Overview
Journalism careers in inZOI let your Zoi pursue a career in news reporting and media editing. Two newspaper organizations operate across Dowon and Bliss Bay, each offering a three-tier career ladder from entry-level Reporter through Editor to Editor-in-Chief. These are rabbit hole careers, meaning your Zoi disappears into a taxi during work hours and you receive periodic updates on their progress. Unlike active careers, rabbit hole jobs do not have a physical workplace you can visit or control your Zoi inside.
Mirror of the Times (Dowon)
The Mirror of the Times is Dowon's main newspaper. It covers local and national news, culture, and politics. This career is exclusive to Zois living in or commuting to Dowon.

How to Get Hired
Open your Smartphone and select the Careers app.
Scroll through the available positions and choose either 'Reporter (Mirror of the Times)' or 'Reporter (Bliss Bay Times).'
You start as a Reporter and work your way up through the career bar system.
Your Zoi will automatically board a taxi when heading to work on scheduled days.
Promotion System
Career Bar
Every career in inZOI uses a career experience bar that fills as your Zoi works. When the bar reaches 100%, your Zoi becomes eligible for promotion. You receive a text message confirming the promotion, and the actual rank change takes effect the following morning before the next work shift.
For rabbit hole jobs like journalism, the career bar fills primarily through attending work shifts. Rabbit hole careers promote slower than active careers because you cannot directly complete tasks. Expect roughly 8 to 10 working days per promotion (compared to 3 to 4 working days for active careers).
Workplace Events
During rabbit hole shifts, random workplace events and dilemmas appear on screen. These are short decision prompts where you choose how your Zoi reacts to a situation at work. Successfully navigating these events fills the career bar faster than simply attending. Poor choices still contribute some progress but at a reduced rate.
Workplace events are the primary way to speed up promotion in rabbit hole careers. Pay attention when they pop up and choose thoughtfully.
Vacancy Requirement
If your Zoi's career bar is full but no promotion has occurred, there may be no vacancy in the next position. The Editor-in-Chief position at each newspaper has a limit of 1 employee. If that slot is filled by another Zoi in the simulation, you must wait for an opening. The Reporter position allows up to 6 employees, making entry straightforward.
Attendance Rules
Journalism careers follow the standard inZOI attendance rules for all careers:
Three strikes: If your Zoi has three unexcused absences from work, they will be fired.
Late arrivals: Arriving after the 9:00 AM start time slows down the career bar fill rate for that shift.
Leaving early: Ending a shift before 6:00 PM reduces progress and counts similarly to a partial absence.
Schedule changes: Shortening your work schedule through the Careers app hinders promotion speed without meaningful benefits. Keep the default schedule.
Needs Management
Since rabbit hole shifts last nine hours (9 AM to 6 PM), your Zoi's needs will decay significantly during the workday. Prepare before each shift:
Make sure your Zoi eats a full meal before leaving for work. Hunger drops substantially during a nine-hour shift.
Use the bathroom before heading out. There is no way to address hygiene needs during a rabbit hole shift.
Get a full night of sleep. A tired Zoi performs worse during workplace events.
Address any emotional needs. A Zoi in a bad mood may make poor decisions during workplace dilemmas.
Career Comparison
Journalism compared to other rabbit hole careers in inZOI:
Career | Top Salary | Days/Week | Promotion Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
Journalism (Editor-in-Chief) | 1,665 Meow | 3 | ~8-10 working days per rank |
2,100 Meow | 3 | ~8-10 working days per rank | |
1,200 Meow | 3 | ~8-10 working days per rank | |
2,000 Meow | 3 | ~8-10 working days per rank |
Journalism offers a solid mid-tier salary. For maximum rabbit hole income, law careers and the pro gamer path pay more at the top rank. However, journalism only requires three days of work per week, leaving four days free for other activities.
Age Requirements
Journalism positions are available to Young Adult, Adult, and Middle-Aged Zois. Elder Zois cannot start new journalism careers but can continue working if they were already employed before reaching elder age.
Tips
Both newspapers offer identical salaries and schedules. Choose the one in your Zoi's home city to minimize taxi commute time.
Show up on time every scheduled work day. Late arrivals and absences are the biggest obstacles to promotion.
Stay for the entire shift. Leaving early counts against your career bar progress.
Watch for workplace events and dilemmas during rabbit hole shifts. Good choices fill the career bar noticeably faster than just attending.
Keep your Zoi's needs high before heading to work. A hungry or tired Zoi performs worse during workplace events.
Expect roughly one to two in-game weeks per promotion. Rabbit hole careers are slower than active careers by design.
If you want faster career progression, consider an active career instead, where you can directly complete tasks to fill the bar in 3 to 4 working days.
The three-day work week leaves plenty of free time for side activities like fishing, gardening, or running a business.
