Raikou

Overview

Raikou is one of the three Legendary Beasts in Pokemon Pokopia, alongside Entei and Suicune. Raikou is unique among the Beasts because it has both a story encounter at Bleak Beach and a separate Dream Island recruitment step. Befriending Raikou is one of two requirements (alongside Volcanion) for reaching Ultra Trainer Rank and unlocking Sparkling Skylands.

Story Encounter (Bleak Beach)

Raikou first appears at the end of the Brighten Things Up Important Request at Bleak Beach. After the player restores electricity to the area, wakes Mosslax with Peakychu's help, and clears the darkness from the coastal town, a cutscene plays. Raikou appears and speaks briefly about the player's ability to brighten up the city before departing.

This story encounter registers Raikou in the player's Pokedex and counts toward Ultra Trainer Rank progression. However, Raikou does not stay on the island. To permanently recruit Raikou, the player must find it again on a Dream Island.

Recruiting Raikou (Dream Island)

Required Doll

Raikou appears on the Ocean Dream Island, accessed by using a Pikachu Doll with Drifloon. The Pikachu Doll can be found in Glowing Blocks at Bleak Beach or purchased from the Palette Town Pokemon Center PC Shop.

Navigating the Ocean Dream Island

After arriving on the Ocean Dream Island, head toward the central mountain and dive into the cave system. Follow the paths downward and look for an area with Steel Blocks and gaps in the walls. If Raikou is present, you will find it behind a barrier of Steel Blocks. Break through using Rock Smash (powered up by eating Hamburger Steak). Speak to Raikou to bring it along, and collect the 3 Rare Pokemetal on the pedestal behind it before returning to Drifloon.

The encounter is not guaranteed on every visit. If the Steel Block barrier is not present, Raikou did not spawn this time. Wait until the next real-world day or adjust your system clock forward one day to reset the Dream Island.

Specialty

Raikou has the Generate specialty, which allows it to power nearby machines in its free time. This makes Raikou a practical helper for the Electricity and Power system, as it passively generates electricity for lamps, appliances, and other powered devices near its habitat. Having Raikou near electrical infrastructure reduces the need for Windmills or Furnace Generators.

Habitat Preferences

After recruiting Raikou from the Dream Island, assign it to a house and decorate to boost its Comfort Level. Raikou prefers a bright environment.

Offer Dry-flavor food (such as Mushroom Soup or Crushed-Berry Salad) to Raikou to quickly increase its Comfort Level.

Connection to Ho-Oh

Encountering all three Legendary Beasts (Raikou, Entei, and Suicune) unlocks the recipe for the Clear Bell. The Clear Bell is crafted using 5 Rare Pokemetal and 5 Rainbow Feathers. Ring the Clear Bell when Ho-Oh is flying overhead to summon it.

Tips

• Always eat Hamburger Steak before visiting the Ocean Dream Island. You need powered-up Rock Smash to break Steel Blocks.

• Raikou's Generate specialty makes it one of the most practically useful Legendary Pokemon. Place its habitat near electrical devices for passive power generation.

• The Pikachu Doll is available from the Palette Town Pokemon Center shop, so stock up if you plan multiple Dream Island visits.

• Collect the 3 Rare Pokemetal behind Raikou before leaving. This material is needed for crafting the Clear Bell and Tidal Bell.

• Decorate Raikou's home with electronic and glass items to quickly raise its Comfort Level.
