Overview
Iron Ore is one of the most important materials in Pokemon Pokopia. It is smelted into Iron Ingots at a furnace, and Iron Ingots are used in a vast number of crafting and building recipes. Iron Ore is unique among ores because it can be obtained through both mining and recycling.
How to Obtain
Method | Details |
|---|---|
Mining | Break down Iron ore blocks in the Rocky Ridges mines using Rock Smash |
Recycling | Give Nonburnable Garbage to Pokemon with the Recycle specialty (Trubbish, Garbodor) |
Iron ore blocks have a darker, metallic appearance compared to Copper ore blocks. They are moderately common in Rocky Ridges, though less abundant than Copper. The Recycle method provides a supplementary source using waste materials from Bleak Beach.
Smelting
Iron Ore is smelted into Iron Ingots at a Smelting Furnace operated by a Pokemon with the Burn specialty.

Crafting Importance
Iron Ingots are among the most demanded materials in the game. They appear in recipes for advanced furniture, tools, structural building components, and even the Tinkagear production process (via Tinkaton). The four-floor reconstruction of the huge building in Sparkling Skylands consumes large quantities of Iron Ingots.
Tips
Maintain two Iron Ore supply lines: mining at Rocky Ridges and recycling Nonburnable Garbage at Bleak Beach. This dual-source approach prevents bottlenecks during large building projects. Eating a Hamburger Steak before mining powers up Rock Smash, allowing you to break tougher ore blocks more efficiently.
