Red Crystal Fragments
Red Crystal Fragments are the event currency for the Sableye limited-time event in Pokemon Pokopia. Obtained by breaking Red Crystal Clusters in Dream Island caves with Rock Smash, they are exchanged for camping-themed furniture and the Treasure-Hunting Set habitat.
Overview
Red Crystal Fragments are a collectible event currency introduced during the Sableye Event, the second limited-time event in Pokemon Pokopia. Red Crystal Clusters appear inside caves on Dream Islands while the event is active. Players break these clusters using the Rock Smash move to obtain Red Crystal Fragments, which serve as the currency for purchasing camping-themed furniture from the event shop at any Pokemon Center. The furniture items can be used to build the Treasure-Hunting Set habitat for Sableye.
Event Details
Detail | Information |
|---|---|
Event Name | Sableye Event |
Event Period | April 29 at 5:00 AM to May 13 at 4:59 AM, 2026 |
Clock Type | Nintendo Switch 2 system clock (offline) |
Availability | Only during the event period (or via system clock adjustment) |
How to Collect
Red Crystal Clusters appear inside the caves of Dream Islands during the event period. They glow with a distinctive red hue, making them easy to spot in darker cave interiors. Use the Rock Smash move to break a cluster, which typically drops 4 Red Crystal Fragments per cluster.
Not all Dream Islands are equally good for farming Red Crystal Fragments. Islands with more cave systems naturally contain more clusters. The best dolls to use during the event are:
Doll | Dream Island Type | Why It's Good |
|---|---|---|
Rock Peak Dream Island | More caves and caverns where Red Crystal Clusters spawn | |
Volcanic Dream Island | Abundant cave areas with many breakable clusters |
Unlike Cotton Spores from the Hoppip event (which spawn on every island type), Red Crystal Clusters are concentrated in cave environments, so choosing the right doll matters significantly for farming efficiency.
Mining Efficiency
Breaking Red Crystal Clusters requires the Rock Smash move. Two methods increase mining speed:
Method | How to Unlock | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Rollout move | Befriend Graveler in Rocky Ridges | Faster breaking speed when used on clusters |
Hamburger Steak | Learn the recipe from Chef Dente | Temporary mining efficiency boost after eating |
Combining both methods (learning Rollout and eating a Hamburger Steak before entering caves) makes farming Red Crystal Fragments considerably faster.
Alternative: 3D Printing
If you photograph a Red Crystal Cluster using the in-game camera, you can 3D print it at a crafting station. Each 3D-printed cluster costs 1 Rare Pokemetal Ingot. This is generally not recommended as Rare Pokemetal is more valuable than the fragments you receive, but it provides an option for players who want fragments without visiting Dream Islands.
Event Shop Items
Exchange Red Crystal Fragments at the event shop inside any rebuilt Pokemon Center. Sableye runs the shop after being befriended. All items have unlimited stock, so you can buy as many copies as you need before the event ends.
Item | Cost (Red Crystal Fragments) | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|
Oil Lantern | 2 | Decoration |
Jewel Wall Decorations (x10) | 2 | Decoration |
Digital Camera | 5 | Treasure-Hunting Set habitat component |
Map and Compass | 5 | Treasure-Hunting Set habitat component |
Camping Chair | 5 | Decoration |
Pile of Treasure | 5 | Treasure-Hunting Set habitat component |
Sleeping Bag | 10 | Decoration |
Camping Cooking Pot | 10 | Decoration |
Adventure Kit | 10 | Treasure-Hunting Set habitat component |
Tent Kit | 10 | Decoration |
The total cost to buy one of every item is 54 Red Crystal Fragments. At roughly 4 fragments per cluster and multiple clusters per cave, this is achievable within a few days of consistent Dream Island visits.
Treasure-Hunting Set Habitat
The Treasure-Hunting Set is an event-exclusive habitat for Sableye. It requires three specific event shop items arranged in at least a 3x3 grid:
Required Item | Cost (Red Crystal Fragments) |
|---|---|
Adventure Kit | 10 |
Map and Compass | 5 |
Pile of Treasure | 5 |
The minimum cost for the Treasure-Hunting Set habitat is 20 Red Crystal Fragments. Building this habitat is optional since Sableye is automatically befriended when you first speak to it at the Pokemon Center. However, the habitat adds a thematic campsite decoration to your town and attracts additional Sableye to the area.
Comparison with Cotton Spores
Red Crystal Fragments and Cotton Spores are the two event currencies in Pokopia. They share the same basic design (collect on Dream Islands, spend at the Pokemon Center) but differ in several ways.
Feature | Cotton Spores | Red Crystal Fragments |
|---|---|---|
Event | ||
Collection Method | Pick up floating clusters (Y button) | Break Red Crystal Clusters (Rock Smash) |
Location on Islands | Scattered everywhere (open areas, caves, buildings) | Inside caves only |
Yield per Source | 1 per cluster | ~4 per cluster |
Best Doll | Any doll works equally | Clefairy or Arcanine (cave-heavy islands) |
Shop Item Theme | Picnic furniture | Camping gear |
Farming Tips
Use cave-heavy dolls: Give Drifloon a Clefairy Doll or Arcanine Doll for Dream Islands with more caves, where Red Crystal Clusters are concentrated.
Prepare mining buffs: Learn Rollout from Graveler and cook Hamburger Steaks before heading to Dream Islands. Both buffs stack.
Explore every cave: Red Crystal Clusters can appear in side passages and hidden chambers within cave systems. Check dead ends and elevated ledges.
System clock workaround: Like the Hoppip event, the Sableye event runs on the console's internal system clock. Setting the date to any day between April 29 and May 12, 2026, activates the event regardless of the actual date. See Limited-Time Events for details.
Prioritize habitat items: If you want the Treasure-Hunting Set habitat, buy the Adventure Kit (10), Map and Compass (5), and Pile of Treasure (5) first for a total of 20 fragments. The remaining items are purely decorative.
Cloud Islands exclusion: Red Crystal Clusters do not spawn on Cloud Islands (multiplayer). They are only available on single-player Dream Islands.
