Early Access launch
inZOI entered Early Access on March 28, 2025, on Windows via Steam at a price of $39.99 USD. The launch was accompanied by a promise that all updates and DLC would remain free until the full 1.0 release. The EA period is planned to last at least one year according to the Steam store page.
The game sold over one million copies in its first week. The peak concurrent player count on Steam reached 87,377. Steam user reviews settled at "Very Positive" (86% positive) during the initial launch window.
2025 updates
May 2025 feature update
The first major post-launch patch. Key additions:

Weight and muscle change system for Zoi bodies based on activity and diet.
In-game cheat codes via the console (Ctrl+Shift+C).
Relationship improvements and the adoption system.
Build Mode enhancements with new furniture items.

August 2025 (Island Getaway)

December 2025 (v0.5.0)
A systems-focused update that overhauled several core mechanics:
Multitasking Zois can perform multiple actions simultaneously (e.g., eating while talking).
Business ownership players can own and manage businesses.
Criminal careers new career paths in the criminal underworld.
Memory System replaced the placeholder recording system with a proper event memory log.
Move Cities households can relocate between different cities.

2026 roadmap: Fundamentals First
Director Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim announced the 2026 plan on December 26, 2025. The philosophy is "Fundamentals First": strengthening core gameplay systems before adding new features. The plan splits into quarterly content drops plus ongoing fundamental improvements.

Beyond Fundamentals
Three major initiatives run alongside the quarterly updates:
Canvastown
A new world built using the Fate Engine, a system designed around "shared narratives" where Zoi stories interconnect. Two Canvastown releases are planned:
Canvastown #1 (June 2026) approximately 40 lots. An urban environment where players build and connect communities.
Canvastown #2 (October 2026) approximately 50 lots with a rural and pastoral setting.
multiplayer (inZOI Online)
Dedicated servers planned to support hundreds to thousands of concurrent players. Features in development include online lobbies, chat rooms, and visiting other players' decorated houses. See the multiplayer and Canvas article for details. The multiplayer system is currently in R&D.
expanded modding
Lua scripting support is planned for December 2026, giving modders the ability to create custom behaviors, events, and gameplay systems. Monthly modding improvements continue throughout the year.
