Island Life Quests
The Island Life questline is the main story progression system in Starsand Island. It consists of five ranks, each with a set of objectives that must be completed in strict sequential order. Completing ranks unlocks major features like Land Expansion, new properties, and community milestones.
Rank | Focus | Key Unlocks |
|---|---|---|
Returning Resident | Basic integration: place furniture, learn core mechanics, introduce yourself to townsfolk | Starting home, basic access to shops and services |
Island Pro | Community participation: complete Bulletin Board tasks, earn income, contribute to island | Ability to purchase land, first major milestone |
Home Builder | Property development: expand your home, increase furniture placement, reach housing value thresholds | Cloudrest Lake property, advanced building options |
Bright Star | Social and economic growth: build NPC relationships, reach economic thresholds, expand influence | Blue Beach property, expanded social features |
Starsand Legend | Full mastery: reach endgame milestones, prestige status | Windflute Island property, prestige recognition |
Bulletin Board Requests
The Bulletin Board in front of the Community Center refreshes every morning at 6:00 AM with up to four NPC requests. These are one of the most consistent sources of Coins and Starsand Points in the game.
Star Rating | Difficulty | Starsand Points | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
1 Star | Easy, no time limit | 25 SP | Good for beginners, always completable |
2 Star | Moderate, some time pressure | 35 SP | Better rewards, manageable deadlines |
3 Star | Hard, strict time limit | 50+ SP | Avoid early on; strict deadlines can cause failure |
You can also purchase a Request Bulletin blueprint from Zerine's General Store and place it on your own property. This home version works identically to the town board, letting you check and accept requests without traveling to the Community Center.
Completing milestone numbers of requests at each difficulty level earns bonus Coins and blueprint rewards. Prioritize 1-star and 2-star requests for steady income.
NPC and Heart Story Quests
Each NPC in Starsand Island has their own side quests and Heart Stories that unlock as you increase your relationship through gifts and daily interaction. Heart Stories are special multi-part questlines tied to specific friendship levels.
Heart Stories unlock at specific friendship heart thresholds (typically at 2 Hearts, 3 Hearts, and 4 Hearts).
Each Heart Story reveals backstory about the NPC and often rewards unique recipes, blueprints, or items.
Side quests from NPCs also appear on the Bulletin Board or through direct conversation.
Some profession trial quests require completing NPC-specific tasks (e.g., meeting Lunelle for the Rancher trial).
Daily and StarNote Quests
In addition to Bulletin Board requests, Daily Quests appear through the StarNote phone app and from tourist NPCs visiting the island. These provide additional daily income and Starsand Points.
StarNote quests are requests from islanders posted through the phone app. They typically ask for specific items or crops.
Tourist quests come from visiting NPCs near the dock or town square. They rotate daily.
An optimal daily routine combines Bulletin Board requests, StarNote quests, and tourist requests for maximum earnings.
Quest Progression Tips
Start the Crafter profession first. It unlocks the stations needed for every other profession's materials.
Advance Farmer and Crafter in parallel. Many farming upgrades (sprinklers, better tools) require crafting materials.
Do not skip Bulletin Board requests. Even low-star requests contribute to milestone bonuses and Starsand Points needed for land expansion.
Talk to every NPC daily and give liked gifts. Heart Stories often reward unique recipes not available anywhere else.
Island Life quests must be completed in strict order. The game does not recognize progress on later ranks until earlier ones are finished.
Explorer profession can wait until you need Moonlit Forest materials. Focus on Crafter and Farmer for the first few in-game weeks.
