Law enforcement in inZOI exists in two forms: the current Officer career that is already playable in the game, and an active police career system that KRAFTON has confirmed for the 2026 development roadmap. The current Officer career operates as a rabbit-hole job in the Soldier job line under the Military Manpower Administration. The planned police career is expected to introduce active on-the-job gameplay including patrol cars, real-time criminal searches, and on-site arrest procedures.
Current Officer Career
The Officer career is a Rabbit Hole job currently available in the game as part of the Soldier job line. It is exclusive to the city of Dowon and is available to Young Adult, Adult, and Middle-Aged Zois. The employer organization is the Military Manpower Administration, which is described in-game as fulfilling its duty to protect the security and well-being of Dowon.
As a rabbit-hole career, the Officer career means that when a Zoi goes to work, they board a taxi and disappear off-screen for the duration of their shift. The player does not accompany them or control their on-the-job activities. The Zoi returns home at the end of their shift with pay and career progression points.

Soldier Job Line Progression
The Soldier job line contains three ranks. A Zoi enters as a Trainee, promotes to Officer, and can eventually reach the rank of General. All three positions are rabbit-hole jobs exclusive to Dowon, share the same work schedule of three days per week from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and fall under the Military Manpower Administration.

Rank | Salary (Meow) | Employee Limit | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Trainee | 279 | 6 | Entry-level position; starting rank for all new Soldier line hires |
Officer | 675 | 3 | Mid-level rank; the law enforcement role covered by this article |
General | 1,827 | 1 | Highest rank in the line; only one Zoi can hold this position at a time |
The salary increase from Trainee to General is substantial. A General earns over six times the pay of a Trainee, making the Soldier job line one of the higher-paying rabbit-hole career paths for Zois willing to put in the time.
Promotion Mechanics
Promotion in the Officer career, like all rabbit-hole careers, depends primarily on ensuring the Zoi arrives to work on time and completes their full shift duration. The career progression bar fills gradually with each completed shift. For rabbit-hole jobs, promotions typically require 8 to 10 working days of consistent attendance, which translates to roughly three in-game weeks given the three-day work schedule.
Promotions are not guaranteed the moment the career bar fills. Each rank has a limited number of employee slots (for example, only 3 Officer positions and just 1 General position exist). If no vacancy is available when a Zoi's bar is full, they must continue working until an opening appears. When a promotion goes through, the Zoi receives a text message on their smartphone confirming the advancement.
There are several important things to keep in mind when pursuing promotions in the Soldier job line:
Mechanic | Description |
|---|---|
Do not shorten shifts. | Leaving work early or shortening the scheduled hours negatively affects promotion progress. |
Lengthening shifts does not help. | Working overtime beyond the default 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM schedule does not accelerate the promotion bar. |
Regular attendance is critical. | Missing a shift resets momentum. Ensure the Zoi is well-rested and has enough energy and hunger satisfaction to make it through the full day. |
Vacancy bottleneck at General. | Since only one General position exists, a Zoi may wait longer for that final promotion compared to the Trainee-to-Officer jump. |
Law Enforcement NPCs
The Crime system introduced in v0.5.0 (December 2025) features NPC police officers who respond to reported crimes. These officers are automated characters who patrol city areas independently. The player cannot control or play as an NPC police officer through the crime response system; that active police gameplay is the subject of the planned career described in the roadmap section below.
How Police Respond to Crime
When a Zoi witnesses a crime being committed, they may report it to the authorities. Once a report is filed, NPC police officers respond based on the perpetrator's Crime Score:
Crime Score Level | Police Response |
|---|---|
Low | Officers may issue a warning or impose an immediate fine for minor offenses |
High | Officers arrest the Zoi on sight and take them to jail |
Very High (threshold exceeded) | The Zoi is automatically arrested regardless of whether a police officer is physically nearby |
Crime Score is a numeric tracker that increases every time a Zoi commits a criminal act. It is separate from Karma; criminal actions lower Karma and raise Crime Score simultaneously, but the two systems produce different consequences. Karma affects social interactions and afterlife outcomes, while Crime Score specifically determines the severity of police response. Serving jail time reduces Crime Score.
Wanted Status
A Zoi who successfully escapes the scene of a crime may be placed under a Wanted notice. The wanted period lasts up to one day. During this time, the Zoi risks arrest if they cross paths with any NPC police officer. Notably, the wanted status persists across cities. Traveling from Dowon to Bliss Bay or Cahaya does not clear the wanted flag, and the Zoi can be arrested immediately upon arriving in the new city.
Triggers for Arrest
Several criminal activities can draw police attention:
Trigger | Description |
|---|---|
Public fighting | Harassing and fighting Zois in public eventually attracts police attention. Attacking a responding officer escalates the situation to an immediate arrest. |
Theft | If another Zoi witnesses a theft, they may spread the information, leading to a police report. As of the March 2026 update, stealing vehicles belonging to other Zois also counts as a crime that can result in arrest. |
Crop theft | Since March 2026, stealing crops belonging to other Zois is classified as theft and can trigger police response. |
Extortion | Using the Extort action on a police officer directly leads to arrest. This action is only available to Zois with Bad Karma. |
Hacking | A hacking incident that is discovered can trigger police arrival and arrest. |
Known Issues with Police Behavior
Players have reported several quirks with the current police NPC system. The arrest interaction can be interrupted if the Zoi is already engaged in another interaction (such as eating or arguing). In some cases, officers who fail to initiate the arrest may then behave as regular NPCs, sitting on furniture or watching TV in the Zoi's home before eventually leaving. These interaction priority issues are a recognized limitation of the current system. The March 2026 update addressed one specific bug where arrest did not proceed even when police arrived after a hacking incident.
Current Jail Mechanics
When a Zoi is arrested, they are taken to jail and serve a sentence of up to 24 hours (approximately one in-game day). The Prison and Jail facility is a playable in-game location rather than a rabbit hole, so the player can experience life behind bars directly.
During their sentence, the Zoi has access only to a bed, sink, mirror, toilet, and vending machine. They can sleep, eat (from the vending machine), and use the bathroom, but cannot pursue skills, relationships, or other productive activities. The Zoi is automatically released at 9:00 AM the morning after a standard hold. Jail breakout is possible when imprisoned, though the exact mechanics are not fully documented.
Zois who are scheduled to go on trial cannot travel to other cities until their trial is resolved. For a complete breakdown of the arrest, bail, and Trial and Justice System, see the Crime article.
Planned Active Police Career (2026 Roadmap)
KRAFTON confirmed an active police career system as part of the 2026 Roadmap announced in late December 2025. The planned system represents a significant expansion beyond the current rabbit-hole Officer career, introducing real-time on-the-job gameplay where the player accompanies their Zoi on duty.
The roadmap describes the police career as "a police career system including patrol cars and real-time criminal searches." This was listed in the Q1 2026 section of the roadmap. However, as of the March 2026 update (v0.7.0), the active police career has not yet been released. The feature remains on the development schedule but has not shipped in any update so far.
Confirmed planned features for the active police career include:
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Patrol cars | Officers will use dedicated police vehicles while on duty, allowing them to respond to calls across the city. |
Real-time criminal searches | Players will be able to actively pursue and apprehend criminal Zois during their shift, turning law enforcement into interactive gameplay. |
On-site arrest procedures | A detailed arrest process will be introduced, including on-site apprehension and processing at a police station. |
Police station facilities | A dedicated police station building is expected to serve as the home base for the career, replacing the current off-screen rabbit-hole workplace. |
The police career is listed alongside enhanced job system features planned for Q1 2026, including multiple jobs, job interviews, remote work, and performance evaluations. Some of these job system improvements have already arrived (job interviews were added in the March 2026 update), while the police career itself remains pending. KRAFTON has noted that roadmap items are subject to change in scope and timing based on development progress.
Planned Crime and Security Improvements
The 2026 Roadmap includes several crime-related enhancements that will complement the police career when they arrive. These improvements are spread across the Fundamentals First list and the quarterly content schedule.
Arrest and Incarceration Process
A detailed arrest and incarceration process, including on-site arrest and police station procedures
Bail amounts calculated based on crime type and expected sentence length
Richer court-related interactions such as prison visitation during trial waiting periods
Home and Vehicle Security
New security systems are planned to give property owners tools to protect against criminal Zois:
Home and vehicle alarm systems
Safes for storing valuables
Surveillance cameras
Alarm devices
Handcuffs and other security items for law enforcement
The crime system already features thief interactions that reference some of these items, such as "Pick Door Lock," "Break Down Door," "Open Safe," and "Sabotage Surveillance Camera." The security expansion will provide the defensive counterpart to these criminal abilities.
Planned Prison Expansion (Q2 2026)
Alongside the police career, KRAFTON plans to significantly expand the game's prison system in Q2 2026. The current Trial and Justice System already includes jail stays of up to one day, with a basic cell containing a bed, sink, mirror, toilet, and vending machine. The planned expansion adds:
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Prison facilities | A fully realized prison property with dedicated areas including a yard, library, workshop (for laundry and sewing), lounge, cafeteria, shower area, and visitation room. |
Prison visitation | Richer court-related interactions such as family members visiting during trial waiting periods. |
Home and vehicle security | Alarms and safes for residential properties, giving homeowners tools to deter and detect criminal Zois. |
These additions are expected in Q2 2026, following the police career launch. The timing assumes the earlier features ship on schedule, though all roadmap dates are flexible.
Connection to the Crime System
The planned active police career will interact directly with the Crime skill system. Criminal Zois use skills like Fitness, Handiwork, Programming, Critical Thinking, and Rhetoric to perform and cover up crimes. Police officers may require complementary skills (such as Fitness for pursuit and Critical Thinking for investigation) to effectively apprehend criminals.
The roadmap also mentions that the enhanced job system will factor in criminal history and reputation when evaluating job candidates. This means a Zoi with a criminal record may face difficulty obtaining legitimate employment, including potentially the police career itself. Suitability will be judged through interviews, and special promotions may be possible based on stats.
March 2026 Crime Additions
The March 2026 Update (v0.7.0, released March 26, 2026) did not introduce the active police career, but it added several crime-related features relevant to law enforcement gameplay:
Addition | Description |
|---|---|
Vehicle theft | Zois can now steal any car in the city, but this counts as theft and puts the Zoi at risk of arrest. A map feature shows red dots indicating vehicle locations. |
Crop theft | Stealing crops belonging to other Zois now counts as theft, expanding the range of criminal activities police can respond to. |
Reduced misdemeanor arrests | The arrest frequency for misdemeanors was reduced, and extortion success rates were adjusted. |
Trial travel restriction | Zois scheduled to go on trial can no longer travel to other cities, preventing suspects from fleeing jurisdiction. |
Hacking arrest fix | Fixed a bug where arrest did not proceed even when police arrived after a hacking incident. |
Tips for Aspiring Officers
Move to Dowon. The entire Soldier job line is exclusive to Dowon. If your Zoi lives in Bliss Bay or Cahaya, they must relocate before applying.
Keep the Zoi well-rested. With shifts running from 9 AM to 6 PM, make sure the Zoi has full energy and hunger before heading out. A Zoi who leaves work early loses promotion progress.
Do not adjust work hours. Shortening shifts hurts promotion, and lengthening them provides no benefit. Stick to the default 9-to-6 schedule.
Be patient at higher ranks. Only 3 Officer slots and 1 General slot exist. If the promotion bar is full but no text arrives, wait for a vacancy to open.
Expect 3 weeks per promotion. Rabbit-hole promotions take 8 to 10 working days, and with only 3 work days per week, plan for roughly 3 in-game weeks between ranks.
Consider the pay trajectory. The jump from 279 Meow (Trainee) to 1,827 Meow (General) is significant. Patience through the early ranks pays off if the Zoi sticks with the career long-term.
Watch for the active police career. Once the roadmap feature ships, Zois may have the option to switch from the passive rabbit-hole Officer role to an active, hands-on police career with patrol cars and real-time gameplay.
