Overview
Cahaya is the development codename and community name for inZOI's tropical island location. The word means "light" in Malay and Indonesian. Before the August 2025 launch, the location was renamed to Kucingku ("My Cat" in Indonesian/Malay), and the Cahaya name was preserved for the temple on the main island. Players still commonly call the whole area Cahaya.
The DLC's official title is "Island Getaway". It was released on August 20, 2025 as a free update for all inZOI owners, first announced at Gamescom 2025. It was one of the largest updates since Early Access launch, adding a new location plus gameplay systems that affected the entire game.
The three islands
Main island
The working island where Zois earn a living. Activities include:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Farming | Grow crops, harvest them, and sell at market. Farming was added as a base game feature alongside the DLC. |
Mining | Gather minerals and gemstones using crafted pickaxes. Pickaxes are crafted at a crafting table in your yard. The Farm Store in Cahaya sells pickaxes usable across all cities. |
Fishing | Cast a line from shores or boats. A wide range of fish species are catchable across Cahaya and other cities. |
Gem cutting | Mined gemstones can be cut and refined for sale or decoration. |
The main island also houses the Miatara Temple (described below) and residential lots where Zois can settle permanently.
Resort island
The luxury destination, anchored by the Sri Lestari Resort. Facilities include:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Accommodation | Three tiers. Garden Villa, Premier Ocean View Villa, and Private Water Villa. |
Swimming pools | Resort pools for safe swimming and relaxation. |
Snorkeling stalls | Rent equipment at beach stalls (three tiers: Beginner, Diver, Ocean Pro). Explore coral reefs, sea turtles, and dolphins. Watch for sharks and jellyfish. |
Spa | Foot, hand, scalp, and full-body massages plus sauna sessions at the Massage Zone. |
Bars and clubs | Nightlife venues with DJs. |
Arcade | Exchange Meow for Resort Coins to play games. |
Great white shark display | Located in the resort lobby. |
Billiards and bowling | Recreation activities available at resort lots. |
Coin Exchange Kiosk | Turn snorkeling collectibles (sea urchins, marine specimens) into Resort Coins for special items. |
Deserted island
A mysterious landmass between the main and resort islands. Accessible by boat or water taxi in favorable weather. Offers survival-oriented gameplay. Resource gathering, uncharted terrain exploration, and a more isolated experience. After natural disasters, the island may contain unique treasures.
Miatara Temple
Cahaya's most distinctive landmark, accessible by boat or water taxi. Two main areas: the Supelaem building (yoga on mats) and the main temple where Guardian Cats reside.
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Meditate with Cat | Sit with sacred cats that may give gifts. |
Yoga | Practice at the Supelaem on provided mats. |
Wish Tree | Submit wishes at the board outside the temple. |
Fortune Sticks | Use the Fortune Stick Tube (10 Meow). Random results can shift emotions or karma. |
Cat Temple Shop | Buy treats, toys, talismans, and Catnip Candy. |
Transportation
Boats and water taxis connect the three islands. Blue rental huts at docks offer five boat types (Old Jet Boat, Skiff, Troller, Hydrojet, Catamaran) at different price points. Bright yellow water taxis provide free instant fast travel between all dock locations. Zois can also travel between cities by booking flights on their smartphone.
Cahaya careers
The DLC introduced several rabbit hole careers specific to Cahaya: tour guide trainee, turtle nestwatcher, encyclopedia investigator, taxi driver, meditation and yoga assistant, farmer, and miner. Freelancer jobs were also added. A new work category where Zois complete tasks on their own schedule without reporting to a fixed workplace.
Base game additions
The Island Getaway update also affected the entire game, not just the island:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Swimming mechanics | A full swimming system working in oceans and pools across all locations. |
Ghost play | Ability to continue playing as a ghost after death. |
14 new vehicles | Motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters usable in all cities. Designed for Cahaya's narrow paths but available everywhere. |
Expanded Edit City | Additional decoration types and animal placement options for all locations. |
macOS release | inZOI launched on macOS the same day, requiring Apple Silicon M2 with 16GB unified memory. |
Reception
The DLC was well received, largely because it was free. Swimming was a frequently requested feature, and the tropical setting provided a contrast to Dowon and Bliss Bay's urban environments. The island content proved KRAFTON's commitment to regular free updates during Early Access.
