Overview
Pokemon Pokopia supports ongoing limited-time events that introduce exclusive Pokemon, special materials, and unique furniture items. Events rotate on a schedule and require certain game progress to participate. The game uses the Nintendo Switch 2's system clock for event timing, meaning events are date-coded to the console's internal clock rather than an online server.
Pokopia also features a Mystery Gift system for redeeming promotional items via the Pokemon Center PC. This is the first Pokemon spin-off title to include Mystery Gift functionality.
More Spores for Hoppip
The first limited-time event in Pokemon Pokopia, announced by The Pokemon Company on March 7, 2026. During this event, players collect Cotton Spores from Dream Islands and exchange them at Pokemon Centers for picnic-themed furniture. The furniture is used to build event-exclusive habitats that attract Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff.

How to Participate
Rebuild the Pokemon Center in at least one area. The event only activates in areas with fully rebuilt Pokemon Centers. Players have from the game's launch (March 5) until the event start (March 9) to complete this requirement.
During the event period, Hoppip appears outside the rebuilt Pokemon Center. Talk to it to start the event.
Travel to Dream Islands by giving any Doll to Drifloon. Cotton Spores spawn on all Dream Islands during the event as white cotton-like pickups on the ground near rocks, driftwood, and other objects.
Collect Cotton Spores by walking over them. No tools or specialty Pokemon are required. You can visit one Dream Island per day per Doll type.
Return to any rebuilt Pokemon Center and exchange Cotton Spores at the event shop for picnic-themed furniture.
Give Hoppip 15 Cotton Spores to receive a Picnic Blanket and befriend Hoppip (it joins your town).
Use the event furniture to build the Yellow Carpet and Field-Trip Friends habitats to attract Skiploom and Jumpluff.
Event Shop: Picnic Furniture
Cotton Spores can be exchanged at the Pokemon Center for the following items. All items have unlimited stock during the event:
Item | Cost (Cotton Spores) |
|---|---|
Dandy Flower Seeds (x5) | 5 |
Hoppip Water Bottle | 5 |
Lunch Box | 5 |
Juice Trio | 5 |
Flower Backpack | 5 |
Flower Garlands (x10) | 5 |
Flowery Table Setting | 10 |
Flower Table | 10 |
Flower Cushion | 10 |
Picnic Blanket | 15 |
To purchase every item once, players need a total of 80 Cotton Spores. With one Dream Island visit per day and each visit yielding roughly 15-25 spores, most players can complete the shop within 4-6 days.
Event Habitats
Two new habitats become available using the event furniture:
Habitat | Components | Pokemon Attracted |
|---|---|---|
Yellow Carpet | 4 Dandy Flowers arranged in a 2x2 grid (grow from Dandy Flower Seeds) | Hoppip, Skiploom, Jumpluff |
Field-Trip Friends | 1 Flower Backpack + 1 Lunch Box + 1 Hoppip Water Bottle (2x2 grid) | Skiploom (exclusively) |
Dandy Flower Seeds must be planted and grown before they can be arranged into the Yellow Carpet habitat. Use the Rototiller move to prepare soil, plant the seeds, and water them with Water Gun. Growing the flowers takes approximately one in-game day.
Event-Exclusive Pokemon
Pokemon | Type | Specialty | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Hoppip | Grass/Flying | Grow | Appears outside the Pokemon Center during the event. Befriended by giving 15 Cotton Spores. |
Skiploom | Grass/Flying | Grow | Attracted to both Yellow Carpet and Field-Trip Friends habitats. |
Jumpluff | Grass/Flying | Grow, Litter | Attracted to the Yellow Carpet habitat. The Litter specialty causes it to drop collectible materials. |
These three Pokemon cannot be encountered outside the event period. Hoppip and Skiploom have the Grow specialty, which speeds up nearby plant growth, making them useful for farming and gardening. Jumpluff has both Grow and Litter, with the Litter specialty causing it to periodically drop materials that can be collected. None of these Pokemon can be obtained through Pokemon HOME transfers. Players who miss the event window can still access it by adjusting the system clock (see below).
Cloud Islands Restriction
The More Spores for Hoppip event is not available on Cloud Islands (the multiplayer islands). Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff cannot appear on Cloud Islands, and event furniture items cannot be used there. All event participation must take place in the single-player areas.
System Clock Exploit
Community testing discovered that the event triggers based on the Switch 2's system clock rather than online server verification. Players can access the event early or after its official end date by adjusting the console's Date and Time settings (Settings > System > Date and Time > uncheck "Synchronize Clock"). Setting the date to any day within March 9-24, 2026 activates the event content.
This means the Hoppip event is not truly permanently missable. Players who purchase the game months or years after the event window can still set their clock back to access the content. This is similar to how Animal Crossing: New Horizons handled seasonal events. The development team has not indicated whether this will be patched.
Future Events
The Pokemon Company has confirmed that additional limited-time events will follow, offering "additional requests to complete and access to special guest Pokemon" that are only available during those events. No specific dates or themes for future events have been announced beyond the Hoppip event. The game's event infrastructure suggests seasonal events and holiday-themed content are likely, similar to Animal Crossing's model.
Mystery Gift
Pokemon Pokopia is the first Pokemon spin-off to include Mystery Gift functionality. Gifts include furniture, food, materials, and other items. Mystery Gift requires approximately 30 minutes of gameplay to unlock (completing the initial tutorial). A Nintendo Account must be linked to the console, but a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is not required.
How to Redeem
Head to any rebuilt Pokemon Center and interact with the PC terminal (the computer outside the facility).
Select "Get Items" from the PC menu.
Select "Mystery Gifts" from the submenu.
Choose "Get via Internet" for internet distributions (no code needed) or "Get with Code/Password" for code-based gifts.
For code gifts, enter the 16-character alphanumeric code exactly as provided.
Confirm to receive the gift items in your inventory.
A "Check Mystery Gifts" option in the same menu lets you review previously claimed rewards. Each gift can only be redeemed once per save file (with the exception of Flat-Leaf Plant codes, which allow multiple redemptions).

Community Reception
The announcement of the first limited-time event just four days after launch drew some criticism from players and press, with concerns about FOMO (fear of missing out) pressure on a $70 game. Critics pointed out that players who could not afford the game at launch might be permanently locked out of event-exclusive Pokemon.
However, the community quickly discovered the system clock exploit, which effectively makes all events accessible at any time regardless of the official event window. This discovery significantly reduced FOMO concerns, as players can always set their Switch 2 clock back to the event dates to participate. The general consensus shifted to viewing the system as more consumer-friendly than server-locked events used by other live-service games.
Event Participation Tips
Prioritize rebuilding Pokemon Centers before events start. The Hoppip event only works in areas with completed Pokemon Centers, so rebuild as many as possible for maximum Cotton Spore farming.
Visit Dream Islands every day during the event. Cotton Spores appear on all island types, so use a different Doll each day to maximize visits.
Cotton Spores are collected by simply walking over them. No tools or specialty Pokemon are required. Look near rocks, driftwood, and other objects on Dream Islands.
Buy Dandy Flower Seeds first (5 Cotton Spores). You need to grow 4 Dandy Flowers for the Yellow Carpet habitat, and flowers take time to grow. Plant them early.
Give Hoppip 15 Cotton Spores as soon as possible. This befriends Hoppip and gives you a Pokemon with the Grow specialty, which helps your Dandy Flowers grow faster.
Build the Yellow Carpet habitat to attract all three event Pokemon (Hoppip, Skiploom, Jumpluff). The Field-Trip Friends habitat only attracts Skiploom.
Jumpluff has both the Grow and Litter specialties, making it the most valuable event Pokemon. Prioritize getting Jumpluff by building the Yellow Carpet habitat.
If you miss the official event window, set your Switch 2 clock to any date between March 9-24, 2026 to access the event. No internet connection is required.
Redeem all Mystery Gifts as soon as you can access the Pokemon Center PC. The Ditto Rug is free via internet download, no code needed.
Check official Pokemon social media channels and Serebii.net for future code distributions and event announcements.
