The Memory System is a feature in inZOI that allows Zois to recall past events and undergo changes in behavior based on their experiences. Working in tandem with the Smart Zoi AI, the Memory System creates a feedback loop where a Zoi's history influences their future decisions, Emotions, and daily routines. The system was introduced in the v0.5.0 update (December 2025), replacing the earlier placeholder Recording System.
How Memories Work
Throughout each in-game day, the Smart Zoi AI tracks significant events, interactions, and experiences that a Zoi encounters. These events are stored as memories and influence the Zoi's behavior going forward. The memory system processes:
Important social interactions (conversations, conflicts, romantic moments)
Career milestones (promotions, job changes, notable work events)
Family events (births, weddings, deaths)
Emotional highs and lows throughout the day
Skill achievements and personal accomplishments
The Diary System
At the end of each in-game day (past 11 PM, when the Zoi is sufficiently tired), Zois write their own diary reflecting on the day's events. The diary is generated by the Smart Zoi AI and captures the Zoi's personal perspective on what happened. Each Zoi's diary reflects their unique Traits, Values, and personality.
Behavioral Adaptation
After diary writing, the Smart Zoi AI analyzes the Zoi's thoughts, feelings, and events to generate a new schedule for the following day. This process means that a Zoi's daily routine naturally evolves over time based on their experiences:
Positive experiences with a particular activity may lead the Zoi to seek it out more often
Negative social interactions may cause a Zoi to avoid certain other Zois
Career stress might lead to prioritizing fun and relaxation activities
Strong emotional events can shift a Zoi's priorities and Values over time
Inner Thoughts
The Memory System works alongside the inner thoughts display, which shows what a Zoi is currently thinking. These thoughts are influenced by recent memories and provide players with insight into a Zoi's mental state. Inner thoughts can reveal how past events are affecting current behavior and decision-making.
400+ Mental Parameters
Each Zoi has over 400 mental parameters that the Smart Zoi AI uses to generate context-aware decisions. These parameters are influenced by memories and include factors like current emotional state, recent interactions, skill affinities, and long-term personality development. The combination of memories and mental parameters creates behaviors that feel organic and personalized to each Zoi.
Technical Requirements
The Memory System relies on the Smart Zoi AI, which uses a Small Language Model running on-device. On Windows, this requires an NVIDIA GPU at the Medium specification tier or above. On macOS, the system uses Apple's Core ML framework. See System Requirements for details on compatible hardware.
