Overview
Glide is a Ditto transformation move in Pokemon Pokopia that transforms Ditto into Dragonite for aerial traversal. It is the twelfth move unlocked in the game, learned at Sparkling Skylands. Glide is essential for navigating the floating islands that define the Sparkling Skylands region and provides a major quality-of-life improvement for getting around every map in the game.
How to Unlock
Prerequisites
Before you can attract Dragonite, you need to befriend Froakie first. Froakie requires a Hydrated Pink Tall Grass habitat.
Build the Waterside Dinghy Habitat
After befriending Froakie, the hint for the Waterside Dinghy habitat becomes available. Head east from the Pokemon Center at Sparkling Skylands to a high-up location. The habitat requires:
Item | Quantity |
|---|---|
Canoe | 1 |
Duckweed | 2 |
Water (nearby) | Required |
To create the Duckweed, eat a Plain Salad to power up Leafage, then use the upgraded Leafage near the Canoe by water to spawn Duckweed patches.
Once the habitat is complete, Dragonite will appear. Complete Dragonite's request (deliver 5 Alarm Clocks, crafted from Iron Ore) to learn Glide.
Controls
Button | Action |
|---|---|
R (while airborne) | Transform into Dragonite and begin gliding |
Left Stick | Steer direction while gliding |
Hold B | Accelerate / fly faster |
To activate Glide, you must first be in the air. Press Jump (R) from a high ledge, then press R again mid-air to transform. Ditto takes on Dragonite's full form and gradually descends while moving forward. Holding B increases speed but also increases the rate of descent and PP consumption.
PP Cost
Glide continuously drains PP while active. If your PP runs out mid-flight, the transformation ends and Ditto will fall to the ground. Always check your PP bar before launching from a high point, and carry food to restore energy if needed.
Tips
Glide works in every region, not just Sparkling Skylands. Climb to a high point in Withered Wasteland or Rocky Ridges and glide to cover large distances quickly.
You can transition from Surf to Glide by jumping out of water near a ledge and pressing R mid-air.
Eat food before a long glide to ensure full PP. Running out of energy over a gap between islands can leave you stranded at a lower elevation.
The 5 Alarm Clocks for Dragonite's request require Iron Ore, which is easiest to obtain with an upgraded Rock Smash (eat a Hamburger Steak first).
