This article has been recognized for its exceptional quality and comprehensive coverage.
Hopeland is the player's starting farm area, located southwest of Starsand Town on Starsand Island. When you first arrive on the island, you receive a small plot of land with a tiny cottage. This is your base of operations for farming, crafting, ranching, and building. The entrance to the Moonlit Forest is south of your home through a Damaged Door, and Zerine's General Store is the closest shop to the northeast.
When you first arrive at Hopeland, the following structures are already on your property:
Structure | Description |
|---|---|
Cottage | Your home. Sleep here to save progress and recover stamina overnight. Can be fully customized. |
Mailbox | Receive letters, gifts, and quest notifications from NPCs. |
Shipping Bin | Place items inside to sell them overnight. Revenue appears the next morning. |
Farm Swing | Sit on the swing to recover stamina for free. Takes real-time seconds to regenerate a noticeable amount. |
Damaged Door | Southern exit leading to the Moonlit Forest. Requires repair materials to open. |
The farm swing is located near your cottage and provides free stamina recovery. Sitting on the swing slowly regenerates your stamina bar without consuming any items or coins. While it is slower than eating food or using stamina potions, it is a cost-free option that is especially useful in the early game when resources are limited. You can also enjoy the view while waiting, as the swing faces out over your farm plots.
Your cottage can be fully customized piece by piece using crafting materials, or you can purchase prefab layouts. Customization options include walls, flooring, roofing, windows, doors, and exterior decorations. Interior furniture can be placed freely in build mode (press C while inside). As you expand your house and add rooms, you unlock space for additional furniture, storage, and decorative items.
Activity | Details |
|---|---|
Crops | Till plots with a hoe, plant seeds, and water crops. Giant crop mutations are possible (e.g., Watermelons and Pumpkins in 3x3 grids). Some crops like Cucumbers need trellises. Sprinklers unlock at the Intermediate Farmer tier for automatic watering. |
Build hutches and barns to raise livestock. Rabbits can be used for natural weed removal on the farm. See the mounts article for rideable animals. | |
Place workstations (worktable, furnace, loom, etc.) directly on your farm. The worktable is your primary crafting station and can be upgraded through three levels. | |
Customize your house and add barns, coops, sheds, and crafting stations anywhere on your land using build mode. |
The World Tree is a special structure that can be crafted at Worktable Level 3 and placed on your farm. Once built, the World Tree periodically generates treasure chests containing random rewards such as coins, Starsand currency, crafting materials, and occasionally rare items. Check the tree daily to collect any chests that have spawned. The World Tree is one of the best passive income sources in the mid-to-late game.
Two wild pets roam the Hopeland area and can be befriended:
Pet | Type | Details |
|---|---|---|
Wanders around the farm area. Can be befriended by feeding. A calm, friendly pet. | ||
Squirrel | Scurries around trees near the cottage. Faster and more skittish than Mellowhen. |
Befriended pets can be found through the Residents button on the phone map if you lose track of them.
The Buy Land app unlocks on your in-game phone after completing two milestones:
Reach Junior level in any profession (Farming, Ranching, Crafting, Fishing, or Exploration).
Complete 5 requests from the Community Center Bulletin Board in Starsand Town.
There are 8 expansion plots surrounding your starting farm. Each costs progressively more coins and Starsand currency. All plots are the same size.
Plot | Coin Cost | Starsand Cost |
|---|---|---|
Plot 1 | 2,000 | 50 |
Plot 2 | 15,000 | 75 |
Plot 3 | 30,000 | 90 |
Plot 4 | 50,000 | 130 |
Plot 5 | 75,000 | 160 |
Plot 6 | 100,000 | 200 |
Plot 7 | 130,000 | 250 |
Plot 8 | 160,000 | 300 |
Total: 562,000 coins + 1,255 Starsand. Land purchases are permanent with no refund option. Expand for functionality first (crop rows, barns, coops, crafting stations) rather than decorative purposes.
Beyond Hopeland's 8 expansions, three additional property locations unlock at higher ranks:
Location | Unlock Requirement | Cost |
|---|---|---|
"Home Builder" rank (expand Hopeland 6 times) | 6,000,000 coins + 750 Starsand | |
"Bright Star" rank (requires Cloudrest Lake property) | Not yet confirmed in Early Access | |
"Starsand Legend" rank (build 10 bus stations + buy Blue Beach plots) | Not yet confirmed in Early Access |
The East Hopeland bus station is located near the front of the home lot, connecting to all 10 fast travel stations across the island. Travel costs between 5 and 30 coins per trip depending on the distance between stations. Repair all bus stations you encounter for the most convenient network coverage.
Your first expansion plot (2,000 coins + 50 Starsand) is very affordable. Grab it as soon as the Buy Land app unlocks.
Prioritize functional expansions over cosmetic ones. More crop rows and crafting stations generate more income faster.
Use the farm swing for free stamina recovery instead of buying food early on. It is slower but saves coins.
Place the World Tree as soon as you reach Worktable Level 3. The daily treasure chests add up over time.
The Moonlit Forest entrance behind the Damaged Door is the gateway to mining and exploration content. Repair it early to access ores.
Place crafting stations near each other for efficient workflow. You will visit them constantly.
Earning Starsand from StarNote levels is the most reliable source early on. The total across all 45 levels is approximately 1,775 Starsand.
Save Starsand currency for both land expansion and skill upgrades in the Workpedia. Budget accordingly.
