Overview
Volcanion is a Legendary Pokemon encountered in Rocky Ridges during the main story. It appears at the top of the volcano after the party celebration in the Time to Party! quest. Befriending Volcanion is one of two requirements (alongside Raikou) for reaching Hyper Trainer Rank.
How to Encounter
Volcanion appears after the player successfully throws a party with all the Pokemon in Rocky Ridges. The sequence of events leading to the encounter:
Rescue Chef Dente by using Cut on the chains binding them.
Set up DJ Rotom with a Music CD to play music and raise the area's mood.
Cook curry in the Party Cooking Pot with Chef Dente (requires 15 Leppa Berries, 15 Wheat, 15 Beans, and 5 Honey).
With the party in full swing, speak to Professor Tangrowth.
Volcanion appears at the top of the volcano.
Climb the rocky mountains to speak with Volcanion.
Story Significance
Befriending Volcanion is one of two requirements for reaching Hyper Trainer Rank (Ultra). The other requirement is befriending Raikou at Bleak Beach. Once both Legendary Pokemon have been befriended, the area gates to Sparkling Skylands unlock.
