Overview
First-Person Camera is a planned camera mode for inZOI that lets players view the world directly through their Zoi's eyes rather than from the default isometric and shoulder-view perspectives. The feature was first previewed publicly in the Week 3 April 2026 weekly developer update and confirmed in the April 17 community letter from Director Hyungjun Kim. As of April 25, 2026, the feature is in active development and has not yet shipped on the live build (v0.7.5).
Current Camera Modes
Before First-Person Camera ships, inZOI offers three live camera options:
Mode | Description |
|---|---|
Default Top-Down | Floating perspective above the city or lot. Used for navigation, scheduling, and most general gameplay. |
Free Camera | Unrestricted free movement, available with the EnableFreeCamera cheat. Used primarily for screenshots and Photo Mode. |
Shoulder View | Over-the-shoulder camera mode, originally part of v0.7.0 then disabled briefly before being restored in v0.7.2 (March 31, 2026). Provides a closer cinematic view. |
Confirmed Behavior
Public previews and developer comments have outlined what the first-person mode is expected to support at launch. Specific control bindings and field-of-view options have not been finalised.
Free look around the active Zoi's surroundings using the mouse or right analog stick.
Field-of-view tied to the Zoi's actual perspective, including head turn animations during conversations.
Ability to switch between first-person, shoulder, and default camera modes via a hotkey or radial menu.
Compatible with most active gameplay (walking, eating, talking) but may disable for certain scripted scenes.

Use Cases
Once shipped, first-person camera will be useful for:
Immersive roleplay during life events such as marriages, funerals, and birthday parties.
Cinematic screenshots and Photo Mode composition from the Zoi's eye level.
Storytelling clips for Canvas and other community sharing platforms.
Accessibility for players who prefer character-anchored perspectives over top-down views.
Compatibility With Existing Features
First-person camera is being designed to coexist with existing systems, not replace them. The April 17 letter described it alongside MetaHuman preset import for character creation and Build Mode multi-selection as a quality-of-life expansion rather than a core gameplay overhaul.
Build Mode will retain its existing top-down planning view; first-person will not be the primary mode for placement.
Live Mode will let players toggle between first-person and the default view.
Smart Zoi autonomous behavior will run regardless of which camera mode is active.
