Overview
Iron Ore is a crafting material in Pokemon Pokopia gathered from iron deposits and metal debris in mid-game and late-game regions. It is the most heavily used metal raw material in the game, with iron ingots required for dozens of furniture, appliance, and structural recipes.
In-game description: "Metal that can be obtained from iron deposits. It can also be found among metal debris."

How to Obtain
Overworld Locations
Rocky Ridges (primary): Iron deposits in mining areas; densest source.
Sparkling Skylands: Metal debris among ruined buildings.
Palette Town: Scattered iron deposits in the sandbox area.
Dream Islands
Iron Ore spawns naturally on the Arcanine Doll Dream Island. Bring an Arcanine Doll to Drifloon to access this island variant.
Recycling Pokemon
Pokemon with the Recycle specialty (such as Trubbish and Garbodor) convert Nonburnable Garbage into Iron Ore. This is one of the easiest passive Iron Ore sources once you have established a Recycle pipeline.
Crafting Chain
Step | Input | Output | Facility |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | Iron Ore | Iron Ingot | Smelting Furnace |
Optional | Iron Ingot + other materials | Various recipes | Workbench |
Smelting Iron Ore into Iron Ingot requires a Smelting Furnace powered by a Burn-specialty Pokemon. See the Burn specialty article for the list of Pokemon that can power the furnace.
Recipes Using Iron Ore (or Iron Ingot)
Iron Ore (smelted into Iron Ingot) is used in many recipes, including:
Furniture: Antique chest, antique closet, garden table, antique table, garden chair, antique dresser
Appliances: Shower, alarm clock, smelting furnace, cash register
Outdoor items: Streetlights, harbor pole, grate fencing, multiple iron pipe variants
Decorative elements: Spotlight, antique chandelier, boat railing
Tips
Establish a Recycle pipeline early. Place a Trubbish habitat near a Trash Collection Site so the Pokemon converts garbage to Iron Ore passively while you focus on other tasks.
Mine Rocky Ridges aggressively during your first visit. The dense iron deposits are easier to spot than scattered metal debris in Sparkling Skylands.
Power your Smelting Furnace with multiple Burn Pokemon to maximize Iron Ingot throughput. Charmander, Growlithe, and Vulpix are good early choices.
Keep a Recycle Pokemon stationed in Bleak Beach where Nonburnable Garbage is most abundant.
