Overview
Cahaya is the tropical island city in inZOI, introduced as part of the free Island Getaway DLC. The word "Cahaya" means "light" in Malay and Indonesian, and the city draws heavy inspiration from Southeast Asian culture, architecture, and landscapes. The island was originally announced under the working name Kucingku ("My Cat" in Indonesian/Malay) during the Early Access period, but KRAFTON renamed it to Cahaya ahead of the August 2025 launch. Some players still refer to the area by its former name.
Reveal and Launch
Cahaya was first teased via YouTube on July 28, 2025, with a full reveal and launch at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19, 2025. The DLC released the following day, August 20, 2025, as a free update for all inZOI owners. It was one of the largest updates since the Early Access launch, adding an entirely new world plus gameplay systems (swimming, farming, mining, boating, and snorkeling) that affected the entire game. The same update also introduced inter-city travel, allowing Zois to move between Dowon, Bliss Bay, and Cahaya freely.
Cahaya is composed of three distinct islands: the main island, where Zois can live and work; the resort island, home to the Sri Lestari Resort; and a deserted island, a mysterious landmass between the other two that offers survival-oriented gameplay. Each island has its own personality and set of activities, connected by boats and water taxis.
The Three Islands
Main Island
The main island is the working heart of Cahaya, where Zois earn a living and build their daily routines. It features residential lots, farmland, parks, mining spots, a library, and the Miatara Temple. Named locations on the main island include Cahaya Farmland, Xiang Park, Bliss Garden, and Harang River Park.

The main island supports a wide range of activities:
Activity | Description |
|---|---|
Farming | Grow crops on dirt plots that hold up to 4 plants simultaneously. Exclusive tropical crops (banana and mango trees) are available alongside standard vegetables. Sell produce at a market stall or use it for cooking. |
Mining | Gather minerals and gemstones at mining spots scattered across the island (Xiang Park, Bliss Garden, Cahaya Farmland, Harang River Park). Pickaxes can be purchased at the Farm Store or crafted at a crafting table. |
Gem Cutting and Jewelry | Mine raw gemstones (iron, sodalite, silver, gold, diamond), then refine them into jewels and craft accessories at a crafting table. |
Fishing | Cast a line from shores, docks, or the back of a rented boat. A wide variety of fish species are catchable across Cahaya's freshwater and saltwater spots. Rods can be bought, found, or crafted. See the Fishing article for the full fish catalog. |
Market Stalls | Set up a Secondhand Sales Counter or a Wider Sales Stall (330 Meow upgrade) anywhere on the main island. Sell harvested crops, crafted jewelry, fish, and other items directly to customers. |
Resale Store | A delivery-style NPC shop in the center of Cahaya Village where players can sell items without setting up their own stall. |
Resort Island
The resort island is Cahaya's luxury destination, anchored by the Sri Lestari Resort. It caters to relaxation, recreation, and underwater exploration. Zois can visit as day-trippers or stay in one of the resort's villa accommodations.
The resort offers three tiers of accommodation:
Villa Tier | Description |
|---|---|
Garden Villa | The entry-level option with garden views. Affordable for short stays. |
Premier Ocean View Villa | Mid-range rooms with panoramic ocean views and closer beach access. |
Private Water Villa | The premium tier. Overwater bungalows with direct ocean access, the most exclusive accommodation on the island. |
Resort facilities and activities include:
Facility | Description |
|---|---|
Swimming Pools | Resort pools for safe swimming and relaxation. No ocean hazards here. |
Snorkeling Stalls | Located at Barat Beach. Rent equipment in three tiers: Beginner, Diver, and Ocean Pro. Each tier unlocks deeper exploration. See the Snorkeling section below for details. |
Massage Zone (Spa) | Foot, hand, scalp, and full-body massages are available, along with fish or rose foot soaks and sauna sessions. A spa pass is required. |
Bars and Clubs | Nightlife venues with DJs for socializing and dancing. |
Arcade | Exchange Meow for Resort Coins to play games. |
Billiards and Bowling | Recreation activities available at resort lots. |
Great White Shark Display | Located in the resort lobby. A large display exhibit. |
Coin Exchange Kiosk | Located near the information desk. Turn snorkeling collectibles (sea urchins, marine specimens) into Resort Coins that can be redeemed for unique resort-exclusive items. |
Deserted Island
A mysterious landmass situated between the main island and the resort island. The deserted island is accessible by rented boat or water taxi, but only when weather conditions are favorable. It offers a survival-oriented gameplay experience that contrasts with the relaxed pace of the other two islands.
Activities on the deserted island focus on exploration and resource gathering. Zois can search uncharted terrain, collect rare materials, and discover unique treasures. After natural disasters such as heavy rainstorms, the island may contain additional treasures and materials that were not previously accessible. The isolated setting makes it a more challenging and rewarding destination for adventurous players.
Miatara Temple
The Miatara Temple is Cahaya's most distinctive and spiritually significant landmark. It sits on the main island and is accessible by boat or water taxi. The temple complex is divided into two main areas: the Supelaem building, where yoga is practiced on provided mats, and the main temple building, where the sacred Guardian Cats reside.
Activities and features at the Miatara Temple:
Activity | Description |
|---|---|
Meditate with Cats | Sit with the Guardian Cats at the main temple. Sacred cats may give gifts to Zois who spend time with them. |
Offer Cat Treat / Catnip Candy | Purchase treats from the Cat Temple Shop, then offer them at the Guardian Statue's incense burner podium. Offering treats rewards Karma. |
Yoga | Practice yoga at the Supelaem building by interacting with any of the provided mats. Improves mood and contributes to skill progression. |
Wish Tree | Located just outside the main temple building. Interact with the board to submit a wish. |
Fortune Sticks | Use the Fortune Stick Tube (10 Meow) next to the Wish Tree. Drawing a fortune produces random results that can shift the Zoi's emotions or Karma, either positively or negatively. |
Cat Temple Shop | The Temple Souvenir Shop is located at the top-left of the temple complex. Sells cat treats, cat toys, talismans, and Catnip Candy. |
Transportation

Getting around Cahaya's three islands and traveling to other cities involves several transportation options:
Boats
Blue rental huts at docks offer boat rentals. Players choose from multiple boat types at different price points, including the Old Jet Boat, Skiff, Troller, Hydrojet, and Catamaran. Boats can be steered freely in any direction, allowing Zois to sail between islands, explore coastlines, go fishing from the water, or launch diving and snorkeling trips from deeper waters.
Water Taxis
Bright yellow water taxis provide free instant fast travel between all dock locations across the three islands. They function like public transport in other inZOI cities, making it easy to move between the main island, resort island, and deserted island (weather permitting) without needing to rent a boat.
Inter-City Travel
Zois can travel between Cahaya, Dowon, and Bliss Bay by using the smartphone or computer and selecting "How to Travel to Another City." Alternatively, Zois can take the airport shuttle or seaplane. This feature was added in the same v0.3.0 update that introduced Cahaya, allowing players to freely explore all three cities within a single save.
Cahaya Careers
The Island Getaway DLC introduced nine full-time careers specific to Cahaya. All positions are rabbit hole jobs, meaning Zois leave the lot and work off-screen. There are no part-time jobs on Cahaya, unlike Dowon and Bliss Bay. Salary figures below show the starting pay and the highest promotion tier.
Career | Starting Pay (Meow/day) | Top Pay (Meow/day) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Tour Guide | 300 | 1,100 | Work for a travel agency showing visitors around the island. A good fit for social, outdoorsy Zois. |
Lawyer | 450 | 2,040 | Start as a Junior Lawyer, progress to Senior Lawyer, then Partner. One of the highest-paying legitimate careers on the island. |
Criminal / Gang Member | 360 | 2,169 | The single best salary in the expansion at the Boss level. High risk, high reward. |
Taxi Driver | 270 | 950 | Covers both road and water taxi routes between the three islands. |
Yoga Instructor | 260 | 900 | Lead yoga and meditation classes. Low stress, modest wages. |
Sea Turtle Conservationist | 280 | 1,000 | Start as a Nestwatcher, advance to Hatching Support Volunteer, then Marine Ecology Guardian. |
Farmer | 120 | ~400 | Short morning shifts, 7 days a week. Low pay, but leaves time for farming, mining, or fishing on the side. |
Miner | 120 | ~400 | Same structure as farming. Supplement income by selling gems found during off-hours. |
Researcher (Natap Encyclopedia) | ~200 | ~600 | Investigating and paperwork for the Natap Encyclopedia Association. The lowest-paying career on the island. |
Beyond formal careers, Zois on Cahaya can also earn Meow by living off the land. Farming crops and selling them at market stalls, mining and crafting jewelry, and fishing are all viable income sources that do not require a traditional career.
Swimming and Snorkeling
The Swimming skill was introduced alongside Cahaya in the v0.3.0 update and works in both oceans and pools across all cities. In Cahaya, swimming is essential for accessing deeper snorkeling and diving content. Zois improve their Swimming skill by practicing in the water, including exercises like holding their breath. A Zoi's Energy level must be monitored while swimming; if it drops too low, the Zoi risks drowning.
Snorkeling equipment can be rented at the snorkeling stand on Barat Beach (right side of the Cahaya map). Three equipment tiers are available:
Equipment Tier | Description |
|---|---|
Beginner Set | Recommended for new players. Allows basic underwater exploration in shallow waters. |
Diver Set | Mid-range equipment for moderately deep areas. Access to more marine life. |
Ocean Pro Set | The highest tier. Required for the deepest exploration zones, including submerged temples and treasure sites. |
Once underwater, Zois can swim with fish, observe sea turtles and dolphins in marked zones on the map, explore vibrant coral reefs, and even discover ancient temples submerged on the sea floor that may contain treasure. Dangerous marine life, including sharks and jellyfish, can also be encountered. With a high enough Swimming skill, Zois can swim out to deeper waters directly or rent a boat and dive from its deck.
Items collected while snorkeling (sea urchins, marine specimens, and other collectibles) can be sold at the Coin Exchange Kiosk in the Sri Lestari Resort for Resort Coins, which are redeemable for exclusive resort items.

Mining and Gem Cutting
Mining is one of Cahaya's core activities, available at mineral deposits scattered across the main island. Key mining locations include Xiang Park, Bliss Garden, Cahaya Farmland, and Harang River Park. To mine, Zois need a pickaxe, which comes in three quality tiers:
Pickaxe Type | How to Obtain |
|---|---|
Stone Pickaxe | Purchase from the Farm Store in southeast Cahaya, or craft at a crafting table. |
Copper Pickaxe | Purchase from the Farm Store, or craft at a crafting table. |
Steel Pickaxe | Purchase from the Farm Store, or craft at a crafting table. Best yield and durability. |
Pickaxes purchased from the Farm Store in Cahaya are usable across all cities, not just on the island. Mining yields raw materials including iron, sodalite, silver, gold, and diamond. These raw gemstones can then be refined at a crafting table into finished jewels. The crafting table offers two interaction types: crafting tools (pickaxes, fishing rods) and crafting jewelry (rings, necklaces, and other accessories in copper, silver, iron, golden, and diamond variants).
Crafted jewelry can be worn by Zois, displayed in homes, or sold at market stalls and the resale store for Meow. Higher-quality materials produce more valuable finished pieces.
Farming on Cahaya
Cahaya introduces an expanded farming system that is more space-efficient than home lot gardening in the base game. Dirt plots on Cahaya can hold up to 4 crops simultaneously, compared to single plants on standard garden plots. Island residents receive a free farming kit that includes a pitchfork and watering can. Additional tools and seeds can be purchased at the Farm Store.
Six seed types are available at the Cahaya farming supply store:
Seed | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
7 Meow | Also available in the base game. | |
7 Meow | Also available in the base game. | |
7 Meow | Also available in the base game. | |
7 Meow | Also available in the base game. | |
Banana Tree Seedling | 4 Meow | Exclusive to Cahaya. Occupies an entire plot. Takes about one in-game week to become harvestable. |
Mango Tree Seedling | 4 Meow | Exclusive to Cahaya. Occupies an entire plot. Takes about one in-game week to become harvestable. |
Banana and mango trees are unique because they remain planted after harvest if the Nutrient Intake stays above 80%. When this condition is met, the tree produces another harvest roughly half a day later, making them a recurring source of income. Each tree yields 4 to 5 fruits per harvest. Normal fruits sell for 8 Meow, while special or large fruits sell for 20 Meow.
Farming plots display a status readout showing moisture content, nutrient intake, and time remaining until harvest. Seed prices on Cahaya can fluctuate based on availability and events like natural disasters. Bad floods may damage crops, so planning and maintaining multiple plots is advisable.
Cahaya farming and base-game Gardening share the same skill. All farming activities on the island (planting, watering, fertilizing, harvesting) contribute experience toward the Gardening skill.
Natural Disasters
Cahaya features its own unique natural disaster system. Heavy rain is the primary natural disaster on the island, bringing frequent lightning strikes that prevent Zois from driving cars during storms. Flooding can damage crops on farming plots, potentially ruining an entire harvest if plots are not tended promptly after a storm passes.
The deserted island benefits from natural disasters in an unusual way: after heavy storms, unique treasures and materials may appear on its shores and terrain that were not accessible before. Adventurous Zois who visit the deserted island after a storm can find rare items and resources.
Residential Living
Zois can settle permanently on Cahaya's main island by purchasing a residential lot. Housing options range from simple micro-budget houses with gardens to premium properties with swimming pools. The cheapest empty plot starts at around 2,000 Meow. To move to Cahaya, players click on an uninhabited lot (shown as a gray lot symbol on the map) and follow the moving process, which displays the household's current assets alongside the cost of the new property.
Moving to Cahaya from another city (Dowon or Bliss Bay) is possible through the inter-city travel system. However, players should be aware that relationships with Zois in other cities will pause during the move. The Island Getaway DLC must be installed to access Cahaya as a residential destination.
Base Game Additions
The v0.3.0 update that launched alongside the Island Getaway DLC also delivered major additions to the base game, affecting all cities:
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Swimming Mechanics | A full Swimming system working in oceans and pools across all locations. Includes a new Swimming skill, energy management, and drowning risk. |
Farming System | Farming plots and the Gardening skill expansion were added to the base game, not just Cahaya. Players in any city can set up farming plots. |
Inter-City Travel | Zois can now travel between Dowon, Bliss Bay, and Cahaya via smartphone, computer, airport shuttle, or seaplane. |
Ghost Play | Ability to continue playing as a ghost after a Zoi's death. |
14 New Vehicles | Motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters usable in all cities. Designed for Cahaya's narrow island paths but available everywhere. |
Expanded Edit City | Additional decoration types and animal placement options for all locations in Edit City mode. |
Swimming Pools and Elevators | New Build Mode items: swimming pools and elevators, along with new roof designs. |
macOS Release | inZOI launched on macOS the same day, requiring Apple Silicon M2 with 16 GB unified memory. |
In total, the v0.3.0 update introduced swimming, snorkeling, fishing, farming, natural disasters, mining, jewel crafting, market stalls, item resales, loans, insurance, budget management, 56 new character customization items, and 104 new building options.
Reception
The Island Getaway DLC was widely well received, largely because it was entirely free. Swimming had been one of the most frequently requested features by the community, and the tropical island setting provided a refreshing contrast to Dowon and Bliss Bay's urban environments. The depth of new gameplay systems (farming, mining, snorkeling, boating, new careers) combined with the base game improvements demonstrated KRAFTON's commitment to delivering regular, substantial free updates during the Early Access period.
Tips
Install the Island Getaway DLC before launching the game. Cahaya is only accessible with the DLC installed, even though it is free.
Use the free water taxis for fast travel between Cahaya's three islands. There is no cost, and it is instant.
Start farming early. The free farming kit includes everything you need to begin, and banana and mango trees provide recurring harvests if you keep Nutrient Intake above 80%.
Purchase a pickaxe from the Farm Store as soon as you arrive. Mining and selling crafted jewelry is one of the most profitable non-career activities on the island.
Visit the deserted island after storms. Natural disasters can reveal rare treasures and materials that are not available during fair weather.
Level up the Swimming skill before attempting deep snorkeling dives. Higher skill levels unlock access to deeper waters, submerged temples, and treasure.
Exchange snorkeling collectibles at the Coin Exchange Kiosk in the Sri Lestari Resort for Resort Coins. These coins buy exclusive items not available anywhere else.
The Lawyer and Criminal careers offer the highest salaries on Cahaya, but farming and mining provide more flexible schedules and leave time for other island activities.
Offer cat treats at the Miatara Temple's Guardian Statue to earn Karma. Buy treats at the Cat Temple Shop before climbing the temple stairs.
Set up a Wider Sales Stall (330 Meow) on the main island to maximize your market stall income from crops, fish, and crafted goods.
Monitor the weather. Heavy rain prevents car driving and can flood your farming plots, so harvest crops before major storms when possible.
If moving to Cahaya from another city, note that relationships with Zois in your previous city will be paused. Plan accordingly.
