Overview
Food Flavors are a core system in Pokemon Pokopia that determines how much a Pokemon enjoys a given food item. There are five flavors in the game: Sweet, Spicy, Dry, Bitter, and Sour. Every Pokemon has a favorite flavor listed in their Pokedex entry. Feeding a Pokemon its preferred flavor provides a larger comfort level boost compared to feeding it a neutral or disliked flavor.
The Five Flavors
Flavor | Description |
|---|---|
Sweet | Sugary and pleasant. Favored by many cute or small Pokemon. |
Spicy | Hot and bold. Common among Fire-type and energetic Pokemon. |
Dry | Mild and earthy. Preferred by some Rock-type and Ground-type Pokemon. |
Bitter | Sharp and herbal. Favored by Grass-type and aquatic Pokemon. |
Sour | Tangy and acidic. Popular with Poison-type and certain Water-type Pokemon. |
Why Flavors Matter
The primary purpose of flavors is increasing comfort levels. When you give a Pokemon food that matches its favorite flavor, the comfort boost is significantly higher. Pokemon will also sometimes directly ask for a specific flavor of food. Fulfilling these requests improves your relationship with them and contributes to raising the area's Environment Level.
Checking Flavor Preferences
Open the Pokedex and navigate to any Pokemon's entry. Their favorite flavor is listed alongside their habitat preference, furniture likes, and other details. You can also talk to a Pokemon and ask about their comfort; they may hint at what flavor of food they would enjoy.

Tips
Food can be given to Pokemon in two ways: place it on a dish in their habitat, or hand it to them directly through dialogue.
Even unflavored (Simple) food provides a small comfort boost, but flavored food matching the Pokemon's preference is always more effective.
Berries and raw crops also have flavors and can be given as snacks without cooking. Check the item description to see its flavor.
Keep a stock of all five flavors so you can fulfill any Pokemon's food request on the spot.
