The Bulletin Board is a daily request system located outside the Community Center on the east side of Starsand Town's plaza. Each morning it refreshes with NPC requests asking you to deliver specific items within a time limit. Completing requests is one of the fastest ways to earn Coins in the early and mid-game, and it doubles as a way to build Affection with the island's residents and earn Starsand Points for progression.
The Bulletin Board does not start generating requests immediately. You must first reach 4 Hearts with at least one NPC before postings appear. The physical board exists at the Community Center from the start of the game, but it remains empty until the affection threshold is met. Talking to NPCs daily, giving gifts, and completing early quests are the fastest ways to reach 4 Hearts and unlock the board.
The board refreshes every day at 6:00 AM with a new set of requests. Each request is posted by a specific NPC who needs a particular item: crops, cooked dishes, crafted goods, or gathered materials. Accept a request, gather the required item if you do not already have it, and deliver the item back to the Bulletin Board itself (not directly to the requesting NPC) before the timer expires.
You can have up to four active requests at once. The board typically displays more than four options, giving you some choice in which requests to accept. Uncompleted requests cannot be carried over to the next day; they disappear at the 6:00 AM reset. If you cannot finish one in time, it simply expires with no penalty.
Requests come in three difficulty levels, each with different time limits and item requirements:
Tier | Difficulty | Items Requested | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
1-Star | Simple | Raw crops, basic materials, common fish in small quantities | Generous time limits. Good for beginners and items you already have stockpiled. |
2-Star | Normal | Processed or crafted items, higher quantities, less common materials | May require cooked dishes or refined materials that take preparation. |
3-Star | Difficult | Rare or complex items, large quantities, multi-step crafted products | Tight time limits. Multiple guides recommend skipping these early on. |
Each completed request gives three types of rewards:
The payout is significantly higher than selling the same item directly, reportedly 2 to 3 times the base sell price of the requested item. A single request for five Peppers, for instance, can net over 1,000 Coins. On an average day, completing all four requests earns roughly 1,500 to 2,000 Coins, making the Bulletin Board one of the best daily income sources. This is especially valuable before batch cooking or deep-sea fishing become available.
Each completed request awards Starsand Points, the secondary progression currency used for Workpedia skill upgrades and Land Expansion. The confirmed values per difficulty tier are:
Tier | |
|---|---|
1-Star | 25 |
2-Star | 35 |
3-Star | Not confirmed (expected higher) |
Unique requests from profession certification trials award 70 to 100 Starsand Points but do not count toward the daily Bulletin Board tally.
+15 to +30 Affection with the NPC who posted the request. Easier requests tend to award around 15 points, while harder requests can grant up to 25 or 30 points. This stacks with daily conversation and gift-giving, making the board one of the most efficient ways to raise relationships. Each posting shows which NPC made the request, so you can target specific characters you want to build affection with.
Requests may also occasionally include bonus item rewards such as seeds, materials, or crafting components.
Keeping a stockpile of frequently requested items makes completing requests much faster. Common categories include:
Category | Examples |
|---|---|
Crops | Tomatoes, corn, wheat, potatoes, peppers, watermelon |
Fish | Bass, trout, carp (1-Star); specific species for higher tiers |
Cooked dishes | Grilled fish, vegetable soup, bread, juice |
Crafted items | Refined materials, processed goods |
The board has a Total Completion tab that tracks how many requests you have finished across each difficulty tier. At certain milestones, you can claim bonus prizes including large Coin payouts and blueprints. Completing 5 total requests from the Community Center board is one of the Island Life Ranking goals required before reaching "Island Pro" rank, which gates the ability to purchase land and expand at Hopeland.
There is also a Steam/console achievement called "Versatile Helper" ("Just a call, and I'll be there") for completing 100 total requests.
Traveling to the Community Center every morning gets tedious. Once you reach the Junior Crafter profession level through the crafter profession quests with Zerine, you can purchase a Request Bulletin Blueprint from Zerine's General Store. Build it on your property and you can accept requests from home without the daily trip to town. The personal bulletin board functions identically to the town board at the Community Center.
Tip | Details |
|---|---|
Check the board at 6:00 AM daily | Treat it like watering your crops: a morning routine that pays consistently. |
Keep a stockpile | Dedicate 2 to 3 storage chests to commonly requested items. Maintain 20 to 30 of each basic crop and batch-cook simple recipes (grilled fish, vegetable soup, bread) in advance. If you already have the item on hand, accepting and delivering takes seconds. |
Match requests to your daily plan | If you are spending the day fishing, prioritize fish requests. On farming days, accept crop delivery requests. Align the board with what you are already doing. |
Focus on 1-Star and 2-Star requests early | The 3-Star requests have strict time limits and require advanced materials that are frustrating to gather without upgraded crafting stations. They become much more manageable with a well-stocked inventory later in the game. |
Target specific NPCs for romance | If an NPC you are pursuing posts a request, completing it gives both Coins and Affection. Combined with a daily gift and conversation, this can push a relationship forward quickly. |
Build the personal bulletin board early | Reaching Junior Crafter to unlock the Request Bulletin Blueprint is worth prioritizing. It saves the walk to the Community Center every morning and lets you check requests right from your farm at Hopeland. |
Remember that the Bulletin Board reward is on top of the item's normal value. You are not selling the item; you are delivering it for a premium bonus. | -- |
