Overview

Jobs are the primary way for Zois to earn Meow in inZOI. There are over 30 organizations across the three playable cities: Dowon (13 employers), Bliss Bay (12 employers), and Cahaya (9 employers, added with the Island Getaway DLC). Each organization offers a career path with multiple promotion levels, increasing pay, and in some cases reduced hours at higher ranks.

Only Zois in the Young Adult through Middle-Aged life stages can hold jobs. Children and teens attend school instead, and Seniors are automatically retired. A Zoi can hold only one job at a time. Switching careers means quitting the current position first, and attending university and holding a job simultaneously is not allowed.

How to Get a Job

Open the smartphone (press P) and tap the Career app. The app lists all available positions in the current city, organized by employer. Browse organizations, pick a position, and apply. Applications are accepted immediately with no interview or admission requirements. The only restriction is age: Zois must be Young Adult, Adult, or Middle-Aged.

When applying, choose between Full-Time and Part-Time where both options exist. Part-time positions have fewer working days and no promotion ladder. Full-time careers offer advancement through multiple levels with increasing pay. Some jobs are city-exclusive, meaning a Zoi must live in or travel to a specific city to access certain employers.

After accepting a job, the Zoi receives a confirmation text message on the smartphone. The first shift usually begins the next working day according to the employer's schedule. If the Zoi already holds a job, they must resign from it before applying elsewhere.

Career Types

inZOI divides careers into two main categories based on how the player experiences the Zoi's workday. For a detailed side-by-side breakdown, see the Active vs Rabbit Hole Careers article.

Active (On-Site) Careers

Active careers let the player view the workplace interior and directly control the Zoi during their shift. The workday is split into two halves, each with a set of timed tasks displayed in the To-Do List (top-left corner of the screen). Tasks typically involve performing specific work actions such as operating equipment, assisting customers, or completing skill checks. Finishing all tasks before the timer runs out fills the promotion bar and may earn a Meow bonus. Failing tasks reduces job experience. This hands-on approach leads to faster promotions, typically 3 to 4 working days per rank.

Active careers in the base game include the Idol Trainee and Entertainment Planning tracks at Adam Entertainment, the Firefighter career at Dowon Fire Station, the Amusement Park career at Bliss Bay Amusement Park, and several part-time retail jobs like the convenience store and furniture store positions.

Rabbit Hole (Off-Site) Careers

Rabbit hole careers send the Zoi off-screen via taxi. The player cannot see or control the Zoi at work, but receives periodic updates and workplace event choices during the shift. These events present two options and can influence the Zoi's mood, relationships with coworkers, or job performance. Promotions are slower, typically 8 to 10 working days per rank, because the player has less direct control over the Zoi's performance. With Autonomy enabled in the settings, Zois attend rabbit hole jobs automatically when a shift begins.

Most careers in Dowon and Bliss Bay are rabbit hole positions, including law, technology, journalism, military, education, corporate, and criminal careers. All nine Cahaya careers are also rabbit hole positions.

Promotions

Each career tracks progress toward the next rank through a career bar visible in the Career app under "My Career." When the bar reaches 100%, the Zoi receives a promotion the next morning before heading to work, along with a text notification confirming the new rank and salary.

For active careers, the bar fills primarily by completing To-Do List tasks during shifts. Each career level has specific objectives, often involving performing certain work actions or building relevant skills to a required level. The faster and more consistently a Zoi completes tasks, the quicker the bar fills. Failing tasks or performing poorly actively reduces progress.

Rabbit Hole Career Advancement

For rabbit hole careers, the career bar fills gradually based on attendance. Simply showing up for each scheduled shift adds progress. Work event choices during the shift can provide small bonuses or penalties to the bar. Because the player cannot directly control task completion, advancement takes roughly twice as long as active careers.

If the career bar is full but the Zoi has not been promoted, it may indicate that no vacancy exists for the next position. In this case, the Zoi must wait until a slot opens. Higher ranks unlock better pay and, in some cases, reduced hours or fewer working days per week. All Zois must start at the entry-level position regardless of their skill levels, though building relevant skills before applying speeds up the promotion process once employed.

Work Performance and Bonuses

Active career shifts are divided into two halves, each with its own set of timed tasks. Completing all tasks in a half before the timer expires earns a Meow bonus on top of the regular daily salary. If a Zoi finishes all tasks for the entire shift early, they can leave work ahead of schedule without penalty. This early leave mechanic rewards skilled play and high-level Zois who can complete tasks quickly.

Making the work schedule shorter through in-game settings can negatively affect promotion speed. The game tracks total hours worked, so reducing shift length means less career bar progress per day. For Zois who want to maximize their advancement speed, working the full scheduled hours is important.

Getting Fired

Three unexcused absences result in termination. The Zoi receives a "Termination of Employee" text message on the smartphone. After being fired, the Zoi can apply for other jobs immediately or reapply for the same position if a vacancy exists. All promotion progress resets when reapplying. Missing work without quitting counts as an unexcused absence, so players should resign through the Career app's "My Career" tab if they plan to take a break from employment.

Senior Retirement

All Seniors are automatically retired when they age into the Senior life stage. Their current job is terminated immediately. Seniors cannot hold careers. Players can disable aging in simulation settings to prevent forced retirement.

The Idol Trainee career at Adam Entertainment has an additional age restriction: it enforces mandatory retirement as soon as the Zoi ages up to Adult. This makes it the only career in the game with an age ceiling below the Senior life stage.

Commute

Zois leave home approximately 1 hour before their shift starts (for example, leaving at 8 AM for a 9 AM shift). This travel time is automatic and cannot be skipped. The Zoi boards a taxi for rabbit hole careers or travels to the workplace for active careers. The Career app on the smartphone shows the daily schedule, including shift times, so players can plan around the commute window.

Dowon Careers

The city of Dowon has 13 organizations offering employment. Dowon is the Seoul-inspired urban center and features both active workplaces and rabbit hole offices. Salaries shown below are per workday and represent the entry-level and top-rank pay for the full-time track.

Dowon's highest-paying career is the criminal path at Dowon Solutions, where the Boss rank earns 2,169 Meow per shift. The Lawyer career at Justitia offers the best hourly rate at roughly 340 Meow per hour thanks to its 6-hour shift (9AM to 3PM). The Firefighter career is the only Dowon position with five promotion ranks, offering the longest career progression in the city.

Bliss Bay Careers

Bliss Bay has 12 organizations. The coastal, Los Angeles-inspired city mirrors some of Dowon's offerings under different employer names while adding unique options like the Amusement Park, Nautilus football club, and beachside retail shops.

Bliss Bay shares several career types with Dowon under different employer names. The Westside Hustler gang is the Bliss Bay equivalent of Dowon Solutions, offering the same criminal career path and salary. Themis & Jones offers a higher entry salary (450 Meow) for lawyers compared to Dowon's Justitia (300 Meow), though both cap at the same Partner salary of 2,040 Meow.

Cahaya Careers

The Island Getaway DLC (v0.3.0) introduced nine careers exclusive to Cahaya. All Cahaya careers are full-time rabbit hole jobs. There are no part-time or active careers on the island. See the Cahaya Careers article for full details on each position.

Cahaya Rank Details

All Cahaya careers with three ranks follow a trainee-to-expert progression. The Farmer and Miner positions have no advancement path. Meow amounts shown in parentheses are the daily salary at each rank.

Freelance Work

Not all income comes from formal employment. Zois can earn Meow through several freelance activities that do not require applying through the Career app. Freelance income varies by skill level and product quality. High-level creators can exceed formal career salaries.

Freelance Delivery Career

The March 2026 update introduced the Freelance Delivery career, also called the Courier career. Zois can accept delivery orders from clients and transport items to destinations around the city. Unlike traditional careers, Freelance Delivery does not require applying through the Career app and operates on a pick-up-and-deliver basis with flexible scheduling. This provides an alternative income source for Zois who prefer working independently without fixed shifts.

Business Ownership

The v0.5.0 update (December 2025) added the Small Business System. Zois can own and operate their own commercial enterprises, earning revenue from customer traffic and managing daily operations through the Business App on the smartphone. Business ownership is separate from holding a career and provides a second income stream.

There are multiple business types available. The original v0.5.0 release included cafes, bakeries, restaurants, bars, gyms, and schools. The March 2026 update expanded the system with flower shops (florists), movie theaters, and massage parlors.

Business income varies depending on whether the player is actively present at the lot. Actively managing a gym can earn around 18,000 to 20,000 Meow per day, while the same gym generates roughly 6,000 Meow on days when the player does not visit. Upcoming Career Content

The 2026 roadmap announced in December 2025 outlines several career system expansions planned throughout the year:

• Police Career: A full police career system including patrol cars, real-time criminal searches, on-site arrests, and police station procedures.

• Beauty and Salon Careers: Careers related to beauty and salon services tied to the appearance customization system, including hair salons.

• Multiple Jobs: Support for Zois holding more than one job simultaneously.

• Job Interviews: An interview process added to the application system for certain positions.

• Remote Work: The ability for Zois to work from home for compatible careers.

• Performance Evaluation: A more detailed performance review system that influences promotions and pay raises.

• Teen Part-Time Jobs: Expanded part-time jobs accessible to teenage Zois, broadening employment options for younger life stages.

These features are expected to roll out gradually across quarterly updates throughout 2026. The development team has emphasized a "Fundamentals First" approach, focusing on strengthening the game's core job, building, and terrain editing systems.

• Building relevant skills before applying speeds up promotions. For example, leveling the Programming skill before joining DW Soft helps fill the career bar faster.

• The Idol Trainee career is the only one with an age ceiling: mandatory retirement when the Zoi ages up to Adult. Plan accordingly if pursuing this path.

• Switching careers resets all promotion progress. Consider reaching the top rank before changing jobs to maximize lifetime earnings.

• Three unexcused absences gets your Zoi fired. If you need time off, resign through the Career app first.

• Seniors are auto-retired. Plan your Zoi's career timeline so they reach top ranks before aging into the Senior life stage.

• A Zoi can only hold one job at a time. Use off-days for freelance income or business management to supplement career earnings.

• For active careers, completing tasks quickly earns bonus Meow and can trigger early leave. The faster the Zoi's relevant skill level, the easier the tasks become.

• Rabbit hole career promotions are slow (8 to 10 working days per rank). Patience is key, and missing even one shift sets back progress significantly.

• The Gym is the most profitable business type when actively managed, generating up to 20,000 Meow per day with zero crafting material costs.

• Cahaya's Farmer and Miner positions have no promotion path and pay only 120 Meow/day. They exist for roleplay purposes rather than income optimization.

• Bliss Bay's Themis & Jones starts lawyers at 450 Meow versus Dowon's Justitia at 300 Meow. If your Zoi lives in Bliss Bay, the law career has a better entry salary.
