City animals
Animals roam the streets and parks of inZOI's cities, though most are decorative during Early Access. Players can add up to 3 types of animals to their city through the Edit City menu (press M, then go to City Appearance > Animals tab). Density for each type can be set from none to high.
Available animal types
The animals that can be placed in cities include cats, dogs, pandas, deer, raccoons, squirrels, foxes, and crocodiles (sometimes listed as alligators). Animals tend to hang around parks and green spaces. They don't spawn automatically -- the player has to add them through Edit City.

Interacting with animals
Most animals are decorative and can't be clicked on. The two exceptions are cats and pandas, which become interactable under specific conditions.
Cat interactions
Cats become interactable once a Zoi reaches 60 points in the Coexistence value. Available interactions:

Item | Description |
|---|---|
Give Snack | feed a nearby cat |
Greet with a Treat | requires 60+ Coexistence value |
Receive Comfort Through Empathy | only available when the Zoi is sad or depressed |
Successfully bonding with a cat fulfills the "Wants to Bond with Animals" urge and earns Meow Coins.
Panda interactions
Feed Bamboo -- the primary panda interaction, available when near a panda in a park or green space
Cahaya's Cat Temple
The Island Getaway DLC added the Miatara Temple (Cat Temple) on the southern part of Cahaya's resort island. Players can:

Play with cats, give them treats, and meditate with them
Buy cat-related items outside the temple: treats, toys, a talisman, and Catnip Candy
Meditate alongside the temple cats for a happiness boost
The happiness effect depends on the Zoi's personality and needs.
Marine wildlife
Cahaya's waters contain marine animals that players encounter while swimming and snorkeling:
Friendly -- sea turtles, dolphins, and fish that swim alongside your Zoi
Dangerous -- sharks and jellyfish that pose hazards for swimmers. Higher Swimming skill reduces the danger.
A "Nestwatcher for Turtles" rabbit-hole job is available on the island.
Animal-related furniture
Several animal-themed items can be placed through Build Mode: cat wheels, scratching posts, food bowls, and cat trees. These items are currently decorative and non-functional since there are no adoptable pets yet.
Pets (planned)
Adoptable household pets are not available during Early Access. In a February 2025 Discord AMA, the developers said pets are a "high priority for future updates" but require "extensive development for proper interactions." They want to provide "the full experience of having a pet, not just having a pet next to your character." The Island Getaway DLC did not add pets either, though the Cat Temple and cat interactions expanded animal content.
