Tinkmaster is one of the seven Special Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia. It is a unique form of Tinkaton (Fairy/Steel type, Pokedex #270) sometimes called the Supervisor Form, wielding an oversized all-purpose hammer designed for heavy construction. Tinkmaster holds the exclusive Engineer specialty, making it the only Pokemon that can lead the largest building projects and the sole source of Tinkagears, a critical crafting material for late-game structures.
Tinkmaster retains the general body shape of a Tinkaton but is noticeably larger and carries a distinctively oversized all-purpose hammer rather than the standard Tinkaton mallet. The hammer head has a flat striking surface on one side and a prying claw on the other, reflecting its dual role as both a demolition and construction tool. Tinkmaster's body has subtle differences from a regular Tinkaton, including a sturdier build and construction-themed markings. Its unique Supervisor Form sets it apart visually from any regular Tinkaton in the game.

Tinkmaster is found in Sparkling Skylands, the fourth and final main story region. Specifically, it appears at the Oversized Dumping Ground habitat, a unique location on one of the floating islands. To encounter Tinkmaster:
Progress through the Sparkling Skylands story until you can access the floating islands in the western portion of the area.
Locate the Oversized Dumping Ground, a scrapyard-like area filled with discarded metal parts and broken machinery.
Tinkmaster appears here at any time of day and in any weather conditions.
Befriend Tinkmaster by offering it Iron Ingots or crafted metal items. It has a preference for refined metals.
As a Special Pokemon, Tinkmaster cannot be encountered through normal habitat building. It exists only at this one fixed location in the world, similar to how Peakychu and Mosslax each have their own unique encounter locations.
Tinkmaster possesses the exclusive Engineer specialty. No other Pokemon in Pokopia has this specialty. The Engineer specialty has three key functions:
Function | Description |
|---|---|
Lead Major Builds | Tinkmaster takes charge of the largest and most complex construction tasks. Certain Building Kit blueprints require the Engineer specialty and cannot be completed by standard Build-specialty Pokemon alone. |
Accelerate Construction | When Tinkmaster is assigned to any building project, construction speed increases significantly. This stacks with other Build-specialty Pokemon working on the same project. |
Craft Tinkagears | When given Iron Ingots, Tinkmaster converts them into Tinkagears at a ratio of 1 Iron Ingot to 3 Tinkagears. This is the only way to obtain Tinkagears in the game. |
Tinkagears are a unique crafting material produced exclusively by Tinkmaster. They are small gear-shaped metal components required for constructing advanced mechanical structures and late-game projects. To produce Tinkagears, give Tinkmaster Iron Ingots (smelted from Iron Ore at a furnace).
Input | Output | Conversion Rate |
|---|---|---|
3 Tinkagears | Processed by Tinkmaster |
Tinkagears are required for the following structures and projects:
Structure | Tinkagears Required | Other Key Materials |
|---|---|---|
Lift Platform | 10 | 5 Iron Ingots, 3 Lumber |
Elevator Platform | 15 | |
Mechanical Bridge | 8 | 4 Iron Ingots, 4 Lumber |
Advanced Furnace | 12 | 6 Stone, 4 Iron Ingots |
Team Initiation Challenge Stage 5 | 20 | 10 Iron Ingots, 5 Pokemetal, various materials |
Because Tinkagears are gated behind befriending Tinkmaster in Sparkling Skylands, these structures are effectively late-game content. Players should stockpile Iron Ingots in earlier regions so they have a ready supply when Tinkmaster becomes available.
After befriending Tinkmaster, it initiates the "Rebuild the Huge Building" quest, one of the largest construction projects in the game. This multi-phase quest involves rebuilding a massive four-story structure in Sparkling Skylands:
Phase | Task | Key Requirements |
|---|---|---|
Phase 1 | Clear the rubble and salvage materials from the ruined foundation | Rock Smash, multiple Build Pokemon |
Phase 2 | Construct the first and second floors (foundation and walls) | |
Phase 3 | Build the third floor with mechanical systems | Tinkagears, Pokemetal, Build and Engineer specialties |
Phase 4 | Complete the fourth floor and rooftop observatory | Crystal Fragments, Tinkagears, Pokemetal |
Tinkmaster must be present and assigned to the project for each phase. The completed building functions as a landmark structure and unlocks a rooftop observatory with a telescope that can be used for stargazing. The quest also rewards a unique furniture item and a significant amount of friendship with Tinkmaster.
The building system in Pokemon Pokopia involves both manual block-by-block construction and prefabricated Building Kits. For the largest Building Kit projects, Tinkmaster's Engineer specialty is required. Without Tinkmaster, certain blueprint stages cannot be completed, and the build will stall at the phase that requires an Engineer.
Tinkmaster works best as part of a complete construction team. Assigning Pokemon with complementary specialties to the same project ensures all construction steps can proceed without interruption:
Specialty | Function | Key Pokemon |
|---|---|---|
Engineer | Leads major builds, crafts Tinkagears | Tinkmaster (exclusive) |
Build | Required for blueprint construction | |
Chop | Breaks logs into Lumber | |
Burn | Fires furnaces, creates Bricks from Clay | Charmander line, Torchic line |
Bulldoze | Rebuilds Pokemon Centers, relocates buildings | |
Crush | Creates Cement and colored Paint |
Detail | Information |

Stock up on Iron Ingots before reaching Sparkling Skylands. Mining Iron Ore in Rocky Ridges and smelting it at a furnace is the most efficient method.
Assign Tinkmaster to your most important building projects first, since the construction speed boost is substantial.
Tinkagears are not available from any other source. Befriending Tinkmaster is a hard requirement for late-game building progression and for completing Team Initiation Challenge Stage 5.
Keep Tinkmaster fed and happy to maintain maximum crafting efficiency. Higher friendship levels may increase the speed at which it converts Iron Ingots to Tinkagears.
The Rebuild the Huge Building quest is not required for story progression, but completing it unlocks the rooftop observatory, which is valuable for astronomy and stargazing activities.
Tinkmaster pairs well with Bulldoze-specialty Pokemon like Onix for clearing land before major construction projects.
