Overview

Graminova is the Farming Mentor and runs the Happiness Seed Shop in Starsand Town. Unlike most characters on the island, Graminova is a native resident, born and raised on Starsand Island. He holds a PhD in agricultural studies and returned to the island to dedicate himself to soil and crop research. Both of his parents live on the island: his mother Matilda and his father Sagewood.

Personality

Graminova is calm, quiet, thoughtful, and intensely focused. He was the aloof boy-next-door from your childhood, and that reserved nature has carried into adulthood. When he speaks, he speaks with seriousness and measured words. Many islanders mistake his reserved nature for grumpiness, but he is simply shy and deeply absorbed in his botanical research.

He can come across as cold and distant at first, but beneath that stoic exterior exists a deeply thoughtful soul. His kindness manifests practically: he observes neighbors' agricultural problems, meticulously documents the issues, and resolves them quietly without being asked. For Graminova, actions will always speak louder than words.

Background

Graminova was the province's highest scorer on the university entrance exams and pursued agricultural studies at age 18. By 25, he had earned his PhD and completed a postdoctoral fellowship. He returned to Starsand Island at 27 to dedicate himself entirely to soil and crop research, with the goal of developing new hybrid fruits and vegetables better suited to island life. He follows in his father Sagewood's footsteps as an agricultural expert.

His only significant leisure activity involves unwinding at home before bed by listening to classical music. On rainy days, he abandons fieldwork entirely and spends the full day inside the Happiness Seed Shop, making rainy days a reliable time to find him indoors.

Daily Schedule

Graminova follows a consistent routine centered around the Happiness Seed Shop and its surrounding farm plots. His schedule shifts slightly on rainy days, when he stays indoors all day.

Graminova can also be spotted tilling fields in town next to Ethereal Styles. His bedroom is upstairs in the Happiness Seed Shop (stairs around the back), but you need at least 3 hearts before you can enter. To track Graminova at any time, open your phone's Social app and use the Locate or Follow feature.

Gift Preferences

Graminova accepts one gift per day. Loved gifts give +15 Affection Points and liked gifts give +10. As the Farming Mentor, he favors crops, seeds, and flowers. He reacts to loved gifts with a flowery aura around his head. See the Gift Guide for a full comparison of all characters' preferences.

Graminova loves virtually any growable crop that you harvest, along with seeds and certain foraged items. This makes him one of the easiest romanceable characters to gift, since you accumulate crops naturally through farming.

Quests and Role

As the Farming Mentor, Graminova certifies you through the Farmer profession tiers: Apprentice, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, and Expert. Visit the Happiness Seed Shop to begin the farming questline. He gives you Ripening Fertilizer IV and tasks you with growing Wheat as your first assignment.

He sells seeds, saplings, equipment, and blueprints. Higher-tier items are locked behind higher farming certifications, so you need to progress through the questline to access his full inventory. His shop carries 20+ blueprints ranging from 400 to 55,000 coins, including Fertilizer Boxes, Sprinkler systems, artisan machines (Jam Maker, Brewing Barrel, Pickling Jar), and the Expert-tier Greenhouse Building Manual for season-independent growing.

Graminova also supplies crops to Aurelis's kitchen at Aureleaf Kitchen, reflecting his role as the island's primary agricultural producer.

Romance

Graminova triggers a special meet-cute cutscene the first time you interact with him. His romance arc rewards patience. He starts out cold and distant, but gradually warms up as your Affection grows.
