Overview
Hitmonchan is a Fighting-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Punching Pokemon (Dex #036). It appears in the Withered Wasteland and teaches Ditto the Rock Smash transformation. Hitmonchan is the only Pokemon that spawns in the Exercise Resting Spot habitat, making it a guaranteed encounter once the habitat is built.
Habitat
Hitmonchan lives in the Exercise Resting Spot habitat. This is one of the simplest habitats in the game, requiring only two items:
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Punching Bag | 1 | Can be crafted or found in exploration |
Seat (any type) | 1 | Any chair, bench, or stool works |
Hitmonchan is the sole resident of this habitat. No other Pokemon shares the Exercise Resting Spot, so you do not need to worry about competing spawns.
Location
Hitmonchan spawns in Withered Wasteland. The habitat can be placed anywhere in the region where you have cleared enough space for a punching bag and a seat.
How to Befriend
After building the Exercise Resting Spot, wait a couple of minutes for Hitmonchan to appear. Once it spawns, speak to Hitmonchan to receive a quick request: deliver two stones. Stones can be found scattered on the ground throughout Withered Wasteland. Pick up two stones and hand them to Hitmonchan to complete the request and learn Rock Smash.
Move Taught: Rock Smash
Hitmonchan teaches Ditto the Rock Smash transformation. Rock Smash allows Ditto to destroy blocks of terrain, including dirt, rock, and stone. Its primary use is terraforming: clearing away hard tiles to make room for new buildings, furniture, and landscaping. It also yields materials like stone and ore when breaking rocks.
Rock Smash can be powered up by eating Hamburger Steaks. After consuming a hamburger steak, Rock Smash gains the ability to break harder surfaces, including iron ore, gold ore, and Pokemetal fragments. Higher-tier hamburger steak recipes provide stronger buffs.
Specialty: Trade
Hitmonchan has the Trade specialty. Pokemon with this specialty can exchange items with you at a cash register. If you place a register near the Pokemon Center or Poke Mart, Hitmonchan will staff the counter and run trades during its free time.
