Overview
inZOI supports multiple architecture styles through its Build Mode system. Each city has a distinct visual identity: Dowon features modern Korean urban design with traditional elements, Bliss Bay draws from Southern California coastal architecture, and Cahaya showcases tropical Indonesian resort design. The 2026 Roadmap adds new style sets including European and Hanok (traditional Korean) architecture with matching furniture and outfits.
Players can mix and match building components from different styles freely. While certain presets are designed for specific lot types, the individual elements (walls, windows, doors, roofing) can be combined to create unique hybrid designs.
Available Styles
Modern Korean Urban
The dominant style in Dowon. Modern Korean Urban architecture reflects contemporary South Korean city design with clean geometric lines and dense vertical construction.

Element | |
|---|---|
Buildings | High-rise apartments, commercial towers, mixed-use complexes |
Facades | Glass and concrete facades, minimal ornamentation |
Streets | Organized urban grid with pedestrian pathways, neon signage at night |
Lots | Compact residential lots suited for apartment-style builds |
Dowon's built environment captures the look of neighborhoods like Gangnam or Hongdae, with a mix of commercial ground floors beneath residential upper stories. The style works well for players building modern city homes or urban businesses.
Coastal Californian
The signature style of Bliss Bay. Coastal Californian architecture draws from Southern California beach communities with relaxed, sun-drenched aesthetics.
Element | |
|---|---|
Buildings | Beach bungalows, Mediterranean-style villas, two-story coastal homes |
Facades | Stucco walls, warm earth tones, terracotta roofing |
Streets | Palm-lined boulevards, open sidewalks, oceanfront promenades |
Lots | Wider residential lots with yard space; beachfront properties available |
The Mediterranean Two-Story House is one of the default properties included with the game and serves as a good example of the Bliss Bay aesthetic. Beachfront lots offer scenic ocean views that pair naturally with this style.
Tropical Indonesian
Found exclusively on Cahaya in the Island Getaway DLC. Tropical Indonesian design emphasizes natural materials and open-air living suited to the island climate.
Element | |
|---|---|
Buildings | Island cottages, resort villas, open-air structures |
Materials | Wood, bamboo, thatched roofing, natural stone |
Layout | Elevated foundations, covered verandas, indoor-outdoor flow |
Lots | Farm properties, hillside plots, beachfront locations |
Cahaya's architecture reflects traditional Indonesian building principles where structures work with the tropical climate rather than against it. Elevated foundations protect against flooding, and open layouts allow airflow.
Hanok (Traditional Korean)
Hanok refers to traditional Korean house design, characterized by natural materials, curved roof lines, and harmony with the surrounding landscape. inZOI added initial Hanok support in the v0.6.1 hotfix (February 2026).
Element | |
|---|---|
Roofs | Curved rooflines with upturned eaves, clay tile construction |
Walls | Wooden beam frames with paper-plastered panels |
Layout | Courtyard-centered design with rooms arranged around an open central space |
Materials | Wood, stone foundations, clay tiles, natural earthen tones |
Hanok Presets and Lots
The v0.6.1 update added two Hanok building presets to the Junghwa Parkville and Aram Estate property lots in Dowon. A Hanok property was also added to the Ullim Temple area. These presets provide pre-built traditional Korean homes that can be further customized.
Building Hanok-style homes from scratch currently has some limitations. Public lots and street lots do not allow wall construction, and certain temple-area lots restrict multi-story building. The Ullim Cafe at the Temple's far end permits ground-floor Hanok construction but blocks second stories. These are intentional design restrictions, not bugs.
The Q1 2026 Roadmap includes plans for additional Hanok architectural elements, Hanok furniture sets, and Hanbok-style traditional Korean outfits.
European (Upcoming)
European architecture, furniture, and outfit sets are planned for Q1 2026 as part of the 2026 Roadmap. This will add a Western European aesthetic option that can be used across all cities.

European-style building components: walls, windows, doors, and roofing with Western European design motifs
European furniture and interior decoration items
European outfit sets for character customization
Specific sub-styles (e.g., French, Tudor, Mediterranean) have not been detailed. Community creations on the Canvas already include European-inspired builds such as French houses, built using existing elements.
Building Elements
Build Mode organizes construction into four main categories. Architectural style is primarily determined by how you combine elements from the Building category.
Category | Contents |
|---|---|
Building Presets | Pre-built property, room, and furniture layouts that can be placed instantly |
Building | Individual infrastructure pieces: walls, doors, windows, roofing, flooring, stairs, fences |
Decorative and functional items organized by room type | |
Craft | Custom furniture creation using the 3D Printer and AI texture tools |
Key Building Features
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Modular windows | The v0.5.0 update added rescalable modular windows, making it easier to achieve specific architectural looks by adjusting window size and proportions. |
Color and material customization | Select any wall, floor, or roof tile and change its color and material. This lets you create style variations without needing dedicated style-specific assets. |
Roof placement | Roofs are placed in rectangular shapes. Diagonal walls may not be fully covered, so plan roof lines carefully when building non-rectangular structures. |
Curved walls | Build Mode supports curved wall segments for creating rounded rooms and organic shapes. |
Basements | Basement construction is available, adding underground space to your builds. |
Mixing Styles
There are no restrictions on combining architectural elements from different styles within a single build. A Dowon apartment could feature Mediterranean-style windows, Hanok roofing elements, and tropical furniture from Cahaya. This flexibility encourages creative experimentation.
When mixing styles, pay attention to material consistency. Combining wood-heavy Hanok elements with glass-and-concrete modern pieces can look jarring unless bridged with transitional materials. The color and material customization tools help unify mixed designs by letting you match finishes across different element types.
Upcoming Build Mode Improvements
The Q4 2026 Roadmap includes further building system enhancements:
Terrain editing features (beginning development)
Interior and exterior wall module decoration features (beginning development)
These are labeled as starting development in Q4, meaning they are foundational work that may extend into 2027 before full release.
