Overview
Jobs are the primary way for Zois to earn Meow in inZOI. There are over 20 organizations across Dowon and Bliss Bay, each offering career paths with multiple promotion levels. Only Zois in the Young Adult through Middle-Aged life stages can hold jobs. Children and teens attend school instead, and elders are retired.
How to get a job
Open the smartphone (press P) and tap the Career app. The app lists all available positions in the current city. Browse through the organizations, pick a position, and apply. Applications are accepted immediately with no interview process or admission requirements. The only restriction is the Zoi's life stage: they must be a Young Adult, Adult, or Middle-Aged Zoi.

When applying, choose between Full-Time and Part-Time where both options exist. Part-time positions have fewer working days and no promotion ladder. Full-time careers offer advancement through multiple levels with increasing pay.
A Zoi can only hold one job at a time. Switching careers means quitting the current position first. Attending university and holding a job simultaneously is not allowed.
Career types
On-site (active) careers
On-site careers let the player view the workplace interior and directly control the Zoi while they perform tasks and mini-games during their shift. This hands-on approach gives players more agency over their Zoi's work life and leads to faster promotions because performance is directly tied to player input.
Off-site (rabbit hole) careers
Off-site careers work like rabbit holes. The Zoi disappears into the workplace building and the player receives periodic updates about what is happening during the shift. Random events pop up during work hours, presenting choices that can affect the Zoi's mood, relationships with coworkers, and job performance. Promotions in rabbit hole careers are slower because the player has less direct control over outcomes.
Promotions
Advancing through career levels requires completing To-Do List tasks at work and meeting skill level requirements. Each career level has a list of objectives that the Zoi must finish before becoming eligible for promotion. These objectives vary by career but typically involve performing specific work actions, building certain skills to a required level, or completing assignments.
Once all promotion requirements are met, the Zoi advances to the next level automatically at the end of their shift. Higher levels unlock better pay and, in some cases, reduced working hours.

Freelance work
Not all income comes from formal employment. Zois can earn Meow through several freelance activities:
Authorship - Writing and publishing books using the Critical Thinking skill. Completed manuscripts can be sold for Meow.
Selling creations - Art (paintings), gardening (bonsai and harvested crops), and programming (digital products) all produce sellable items. Paintings and bonsai can be sold via the Pocket Market on the smartphone. Digital creations sell through the computer.
Busking - Zois with the Instrument or Performance skill can perform music on the street for tips.
Freelance income varies depending on the Zoi's skill level and the quality of whatever they produce. A high-level painter will earn more per painting than a beginner.
Business ownership
The December 2025 update added business ownership to inZOI. Zois can now own and operate their own businesses rather than working for an organization. This expands the economic options beyond traditional employment and freelance work. Business owners earn revenue from customer traffic and manage their establishments through Build Mode and direct interaction.
Career tips
Criminal careers (Dowon Solutions Boss at 2,168/week, Westside Hustler Boss at 2,169/week) pay the most per shift, but they come with negative karma consequences.
The Lawyer Partner position at Justitia or Themis & Jones offers the best hourly rate at roughly 340 Meow per hour thanks to the short 9 AM - 3 PM schedule.
Part-time jobs at convenience stores and shops require no skill investment and provide steady income while the Zoi develops other skills.
Building relevant skills before applying speeds up promotions. For example, leveling Programming before joining DW Soft or Blue Moon Soft means the to-do list tasks are easier to complete.
Idol Trainee is the only career with an age restriction beyond the standard range. Plan accordingly if the Zoi is close to aging up.
