Overview
Brightness is one of the five environmental preference categories in Pokemon Pokopia. Many Electric-type, Grass-type, Bug-type, and Fighting-type Pokemon prefer brightly lit habitats. Building outdoors, adding light source furniture, and using Pokemon with the Burn or Generate specialty are the main ways to keep a habitat bright. Meeting a Pokemon's brightness preference raises its Comfort Level.
Methods to Increase Brightness
Method | Details |
|---|---|
Build Outdoors | Building a habitat outdoors is the easiest way to create a bright habitat. Outdoor habitats are exposed to natural sunlight during the day. Place streetlights nearby to maintain brightness at night. |
Build a House With No Roof | When building a house, leave the roof off to allow light to come through completely. Block-style house kits like the Pink Hut allow customization. You can also add windows if walls are tall enough. |
Add Light Source Furniture | Furniture that emits light (candles, torches, electric light sources) increases brightness. Candles and torches require a Pokemon with the Burn specialty, while electric sources require one with the Generate specialty. |
Place Streetlights | Streetlights maintain brightness in outdoor areas after sunset. Without them, outdoor habitats grow dark at night, potentially lowering comfort for bright-preferring Pokemon. |
Lighting Specialties
Two Pokemon specialties are used to activate artificial light sources. Without the right specialty Pokemon nearby, certain light fixtures remain unlit.
Specialty | Function | Example Pokemon |
|---|---|---|
Burn | Lights campfires, torches, and candles | Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Torchic, Combusken |
Generate | Powers electric light sources with a jolt of electricity | Elekid, Electabuzz, Electivire, Pichu, Pawmi, Pawmo, Pawmot |

Tips
Outdoor placement is the easiest approach. If you need a building, leave the roof off or add windows to let light in.
Streetlights are essential for maintaining brightness at night. Without them, outdoor bright-preferring Pokemon lose comfort after sunset.
Keep a Pokemon with the Burn specialty (like Charmander or Torchic) on hand to light campfires, torches, and candles.
Keep a Pokemon with the Generate specialty (like Pawmi or Elekid) nearby to power electric light sources.
Check each Pokemon's Pokedex entry under "Specialties & Likes" to confirm whether it prefers bright or dark conditions.
Building Kits like the Pink Hut let you customize wall height and add windows for partial light control.
