Overview
Pokemon Pokopia is a relaxed game with very few permanently missable decisions. Most actions can be undone or redone: buildings can be demolished and rebuilt, Pokemon habitats can be rearranged, and appearance can be changed at any time using a mirror. However, there are a small number of irreversible choices and time-limited content that players should be aware of.
Permanent Decisions
These choices cannot be changed after they are made:
Character Name
The player's character name is chosen at the start of the game and cannot be changed afterward. This is the name that appears in multiplayer, on the Pokedex, and in dialogue. Choose carefully.
Note: Character appearance (skin color, hair, clothing) CAN be changed at any time using a standing mirror purchased from the PC Shop. Only the name is permanent.
Starting Island Layout
All playthroughs begin in Withered Wasteland with the same basic island layout. This initial configuration is essential for the tutorial and cannot be altered in terms of the base terrain generation. While players can build on, modify, and reshape the terrain extensively, the underlying layout seed is fixed per save file.
Limited-Time Events
Pokemon Pokopia features limited-time events that provide access to special guest Pokemon. These Pokemon are only obtainable during the event window. Once befriended, event Pokemon stay on your island permanently even after the event ends. However, if you miss the event entirely, those Pokemon cannot be obtained until a potential rerun (not yet confirmed).
To participate in events, you must have rebuilt the Pokemon Center in at least one town.
Known Events
Event | Dates | Exclusive Pokemon | Event Currency |
|---|---|---|---|
More Spores for Hoppip | March 10-24, 2026 | Hoppip, Skiploom, Jumpluff | Cotton Spores (from Dream Islands) |
Sableye Event | April 29 - May 13, 2026 | Sableye | Red Crystal Fragments (from Dream Islands) |
Event Participation Tips
Rebuild a Pokemon Center before the event starts. This is required to access event content.
Visit Dream Islands during events to collect the event-specific currency (Cotton Spores, Red Crystal Fragments).
Event shop items typically have unlimited stock, so you can buy as many as needed before the event ends.
Cloud Islands do not participate in events. Event Pokemon and items are only available in the main story areas and Dream Islands.
Once you befriend an event Pokemon, it stays on your island permanently. You will not lose it when the event ends.
Things That Are NOT Missable
Many players worry about missing content, but most things in Pokopia are permanent and accessible at any time:
Character appearance: Can be changed at any mirror (purchasable from PC Shop).
Pokemon: All non-event Pokemon (roughly 290+ species) are permanently available through habitats and Dream Islands.
Story progression: All story quests remain available. There are no timed story missions.
Buildings and habitats: Can be demolished, relocated, and rebuilt at any time via the Bulldoze specialty.
Recipes and items: All crafting recipes, building kits, and items remain available in the PC Shop or through progression.
Human Records: All collectible documents persist in the world until collected. None disappear.
Mystery Slates: Available permanently from Glowing Blocks across all areas and Dream Islands.
Legendary Pokemon: Story Legendaries are unmissable. Dream Island Legendaries can be attempted daily.
Tips
Pick a character name you will be happy with long-term. It is the only truly permanent choice in the game.
Check for active limited-time events regularly. Follow official Pokemon social media for announcements.
Do not stress about missing content during normal gameplay. Pokopia is designed to be relaxed, and almost everything can be redone.
If you missed a limited-time event, there is hope that events may rerun in the future, though this has not been confirmed by The Pokemon Company.
