Careers in inZOI provide Zois with a steady income of Meow (the in-game currency) and give daily life structure and purpose. Every career has a multi-tier promotion path, and advancing through the ranks significantly increases daily earnings. This guide explains how the promotion system works, compares salary levels across all employers, and provides strategies for climbing the career ladder efficiently.

Career Types
inZOI has two fundamentally different career types, and understanding the distinction is critical because the promotion mechanics differ between them.

Rabbit Hole Careers
Most careers in inZOI are rabbit hole jobs. The Zoi boards a taxi at the start of their shift and disappears until the shift ends. No player interaction is required during work hours. Promotion happens automatically through consistent attendance.
The promotion bar fills by roughly 10-15% per work day attended
Missing a shift provides 0% progress and counts as an absence
Three unexcused absences result in termination
Promotion from one tier to the next typically takes 8 to 10 work days
A text message notification confirms each promotion
Active Careers
Active careers send the Zoi to a specific workplace building where the player controls them directly. Each shift presents a set of tasks (usually six per day, split into morning and afternoon blocks) that must be completed for promotion progress.
Completing all daily tasks typically earns 30-40% toward the next promotion tier
Partially completing tasks earns proportionally less progress
Failing or skipping tasks earns minimal progress
Active careers offer faster promotion than rabbit hole careers because task completion provides larger progress chunks
The first hour of each shift is usually free time for eating and attending to needs
Current active careers include: Idol Trainee and Entertainment Planning at Adam Entertainment, Police Officer at the Police Station, Firefighter at the Fire Station, and Doctor at the Hospital.
The Promotion Bar
Every career displays a promotion progress bar on the career panel (accessible through the smartphone Career app). This bar fills as the Zoi works and resets to zero after each promotion.
Rabbit hole careers: The bar fills automatically each work day. There is nothing the player can do to speed it up beyond ensuring the Zoi does not miss shifts.
Active careers: The bar fills based on task completion. Completing all tasks each day is the fastest path to promotion.
Position limits: Each tier has a maximum number of slots (e.g., 6 entry-level, 3 mid-level, 1 top-level). If the next tier is full, the Zoi cannot be promoted until a vacancy opens.

The Lawyer career at any of the three law firms offers the best hourly rate in the game at 340 Meow per hour. The Football Player career is close behind at 333 Meow per hour, with both benefiting from short 6-hour shifts that leave the rest of the day free.

Entry-level salaries vary significantly between employers. Choosing the right starting career can make a big difference in early-game income.

Career Switching
Zois are not locked into their career choice permanently. They can quit a job and apply for a new one at any time. However, career switching has consequences.
Quitting: Open the Career app on the smartphone and select "Quit." The Zoi immediately loses the job and all promotion progress.
No transfer: Promotion progress does not carry over between employers. Starting a new career means beginning at the entry level with a fresh promotion bar.
Immediate rehire: Zois can apply for a new job on the same day they quit. There is no cooldown period.
Termination: Getting fired (three unexcused absences) has the same effect as quitting. The Zoi can apply for any career immediately after being fired.
Because promotion progress is lost when switching, it is generally better to commit to a single career path and see it through to the top tier rather than hopping between employers.
Career Opportunity Cards
Starting with Update v0.4.0, career opportunity cards were introduced. These are pop-up events that appear during work shifts, presenting the Zoi with a choice.

Work Schedule Overview
Most careers follow a three-day work week (Tuesday through Thursday), though some careers require five days (Monday through Friday). Understanding the schedule is important when managing multi-Zoi households.

Strategy 1: Rush the Lawyer Career
The Lawyer career offers the best combination of high salary and short hours. Apply at any law firm (Themis and Jones, Justitia, or Sawara), attend every shift without missing a day, and within roughly 20 work days you will reach Partner level earning 2,040 Meow per day for just 6 hours of work. The three-day work week leaves four days free for other income sources.
Strategy 2: Dual-Income Household
In a multi-Zoi household, assign one Zoi to a high-paying career (Lawyer, Football Player) and another to a career with a complementary schedule or an active career that develops useful skills. Two Partner-level Lawyers earn 4,080 Meow per day combined.
Strategy 3: Supplement with Side Income
On days off, Zois can earn extra Meow through:
Painting and selling artwork (scales with the Art skill)
Cooking meals and selling them
Gardening and selling produce at the marketplace
Collecting and selling items found while exploring
Strategy 4: Start with High Entry Salary
If early income matters, start at Themis and Jones (Bliss Bay) or Sawara (Cahaya) for a 450 Meow entry-level salary. Avoid careers that start below 200 Meow unless you specifically want the active career experience they offer.
Common Issues
Promotion bar stuck: Some players have reported the promotion bar freezing, especially in the Pro Gamer career. Save and reload the game to fix this.
Missing shifts: If a Zoi is asleep or has low needs when the taxi arrives, they may miss their shift. Set an alarm or manually wake them before work time.
Position full: If the next tier has no vacancy, the Zoi cannot be promoted even with a full bar. Wait for a vacancy to open or consider switching employers.
General Tips
Never miss a work day. Consistent attendance is the single most important factor for promotion in rabbit hole careers.
For active careers, complete every task. Partial completion slows promotion drastically.

Level relevant skills (Programming for Esports, Fitness for Football, Critical Thinking for Law) before starting a career to improve work performance
