Jam Maker
The Jam Maker is a crafting station in Starsand Island that converts fruit and sugar into fruit jams. These jams serve as intermediate cooking ingredients for mid-tier and high-tier recipes, particularly desserts and pastries. Jams can also be sold directly for profit, making the Jam Maker one of the most important processing stations for both cooking and money-making.
How to Unlock
The Jam Maker Blueprint is purchased from the Happiness Seed Shop in Starsand Town for 1,600 coins. You must first earn Junior Farmer certification by completing Graminova's Junior Farmer trial quests. The Happiness Seed Shop is located next to Ethereal Styles near the plaza.
After buying the blueprint, build the Jam Maker at your Worktable and place it anywhere on your property. Many players cluster it near their Gas Stove, Separator, and Brewing Barrel to create an efficient kitchen area.
How It Works
Load the Jam Maker with fruit and sugar. Each batch requires 2 fruits of the same type plus 3 Sugar. The station processes the inputs over approximately half an in-game day and produces the corresponding fruit jam. Different fruits produce different jam varieties.
Input | Source |
|---|---|
Fruit (any type, x2) | Harvested from fruit trees, crops, or bought from shops |
Sugar (x3) | Produced at the Separator from Sugarcane or Sugar Beets |
Jams are not edible on their own. They are intermediate cooking ingredients used in recipes that call for jam or fruit preserves. Some jams (like Tomato Ketchup) function as condiments in savory recipes rather than sweet dishes.
All Jam Types
The Jam Maker can produce 16 different products. The jam variety depends on which fruit you load into the station.
Product | Fruit Input | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Apple Jam | Apple (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Common; Apples grow in all seasons |
Banana Jam | Banana (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Summer fruit |
Cherry Tomato Jam | Cherry Tomato (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Tomato variant; used in some savory recipes |
Green Grape Jam | Green Grape (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Autumn fruit |
Jadelume Jam | Jadelume (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Rare fruit from special sources |
Lychee Jam | Lychee (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Summer fruit |
Orange Jam | Orange (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Also called marmalade in some recipes |
Persimmon Jam | Persimmon (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Autumn fruit |
Pineapple Jam | Pineapple (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Summer fruit |
Red Grape Jam | Red Grape (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Autumn fruit |
Snow Pear Jam | Snow Pear (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Winter fruit |
Star Mango Jam | Star Mango (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Summer fruit; high value |
Star Plum Jam | Star Plum (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Spring fruit |
Watermelon Jam | Watermelon (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Summer fruit; popular for automation |
Tomato Ketchup | Tomato (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Used as a condiment in cooking |
Spirit Fruit Pulp | Spirit Fruit (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Rare; Spirit Fruit from the Moonlit Forest |
Processing Station Comparison
The Jam Maker is one of four timed processing stations that produce intermediate cooking ingredients. All four unlock through Farming profession progression at the Happiness Seed Shop.
Station | Input | Output | Unlock | Blueprint Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Raw crops | Flour, Sugar, Salt, Fish Fillet, etc. | Early game (Zerine's General Store) | Equipment Pack | |
Jam Maker | Fruit (x2) + Sugar (x3) | Fruit Jams | Junior Farmer | 1,600 coins |
Grains | Vinegar, Soy Sauce, Rice Wine | Junior Farmer | 1,600 coins | |
Vegetables + Salt | Pickled Vegetables | Intermediate Farmer | 2,000 coins |
Note that the Separator processes ingredients instantly, while the Jam Maker, Brewing Barrel, and Pickling Jar all take time. Building multiples of these timed stations is the only way to increase throughput.
Money Making with Jam
Finished jams sell for significantly more than raw fruit. Individual jams sell for around 500 coins or more each, making jam production one of the most profitable processing activities in the game. The key to maximizing profit is scale: building 10 or more Jam Makers and running them simultaneously.
To set up a profitable jam operation:
Plant large orchards of fruit trees on irrigated fields. Fruit trees regrow their produce every few days without replanting.
Keep a steady supply of Sugarcane or Sugar Beets growing for Sugar production at the Separator.
Build 10 or more Jam Makers and place them in a cluster for easy loading and collection.
Load each station with 2 fruit and 3 sugar. After half a day, collect the finished jams.
Sell in bulk at the Merchant Ship for premium prices. The Merchant Ship pays roughly double what regular vendors offer for select goods.
GMax fruit variants (grown from GMax seeds) produce jam with a higher value multiplier, further increasing profit per batch. If you have access to GMax crops, prioritize using those fruits in your Jam Makers.
Automation
While the Jam Maker cannot be fully automated through conveyor belts or hoppers in the current version, you can optimize the workflow by clustering Jam Makers near your fruit storage and Separator. The basic loop is: harvest fruit, process Sugarcane into Sugar at the Separator, load Jam Makers, wait half a day, collect. With enough stations running in parallel, daily jam income can reach 100,000 coins or more. See the automation article for general tips on streamlining production chains.
Tips
Build the Jam Maker alongside the Brewing Barrel and Pickling Jar. All three stations produce intermediate cooking ingredients that advanced recipes require.
Keep a steady supply of Sugarcane growing. Sugar is required for every jam batch, and Sugarcane is an all-season crop that never goes out of rotation.
Process excess fruit into jam rather than selling raw fruit. The price increase from raw fruit to finished jam is substantial, even before factoring in Merchant Ship bonuses.
Watermelon and Star Mango are popular choices for mass jam production because their trees produce large quantities and the resulting jams have strong base sell values.
Place a storage chest next to your Jam Maker cluster to stockpile fruit and sugar. This saves trips back and forth to your main storage.
Jams stack in your inventory, so storage is not an issue even with high-volume production. Sell them in batches whenever the Merchant Ship is in port for the best return.
