Drink Mixing
Complete guide to the Drink Mixing skill in inZOI. Covers skill progression from level 1 to level 10, the Drink Dispenser and Beverage Dispensing Machine, drink types and cost tiers, bar/lounge/club business setup and management, employee operations, the Drink Mixing Master ambition, known issues and fixes, comparison with Coffee Craft, and tips for maximizing profit.
Overview
Drink Mixing is a skill added in inZOI's v0.5.0 update (December 2025) that lets your Zoi create a range of beverages, from simple fruit juices to complex cocktails. The types of drinks a Zoi can mix depend on their age, skill level, and the equipment available to them. Drink Mixing integrates directly with the business system, making it the key skill for running a profitable bar, lounge, or club.
The skill was introduced alongside Baking and the Crime skill as part of the v0.5.0 content expansion. While Coffee Craft handles coffee-based beverages through espresso machines and grinders, Drink Mixing covers everything else: fruit juices, mocktails, and alcoholic cocktails. Together with Cooking, Baking, and Coffee Craft, Drink Mixing rounds out the full suite of food and beverage skills available in the game.
The v0.7.0 anniversary update (March 2026) introduced the Drink Mixing Master ambition, giving players a structured progression path and unique rewards for mastering the skill. The same update also added VIP lounges to several pre-built lots, expanding the venues where Drink Mixing plays a central role.
Skill Progression
Drink Mixing follows the standard skill progression from Level 0 to Level 10. Like other adult skills, the skill is available to Teenagers, Young Adults, Adults, Middle-Aged, and Elder Zois. Each level unlocks access to more complex beverage recipes, and higher-level drinks produce better quality results that sell for more Meow at your business.

The available drinks also depend on your Zoi's age. Some alcoholic cocktails are restricted to adult Zois (Young Adults and older), while non-alcoholic beverages such as fruit juices and mocktails are available to Teenagers as well.
Skill Level | Available Drinks | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Level 1 | Basic fruit juices and simple drinks | Available to all ages |
Level 3 | Mixed drinks and mocktails | Non-alcoholic blends and flavored combinations |
Level 5 | Complex cocktails and specialty beverages | Full cocktail menu; adults only for alcoholic drinks |
Level 7 | Advanced cocktails with higher quality | Improved drink quality and customer satisfaction |
Level 10 | Master-tier recipes | Highest sale value; required for Drink Mixing Master ambition |
Higher-level drinks are more valuable when sold at a bar business. Investing time in reaching Level 5 before opening a bar ensures your menu includes the most profitable options. The jump from Level 5 to Level 10 further increases the quality of drinks and the income they generate, making it worth continuing to train even after unlocking the full cocktail menu.
How to Level
The Drink Mixing skill increases through practice. Every drink your Zoi prepares contributes to skill progress, with more complex recipes providing larger gains. There are several effective ways to build the skill.
Leveling Method | Details |
|---|---|
Mix drinks at a Drink Dispenser | The primary leveling method. Each successful preparation gives XP. Higher-level recipes provide more experience. |
Work at your own bar business | Operating a bar, lounge, or club gives experience through customer orders and direct drink preparation. |
Experiment with variety | Mixing different drink types instead of repeating the same recipe helps the skill progress more efficiently. |
Employee observation | While not a direct XP source, watching employees mix drinks at your business can provide minor experience in some contexts. |
The fastest approach is to place a Drink Dispenser at home and mix drinks repeatedly. This avoids the overhead costs of running a business while you build your skill level. Once you reach Level 5 and have access to the full cocktail menu, transitioning to a bar business lets you earn Meow while continuing to gain experience.
Drink Dispenser
The Drink Dispenser is a functional object added in the v0.5.4 hotfix (January 15, 2026). It replaced the bar table as the dedicated station for preparing mixed drinks. Before this update, mixed drinks were prepared at bar tables, but the transition to a standalone dispenser improved clarity and consistency in drink-related interactions.
Place the Drink Dispenser in your home for personal practice or on a business lot for commercial use. The Drink Dispenser can be purchased from the Kitchen Appliances section in Build Mode. When interacting with it, your Zoi opens the drink recipe menu, selects a beverage, and begins preparation. The process is similar to how the espresso machine works for Coffee Craft: select a recipe, pay the Meow cost for ingredients, and wait for your Zoi to finish mixing.
Business Beverage Equipment
On business properties, the Beverage Dispensing Machine serves the same function as the home Drink Dispenser but is designed for commercial use. It can be placed on bar, lounge, and club lots, and employees can be assigned to operate it. The Beverage Dispensing Machine is expected on certain business types; lounges and clubs in particular rely on it as their primary service equipment. Drink Dispensers have been placed on selected pre-built lots as well, so some ready-made business locations already include one.
Drink Types
As your Drink Mixing skill increases, you unlock more complex beverage recipes. The available drinks also depend on your Zoi's age; some alcoholic cocktails are restricted to adults. Drinks fall into three broad categories.
Type | Description |
|---|---|
Fruit Juices | Simple, non-alcoholic drinks available from Level 1. These are the cheapest to produce and are available to Zois of all ages, including Teenagers. |
Mixed Drinks and Mocktails | Non-alcoholic blends and flavored combinations that become available at Level 3. These offer more variety than basic juices and sell for slightly more at businesses. |
Cocktails | Alcoholic and specialty beverages unlocked at Level 5 and above. These have the highest production cost but also the highest sale value. Some cocktails are restricted to adult Zois (Young Adults and older). |
The in-game recipe menu displays locked recipes as grayed out until your Drink Mixing skill reaches the required level. Each recipe lists its Meow cost and any age restrictions before you confirm the preparation.
Drink Cost Tiers
Drinks prepared through the Drink Dispenser have production costs that vary by complexity. These costs represent the Meow spent on ingredients each time your Zoi mixes a drink.
Tier | Production Cost | Typical Drinks |
|---|---|---|
Lower-level drinks | 9 Meow | Basic juices, simple mixed drinks |
Upper-level drinks | 13 Meow | Complex cocktails, specialty beverages |
These costs matter when running a business. The difference between production cost and what customers pay determines your profit margin. At businesses with entry fees (starting at 10 Meow), you need to price drinks carefully to avoid operating at a loss. Lower-level drinks at 9 Meow per batch are cheaper to produce but sell for less, while the 13 Meow cocktails carry higher costs but generate better revenue per customer.
For comparison, Coffee Craft drinks range from 5 Meow (basic espresso) to 15 Meow (high-level specialty coffees) in production cost, and Baking items have their own separate cost structure. Understanding these cost tiers across all beverage and food skills is essential for running a profitable multi-service business.
Bar Business Integration
Drink Mixing is the core skill for running a bar, lounge, or club business. When setting up a business property, you can select a bar preset that configures customer actions around ordering and consuming drinks. The business system was introduced in the same v0.5.0 update as Drink Mixing, so the two features are designed to work together.
Business Types
Three business presets use Drink Mixing as their primary skill.
Business Type | Description | Revenue Model |
|---|---|---|
Bar | Serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Operates best during evening and nighttime hours. | Entry fee (starting at 10 Meow) plus drink sales |
Lounge | Upscale drink service with a relaxed atmosphere. Expects cocktails and mixed beverages. | Entry fee plus drink sales; higher customer expectations |
Club | Nightlife venue with music and social interactions. Drinks are a key part of the experience. | Entry fee plus drink sales; highest foot traffic during late hours |
All three operate on a one-time entry fee model. Customers pay the entry fee when they arrive and then order drinks during their visit. The entry fee starts at 10 Meow and can be adjusted in the Business App. Because lower-level drinks cost 9 Meow to produce and the base entry fee is only 10 Meow, early-stage bar businesses with low Drink Mixing skill can operate at very thin margins or even a loss. Building the skill to Level 5 or higher before opening ensures access to higher-value drinks that generate better profit per customer.
Setting Up a Bar
To open a bar, lounge, or club, follow these steps.
Purchase a commercial lot: Buy a property through the Edit City window or by visiting a vacant commercial lot. Property prices range from 20,000 to over 100,000 Meow depending on location and lot size.
Register the business: Open the Business App on your Zoi's phone (press P) and register the purchased property. Choose a business name and select the Bar, Lounge, or Club preset.
Furnish the space: Enter Build Mode and place the required equipment. At minimum, you need a Beverage Dispensing Machine (or Drink Dispenser), a kiosk for payment, seating for customers, and market stands to display drinks.
Set operating hours: Configure your business hours in the Business App. Bars and clubs perform best during evening and night hours, while lounges can attract customers throughout the day.
Hire employees: Assign staff to operate the Beverage Dispensing Machine. Employees with higher Drink Mixing skill serve customers faster and produce better-quality drinks.
Open for business: Once everything is set up, open your doors and start serving. Monitor customer satisfaction and adjust pricing through the Business App.
Employee Management
Employees play a critical role in bar operations. Staff assigned to the Beverage Dispensing Machine handle drink preparation automatically when customers place orders. Employee performance depends on several factors.
Aspect | Description |
|---|---|
Skill level | Employees with higher Drink Mixing skill produce drinks faster and at better quality, which increases customer satisfaction and repeat visits. |
Staffing levels | Set your employee roster to match demand. Understaffing during peak hours leads to long wait times and unhappy customers. Overstaffing wastes salary costs during quiet periods. |
Business hours | Schedule staff shifts to cover your operating hours. Bars and clubs typically need coverage during evening and late-night slots. |
Wages | Employee wages are a fixed operating cost. Higher-skilled employees may demand higher pay, but their increased productivity and drink quality offset the cost at higher business levels. |
Revenue and Pricing
Revenue from a bar business comes from two sources: the one-time entry fee customers pay when they arrive, and the individual drink orders they place during their visit. Both can be adjusted in the Business App.
The key to profitability is ensuring that the combined revenue from entry fees and drink sales exceeds your operating costs, which include production costs for each drink (9 to 13 Meow), employee wages, and property upkeep. At higher business levels, your bar earns more per customer as reputation grows and foot traffic increases.
Bar businesses can be very profitable at higher levels, but expect early losses while building skill and customer base. Gyms consistently rank as the highest-earning business type because they rely on entrance fees and paid lectures with no ingredient costs, but well-managed bars with high Drink Mixing skill and a full cocktail menu can compete in revenue once the business is established.
VIP Lounges
The v0.7.0 anniversary update (March 2026) added VIP lounges to three pre-built properties across the game's cities.
Venue | City |
|---|---|
Sky Lounge | |
Elegance Hotel & Nightclub | |
Beach Club |
These VIP lounges provide pre-furnished venues where Drink Mixing plays a central role. They can serve as inspiration for your own bar or lounge setup, or you can purchase them as ready-made business locations if they become available.
Drink Mixing Master Ambition
The v0.7.0 update (March 2026) introduced the Drink Mixing Master ambition, one of three new ambitions tied to the food and drink crafting systems (alongside Coffee Master and Baking Master). This ambition provides a structured progression path for Zois who want to master the art of cocktail preparation.
Like all ambitions, Drink Mixing Master has three progression levels with escalating requirements.
Level | Requirements |
|---|---|
Level 1 | Purchase a Drink Dispenser; mix drinks a small number of times |
Level 2 | Reach approximately Drink Mixing Level 6; prepare drinks more frequently |
Level 3 | Reach Drink Mixing Level 10; complete a high number of specialized drink preparations |
Completing each level earns Meow currency rewards, and finishing all three levels unlocks unique interactions exclusive to the ambition. These rewards include improved recipe quality, customer satisfaction bonuses at bar businesses, and exclusive conversation options related to bartending expertise.
The Drink Mixing Master ambition gives players a concrete reason to invest in the skill beyond simply running a business. The Meow rewards and unique interactions earned upon completion provide lasting gameplay benefits that complement both personal skill development and commercial ventures.
Known Issues and Bug Fixes
The bar business system has had several reported issues since its introduction. The development team has been addressing these through hotfixes and patches.
Issue | Description | Status |
|---|---|---|
Employees discarding drinks | Employees assigned to the Beverage Dispensing Machine sometimes mix drinks and then throw them in the trash instead of serving customers. The employee completes the drink, holds it briefly, then walks to a trash receptacle and discards it. | Reported on official forums; partially addressed in subsequent hotfixes |
Market stand stocking | Mixed drinks could not be placed on market stands for resale, unlike food or juice items prepared through Cooking. | Fixed in February 2026 patch |
Autonomous drink stocking | The automatic stocking system for drinks was buggy, causing employees to fail to restock market stands on their own. | Fixed in February 2026 patch |
Customer ordering behavior | NPC customers at club businesses sometimes did not autonomously order drinks, reducing revenue. | Under investigation |
These issues are tracked and addressed through hotfixes. Check the Update History for the latest patch notes and fixes related to the Drink Mixing and bar business systems.
A common workaround for the employee drink-discarding bug is to directly control your Zoi and click on the employee after they finish mixing a drink to issue a manual command to place it down. This prevents the autonomous discard behavior, though it requires active micromanagement during busy periods.
Comparison with Coffee Craft
inZOI has two beverage-related skills: Drink Mixing and Coffee Craft. They serve different purposes, use different equipment, and are tied to different business types. Understanding the differences helps you decide which skill to prioritize or whether to develop both.
Feature | Drink Mixing | Coffee Craft |
|---|---|---|
Equipment | Drink Dispenser | Coffee Grinder + Espresso Machine |
Drink Types | Juices, cocktails, mixed drinks | Coffee drinks, lattes, specialty coffee |
Business Type | Bar, Lounge, Club | Cafe |
Added In | v0.5.0 (December 2025) | |
Age Restrictions | Some cocktails restricted to adults | No age restrictions |
Production Costs | 9 Meow (basic) to 13 Meow (complex) | 5 Meow (basic) to 15 Meow (specialty) |
Number of Recipes | Varies by level; full menu at Level 5+ | 36 recipes across levels 0-10 |
Revenue Model | Entry fee + drink orders | Direct item sales |
Master Ambition | Drink Mixing Master (v0.7.0) | Coffee Master (v0.7.0) |
Combining both skills on a single Zoi or within one business lets you offer a full beverage service, covering both daytime coffee customers and evening cocktail patrons. A Zoi who masters both Coffee Craft and Drink Mixing can staff a hybrid cafe/bar that operates profitably across all hours of the day. This approach requires purchasing both a Drink Dispenser and an Espresso Machine with Coffee Grinder, but the wider drink menu and extended operating hours can justify the additional equipment cost.
Combining with Other Skills
Drink Mixing pairs well with several other skills for a well-rounded business or lifestyle.
Skill | Synergy |
|---|---|
A bar that also serves food attracts more customers and increases the average revenue per visit. Cooked meals can be stocked on market stands alongside drinks. | |
Adding baked goods to your bar's menu provides additional revenue streams, especially for lounge-style businesses that attract daytime customers. | |
As described above, combining coffee and cocktail service creates a full-day beverage operation. | |
A Zoi with the Performance skill can entertain guests at their bar or club, boosting customer satisfaction and creating a more lively atmosphere. | |
Higher Charm helps with customer interactions and can improve the social dynamics at your bar, leading to better reviews and repeat customers. |
Tips
Place a Drink Dispenser at home to practice before investing in a bar business. Building the skill to Level 5 at home saves money on wasted ingredients at your business.
Higher Drink Mixing skill produces more valuable drinks that sell for more at your bar, so invest in training before expecting high profits.
The Entertainer trait pairs well with bartending for a social, high-energy Zoi who thrives in nightlife settings.
Bar businesses can be very profitable at higher business levels, but expect early losses while building skill and customer base.
Combine Drink Mixing with Coffee Craft for a full beverage service business that serves customers throughout the day and evening.
Set your bar's operating hours to evening and night for the best customer traffic. Lounges can operate during daytime hours as well.
If employees are throwing away drinks (a known bug), micromanage by clicking the employee after they finish mixing to force them to place the drink down.
Work toward the Drink Mixing Master ambition for Meow rewards and exclusive bartending interactions that benefit both your skill and your business.
When starting out, stick to lower-cost drinks (9 Meow production) to minimize losses while you learn the system. Switch to premium cocktails (13 Meow) once your bar has steady foot traffic.
Consider placing your bar in a high-traffic area. Dowon's central business district and Bliss Bay's beachside locations tend to attract more customers than quieter neighborhoods.
