causes of fire
Fires in inZOI have several causes, ranging from everyday household risk to deliberate acts:
Electronic devices using electronics carries a random fire risk. The chance increases when multiple devices are running simultaneously. Wall-mounted TVs are particularly prone to overheating and catching fire. Malfunctioning or heavily used appliances also pose a higher risk.
Cooking kitchen mishaps while preparing food can ignite fires, especially for Zois with low Cooking skill. Leaving a stove unattended increases the chance. See restaurants and dining for cooking details.
Arson a Zoi may start a fire deliberately. Player-ordered arson is not fully implemented in the current build, but NPC Zois with certain traits or low karma can set fires on their own.
City Fire Prevention Rate a city-wide setting accessible via smartphone > City Map > Manage City. Lowering this rate increases the likelihood of fires starting from electronic devices. At minimum, fires become frequent and dangerous.
how fire spreads
Once a fire starts, it spreads quickly to nearby furniture and objects. Flammable materials (wooden furniture, curtains, rugs) catch fire first. Metal and stone objects resist fire longer. A fire left unchecked can consume an entire room within minutes of in-game time. Zois trapped in or near the fire risk death. The fire generates smoke that reduces visibility and causes discomfort emotions.

responding to fires
When a fire breaks out, three response options appear:

Report Fire summons the fire department. Response time varies based on the lot's distance from the nearest fire station. The fire department handles extinguishing, but significant damage may occur before they arrive.
Evacuate to Safety the safest option. The Zoi leaves the danger zone immediately. Other household members should also be directed to evacuate. This protects lives but does nothing to contain the fire.
Put Out Fire the Zoi attempts to extinguish the fire manually. This is risky and can be fatal if the fire spreads to the Zoi. Having a fire extinguisher or hydrant nearby improves success. Higher Housework skill may help, but the risk of death remains.
prevention equipment
Four fire safety items are available in Build Mode:

Fire alarms (50-150 Meow), provide early warning with flashing lights and audible sounds when a fire starts. They do not contact emergency services automatically. Place them on ceilings near kitchens and electronics for best coverage.
Fire extinguishers (100 Meow), wall-mounted or standing units that Zois can grab to fight small fires. The most cost-effective prevention tool.
Outdoor fire hydrants (400 Meow), placed outside the building. Fire department response may be faster when a hydrant is nearby.
Indoor fire hydrants (171 Meow), wall-mounted units for indoor fire response. Placed inside rooms with high fire risk like kitchens.
aftermath
After a fire is extinguished, the affected area is covered in ashes and debris. Cleanup requires:
Clean ashes Zois must sweep and clean the burnt area. This is a standard cleanliness action.
Repair damaged items some furniture and appliances can be repaired if the Zoi has sufficient Housework skill. Alternatively, hire a repair technician through the Pocket Market on the smartphone.
Replace destroyed items items that are completely destroyed must be repurchased through Build Mode. Destroyed items disappear entirely and cannot be repaired.
City Fire Prevention Rate
This city-wide setting is found in smartphone > City Map > Manage City. Adjusting the fire prevention rate up or down changes how likely fires are to start from electronic devices across the entire city. Raising the rate provides more safety but may have gameplay trade-offs. Lowering it increases danger and creates more chaotic scenarios, which some players prefer for storytelling.
