Overview
Trainer Rank is the main story progression system in Pokemon Pokopia. It determines which areas the player can access and tracks advancement through the game's narrative. Trainer Rank is raised exclusively by completing Important Requests in each of the game's main areas. There are four ranks: the starting rank (no title), Great, Ultra, and Master.
Each rank up opens a set of green Area Gates on the map, granting access to new biomes with new Pokemon, materials, and story content. The rank system ensures players engage with each area's core mechanics before advancing.
All Trainer Ranks
Rank | How to Achieve | Areas Unlocked | Legendaries Encountered |
|---|---|---|---|
(Starting) | Begin the game | None | |
Great | Complete Yawn Up a Storm (befriend Kyogre) | ||
Ultra | Complete Brighten Things Up + Time to Party! | ||
Master | Complete Rebuild the Huge Building (encounter Mewtwo) | Post-game content |

Rank-Up Effects
Great Rank
Reaching Great Rank opens the area gates to both Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges simultaneously. The player can tackle these two areas in any order. Great Rank also unlocks:
Access to new Pokemon species found only in Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges
New materials: Sea Glass Fragments (Bleak Beach), Copper Ore and Iron Ore (Rocky Ridges)
New Ditto Transformations: Surf, Camouflage, Suck Up Liquids (Bleak Beach), Strength, Rollout (Rocky Ridges)
Cooking system (unlocked via Chef Dente in Rocky Ridges)
New Special Pokemon NPCs: Peakychu, Mosslax, Smearguru (Bleak Beach), DJ Rotom, Chef Dente (Rocky Ridges)
Ultra Rank
Ultra Rank requires completing both Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges main quests. This unlocks Sparkling Skylands, the game's final story area. Ultra Rank also unlocks:
Access to Sparkling Skylands with floating island terrain
New materials: Pokemetal, Gold Ore, Crystal Fragments, Glowing Stone
New Ditto Transformations: Glide (Dragonite), Waterfall (Gyarados)
Tinkmaster NPC with Engineer specialty and Tinkgear production
Lift Platforms for vertical travel between floating islands
Master Rank
Master Rank is achieved by completing the skyscraper reconstruction and encountering Mewtwo. While it does not unlock new explorable areas, it marks the completion of the main story and enables:
Post-game access, including the Magnet Rise transformation (the most powerful building tool)
Additional Dream Island types and Legendary encounters
Ability to complete the Team Initiation Challenge and roll credits
Area below the lighthouse unlocks with unique resources
Important Requests by Area
Area | Important Request | Key Objective |
|---|---|---|
Raise mood to 100; cook curry; meet Volcanion | ||
Rebuild skyscraper with Tinkmaster; encounter Mewtwo |
Palette Town
Palette Town does not have a Trainer Rank requirement and does not contribute to rank progression. It functions as a free sandbox area with a Pokemon Center to rebuild but no main story challenges. Players can rename it and use it for creative building, multiplayer co-op, and constructing the Legendary Birds building kits.
Link Play Requirement
The multiplayer Link Play feature becomes available on the Pokemon Center PC once the player reaches Environment Level 2 in any area. This is separate from Trainer Rank but typically coincides with early progression in Withered Wasteland.
Tips
Focus on the Important Request in each area. Regular side requests do not affect Trainer Rank.
Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges can be completed in either order. Rocky Ridges unlocks Cooking, which makes Bleak Beach easier with food buffs.
Raise Environment Level alongside Trainer Rank progression. Higher Environment Levels unlock new recipes and items at the Pokemon Center PC.
After reaching Master Rank, prioritize finding Magnemite and building the Factory Storage habitat to unlock Magnet Rise.
