Overview
Starsand Island gives players a deep character customization system split across three stages: the initial character creator, two in-town shops (Bloom Atelier and Ethereal Styles), and a crafting pipeline that lets you produce your own colored fabrics. Gender and name are locked at creation, but hairstyles, makeup, and clothing can all be changed after the fact.
Character Creator
The character creator runs once at the start of a new save. It offers full color wheels for skin tone, hair color, and eye color, each with saturation and brightness sliders. This replaced the preset palette system from the demo.

Available options include:
Gender (male or female, permanent). Determines which clothing pieces are available, since outfits are gender-locked.
Skin tone with a continuous color wheel and brightness slider.
Hair with multiple style presets and a full color wheel. Any color is possible.
Eyes with a color wheel, customizable pupil and iris designs, and eyelash options.
Facial features across 100+ options: eyebrows, eyeliner, lipstick, blush, eyeshadow, and face paint.
Bloom Atelier
The Bloom Atelier is a beauty salon on the north side of Starsand Town, run by Serena (a cosmetologist who lives above the shop). Open from 8 AM to 10 PM, it handles hairstyle changes and full makeup adjustments. Serena can modify eyebrows, eyeliner, lipstick, blush, and face paint, all using the same color wheels from the character creator.
The Bloom Atelier does not sell clothing or blueprints. For outfits, head to Ethereal Styles across the plaza.
Ethereal Styles
Ethereal Styles is a clothing boutique on the south side of the plaza, run by Lunelle. Open from 8 AM to 10 PM, it stocks a rotating selection of outfits, accessories, and hats. Some pieces are only available for a limited time, so it pays to check the inventory regularly.

Hats work as a separate slot from hairstyles, meaning you can pair any hat with any hair. This changed from the demo, where hats were tied to specific styles.
Clothing and Outfits
The game includes over 200 wearable pieces per body type, designed for mix-and-match. Styles range from Eastern and Western fantasy to casual wear, seasonal outfits, and traditional clothing from various cultures. All clothing is gender-locked.
Sources for new clothing:
Ethereal Styles shop purchases (some limited-time stock).
Sewing Table crafting using colored fabrics and blueprints (see Dye System below).
StarNote app rewards for completing achievement milestones.
Quest completion rewards throughout the main story and side quests.
DLC outfit packs (see below).
Ethnic Chinese Outfits
Ten outfits inspired by different ethnic groups in China are included in the base game. Each outfit comes with a matching traditional dance animation that plays when worn. These are part of the broader range of cultural clothing options and show up in the wardrobe alongside standard outfits.

Dye System and Colored Fabrics
Rather than a standalone dye bench, Starsand Island ties clothing colors to its ranching system. Colored wool comes from breeding hued animals at the Breeding House, which unlocks after completing the Intermediate Rancher certification (3,500 Coins). Offspring color is random, and seven wool colors exist: Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Orange, Cyan, and Black.
The textile crafting pipeline runs through three stations:
Spinning Wheel turns raw materials into thread and rope (Carbon Line, Fishing Line, Hemp Rope).
Loom weaves wool into colored fabrics. Available outputs: Black, Blue, Cyan, Green, Orange, Purple, Rainbow, Red, White, and Yellow fabric, plus Leather, Linen, and Velvet.
Sewing Table takes colored fabrics and patterns to produce finished clothing.
All three stations come together in the Textile Equipment blueprint pack, available from shops. A notable early quest requires delivering seven colored wools (one of each hue) to Pastelle at Green Pasture Ranch.
