Overview
Fishing is one of the five professions in Starsand Island, mentored by Delphin. There are 105 sea creatures to catch across the island's three main water bodies (Lake, River, and Ocean) plus special zones like Celestewave, Luminwave, and Coral Sea. Fishing is a reliable early money-maker and supplies ingredients for cooking.
How to fish
Equip a fishing rod (crafted or purchased)
Approach a body of water and look for fish shadows
Hold the cast button to aim toward a fish shadow, then release to cast
Wait for a bite (the bobber dips)
Hold the reel button to bring the fish in
Fish have specific preferences for location, time of day, weather, and bait type. Rare fish appear under narrow conditions, check the Islandpedia for hints.
Bait types
Different fish respond to different bait. Using the right bait increases your chances of catching specific species:

Meat Bait | Attracts carnivorous fish like sharks and tuna. Crafted from animal products. |
Veggie Bait | Attracts herbivorous fish. Made from crop scraps. |
Bug Bait | Attracts picky eaters. Made from caught insects. Some of the rarest fish only respond to Bug Bait. |
Many fish are omnivorous and will bite any bait, but using the preferred type improves your catch rate for specific targets.
Fish traps
Fish traps offer a passive alternative to active fishing. Place them in water, wait, and collect the catch later. Trap blueprints are sold at the Aquablue Outpost (Dive & Reels shop). Fish traps are a good source of hands-off income while you focus on other activities.
Aquarium
The aquarium system unlocks via the "Finny Roommates" quest from the bulletin board. Catch 10 fish and bring them to Solara to complete the quest. Cube Aquariums come in S, M, L, and XL sizes and can be placed in your home as decorative furniture.

Cooking buffs for fishing
Two cooking buffs directly benefit fishing:
Never Skunked: Fish will no longer test the bait, every bite is a guaranteed catch
Underwater Treasure: Fishing yields extra treasure chests alongside your catch
Storage
Fish can be stored in standard storage boxes or the Realm Box (a shared inventory accessible from any Realm Box on the island). This is useful for stashing fish while on extended fishing trips away from home.
Tips
Fishing is one of the best early-game money sources. Sell raw fish or cook them for even more profit.
Set up fish traps near productive spots and check them each morning for free income.
The Never Skunked buff eliminates failed catches entirely, cook the right meal before a fishing session.
Different fish appear depending on time of day, weather, and season. Check at night and during rain for rare spawns.
