

Fortification I is a standard passive Abyss Core in Crimson Desert. Defense directly reduces incoming physical damage, and the +3 bonus from this core is one of the stronger single-core defensive boosts available at the standard tier.
This core is a solid pick for players building tanky loadouts, particularly on characters like Kliff when using a shield-and-sword setup. The older armor-piece-and-shield example sums two listed Defense-3 effects to six arithmetically; the record does not independently test the final stacking behavior or damage reduction against enemies in combat.

How to Obtain
Purchased from Witch merchants. Also drops from armored enemies and can be found in supply chests throughout the world.
Standard Abyss Cores like Fortification I can be acquired from Witches who serve as merchants at various camps and settlements across the world. Check with any Witch merchant when you visit a new area, as their inventory may include this core.
Usage and Strategy
Socket Fortification I into any compatible equipment piece (Armor, Shields) to gain its Defense 3 bonus. The effect is always active as long as the core remains socketed and the equipment is worn.
Tips
Fortification I lists Defense 3, while Aegis I lists Damage Reduction 1. Those are different stats; the records do not establish that the larger printed number automatically makes Fortification better against every large hit from enemies.
Pairs well with Wall of Steel I for a full defensive core loadout.
Recorded effect and acquisition
Learn Gear Blueprint: Fortification, then craft at a Witch with one Abyss Cell, one Azurite and any one listed Defense Reagent (Cockroach, Camel Cricket, Wharf Roach, Jewel Beetle or Snail). The explicit recorded effect is Defense 3. Norden is additionally named as a seller. Keep this tier's recipe separate from other gears. These records do not independently establish the older generic drop locations, universal vendor stock, numerical fees or multi-piece stacking rules.
