Cotton Spores are the event currency for the More Spores for Hoppip limited-time event in Pokemon Pokopia. They are collected from Dream Islands and exchanged for picnic-themed furniture used to build habitats for Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff.
Cotton Spores are a collectible event currency introduced during the More Spores for Hoppip limited-time event in Pokemon Pokopia. They appear exclusively on Dream Islands while the event is active and serve as the sole currency for purchasing picnic-themed furniture from the event shop at any Pokemon Center. The furniture items are used to build event-exclusive habitats that attract Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff.
Only during the event period (or via system clock adjustment)
How to Collect
Cotton Spores spawn as floating Cotton Spore Clusters on Dream Islands during the event period. They look like small white flowers suspended in the air. To collect them, walk up to a cluster and press Y to pick it up, the same way you gather other materials in the game. They can also be vacuumed up using the suction tool if you prefer gathering materials that way.
Cotton Spores appear on every type of Dream Island, so the specific doll you give to Drifloon does not matter for collection purposes. Each Dream Island visit yields roughly 40 to 75 Cotton Spores depending on how thoroughly you explore. Check caves, building interiors, and elevated platforms, as some clusters spawn in less obvious locations.
Dream Islands can only be visited once per day per doll type. If you have multiple dolls unlocked, you can visit multiple Dream Islands in one day by using a different doll each time, significantly increasing your daily Cotton Spore income.
Event Shop Items
Exchange Cotton Spores at the event shop inside any rebuilt Pokemon Center. All items have unlimited stock, so you can buy as many copies as you need before the event ends.
Buy Dandy Flower Seeds first since the flowers take real time to grow. While waiting for your Dandy Flowers, collect more Cotton Spores to purchase the remaining habitat items.
At only 5 Cotton Spores, they are the cheapest shop item. Buy them on day one so flowers are growing while you continue farming.
Explore thoroughly
Cotton Spore Clusters hide in caves, on rooftops, inside ruined buildings, and on elevated ledges. A quick scan of the island may only find half the available clusters.
Use multiple dolls
Each doll type grants access to a different Dream Island once per day. If you have three dolls unlocked, you can visit three islands in one day for up to 225 Cotton Spores.
System clock workaround
The event runs on the Nintendo Switch 2's internal system clock, not a live server. Setting the console date to any day between March 9 and March 24, 2026, activates the event regardless of the actual date. This means Cotton Spores are not permanently missable. See Limited-Time Events for more details.
Cloud Islands exclusion
Cotton Spores do not spawn on Cloud Islands (multiplayer). They are only available on single-player Dream Islands.
