Technology Careers

Overview

Technology is one of the career categories in inZOI, offering software development positions at two companies across Dowon and Bliss Bay. Like most careers in the game, Technology is a rabbit hole career: the Zoi leaves home and disappears during work hours rather than performing tasks on-screen. Technology careers provide competitive salaries and a strong connection to the Programming skill, making them appealing for Zois focused on technical pursuits.

Workplaces

Two software companies offer Technology positions, one in each city:

Both workplaces are mechanically identical. The position titles, salaries, and promotion structure are the same at both companies. Neither company has a visitable physical location on the map; as rabbit hole workplaces, Zois board a taxi to commute and the building is not explorable. The only difference is the city requirement: DW Soft is exclusive to Dowon, and Blue Moon Soft is exclusive to Bliss Bay.

Positions and Salaries

Each workplace has three positions in a promotion hierarchy. Salaries are listed in Meow, the in-game currency. Position limits determine how many Zois can hold each rank at a given company.

Both DW Soft and Blue Moon Soft share the identical table above. The entry-level salary of 414 Meow is higher than Corporate and Finance (378 Meow), though the top salary of 1,845 Meow is slightly lower than the Director/Portfolio Manager position (1,881 Meow).

Work Schedule

Both companies follow the same schedule:

Unlike some career paths where the two workplaces have different schedules (such as Corporate and Finance, where Aramir Group works Mon/Wed/Fri and Plutus Financial works Tue/Wed/Thu), both Technology companies share the same Tuesday through Thursday schedule with identical 9-hour shifts.

How to Apply

To apply for a Technology career position:

1. Open the Smartphone by pressing P or clicking the phone icon

2. Navigate to the Career app

3. Select the Recruitment tab to browse open positions

4. Choose a DW Soft (Dowon) or Blue Moon Soft (Bliss Bay) listing and submit the application

There are no hard skill requirements to apply for the Junior Developer position. The Zoi must be at least a Young Adult (approximately age 20.5 in-game) and cannot have progressed past Middle-Aged. Zois can also apply in person by visiting the workplace area, though rabbit hole workplaces may not have a visitable building.

Programming Skill Connection

The Technology career has a thematic connection to the Programming skill. While Programming level is not a hard requirement for hiring or promotion, some players report that higher Programming levels appear to provide a slight boost to career progress speed. The career bar primarily fills through work attendance regardless of skill level.

The Programming skill is available to Zois from the Teenager age stage onward. It can be leveled by developing software on a computer or laptop, playing games, or reading programming books. The skill unlocks new program types at certain levels:

At high levels, the Programming skill also unlocks hacking abilities (Hack Bank for approximately 1,000 Meow, Hack ATM for approximately 250 Meow with arrest risk) and the ability to develop and sell software through the computer interface. Programs sell for approximately 2,000 Meow each at high levels.

Freelance Programming

Outside the formal Technology career, Zois can earn income through freelance programming. Software developed using the Programming skill can be sold instantly via the computer interface. This income source has no cap and can supplement or even exceed career earnings at high skill levels. A formal Freelance Career system including Game Development is planned for Q2 2026 according to the development roadmap.

Combining a Technology career with freelance programming on off days creates a consistent tech-focused income strategy. The 3-day work week leaves 4 free days for software development and other activities.

Promotion Mechanics

Promotions follow the standard rabbit hole career system:

The Lead Developer position is particularly competitive with only one slot per company. If an NPC or another playable Zoi holds the slot, the player's Zoi must wait for that person to quit, retire, or get terminated before a promotion becomes available.

Career Opportunity Cards

The v0.4.0 update (October 30, 2025) introduced 144 career opportunity cards across all career paths. For Technology careers, these events may involve choices like staying late to fix a critical bug, handling a disagreement about code architecture, or choosing between competing project approaches. Each choice can affect the Zoi's mood, workplace relationships, or career progress speed.

Attendance and Termination

Missing a scheduled work day counts as an unexcused absence. After 3 unexcused absences, the Zoi is automatically terminated. The counter resets when the Zoi attends a work day. Zois can also voluntarily quit through the Career section of the Smartphone, but quitting resets career progress entirely.

Retirement

Zois face mandatory retirement upon reaching the Senior age stage. No pension system exists in the game, so households should prepare financially by building savings, training a second earner, or establishing a business before the primary earner reaches Senior age.

While not the highest-paying career path, Technology offers a reasonable income with a 3-day work week and strong synergy with the Programming skill for supplemental freelance income.
