Overview
Damiane is the fastest playable character in Crimson Desert, built around precision, speed, and a combat style that mixes rapier fencing, firearms, and aerial magic. She becomes playable at the start of Chapter 3, after the End of Greed questline. Compared to Kliff, Damiane has a lower health pool and weaker blocking, but compensates with faster attacks, quick-step dodging, and the highest single-target damage potential.
Damiane's skills are organized into three color-coded trees: Stamina (blue), Spirit (green), and Health (red). Skills are unlocked and upgraded using AbyssArtifacts. Stat upgrades (Health, Stamina, Spirit) made on Kliff's skill tree carry over to Damiane, but individual skill levels must be upgraded separately for each character.
Base Stats
Damiane's base stats at the start of Chapter 3 are listed below. These values can be increased through Abyss Artifact investments in the skill trees. Stat upgrades made on Kliff's tree carry over to Damiane.
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
Health | 90 |
60 | |
120 | |
Attack | 15 |
12 | |
Critical Hit Chance | 8% |
Compared to Kliff, Damiane has lower Health and Defense but higher Stamina. This reflects her agile, evasion-heavy playstyle. Her high Stamina pool allows her to chain more attacks and dodges before needing to recover.

Quick Reload
Quick Reload: a passive skill that lets Damiane reload her ranged weapon faster during combat. Patch 1.04 changed how the skill is acquired. Previously it could only be learned through Observation Learning, meaning players who missed the observation opportunity lost access to it permanently after Chapter 11. Ambush
Ambush is a new stealth opener added to Damiane in Patch 1.04. Previously exclusive to Kliff, Ambush lets Damiane close on an unaware enemy from behind or from cover and trigger a high-damage takedown without alerting nearby foes. It integrates with her existing mobility kit: the speed advantage that already defines her playstyle feeds directly into approach angles, so scouts on patrol or lone sentries can be removed before a larger fight begins. The same patch added Ambush to Oongka, so all three playable characters now share the opener.

Focused Force Palm
Patch 1.04 added a Spirit-tree skill to Damiane with the same effect as Kliff's Focused Force Palm. The move channels Axiom energy into a concentrated palm strike that shatters the glowing Axiom Force walls guarding treasure rooms, shortcuts, and puzzle chambers across the world. Before the patch, any of those walls forced a party swap back to Kliff to continue; after 1.04 Damiane can break them herself. The cross-character addition also applies to Oongka, so every character can now handle the Axiom wall puzzles. This pairs naturally with her newly unlocked Axiom Force capabilities (see below).

Weapon Types
Damiane can equip and switch between a wide range of weapon types, giving her versatility in both melee and ranged engagements. Her arsenal includes:
Weapon Type | Notes |
|---|---|
Damiane's signature weapon. Fast thrusting attacks with high precision. | |
Longsword | Balanced reach and damage for standard melee engagements. |
Spear | Long range melee weapon ideal for keeping enemies at a distance. |
Dual Weapon | |
Pistol | Ranged weapon used with Marksmanship, Charged Shot, and Focused Shot skills. |
Greatsword | Heavy two-handed weapon with slower attacks but high damage per hit. |
Shield | Used for blocking, Charge attacks, and the Shield Toss ranged skill. |
Players can swap between weapons mid-combat using the Quick Swap skill (L1 + L2), enabling fluid transitions between weapon styles without breaking combo flow.
Starting Skills
Damiane begins with the following skills already unlocked when she becomes playable in Chapter 3:
Starting Equipment
When Damiane becomes playable in Chapter 3, she comes equipped with the following gear:
Type | |
|---|---|
Ranged Weapon | |
Melee Weapon (Rapier) | |
Melee Weapon (Greatsword) | |
Melee Weapon (Dual Weapon) | |
Shield |
These starting weapons cover most of Damiane's combat styles right from the beginning. Players can find additional weapons through exploration, quest rewards, and crafting as they progress through the story.
Skill Progression
Skills are upgraded using Abyss Artifacts, which are acquired by defeating enemies, completing quests, and finding Sealed Abyss Artifacts hidden around the world. The AbyssArtifact cost increases progressively as you invest more points in a given skill. Some skills can also be learned by observing them being performed in combat encounters.
Many skills have sub-skills (called Inner Skills) that unlock after reaching a certain rank in the parent skill. For example, Blade Sentinel requires Focus Lv3 and Shield Toss Lv3 before it becomes available. Damiane shares the same stat pools (Health, Stamina, Spirit) as Kliff, but her individual skill levels and Inner Skills must be upgraded independently.
Recommended Skills
Based on community testing and combat effectiveness, the following five skills are widely considered the strongest picks for Damiane's build:
Skill | Tree | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
Slows time and enables powerful follow-ups like Blade Sentinel and Shield Sentinel. Core skill for Damiane's kit. | ||
Deploys a defensive sentinel while in Focus mode. Provides both offense and protection during demanding fights. | ||
Ranged attack that bounces up to 3 times. Reliable damage at range and a prerequisite for both Sentinel skills. | ||
Calls down a spear of light for high burst damage. Effective against both single targets and groups. | ||
Quick dodge-and-strike skill with fast recovery. Excellent for weaving damage between enemy attack windows. |
This combination balances Damiane's defensive options through Focus and Shield Sentinel with strong offensive pressure from Shield Toss, Smiting Bolt, and Sword Flurry. Players looking for a starting direction should prioritize investing Abyss Artifacts into these five skills first.
Rapier Lightning Heavy
A rapier heavy attack calls a lightning strike onto the targeted enemy. The upgrade chains a second bolt that does more damage than the first, and both strikes have projectile-style range rather than melee range. Rapier Turning Slash also calls lightning from above, so a rapier build can comfortably lean on ranged damage.
Giant Long Sword Interchange
With a Giant Long Sword, Damiane can swap between light and heavy attacks inside a single combo. A heavy-attack input replaces the first or second hit of the light-attack chain, which lets the combo reach the final light swing faster. Reversing the order is not allowed: you cannot open with a light attack and then splice heavy swings in.
The best short burst with this weapon is heavy, heavy, light: the final light swing fires quickly and it is the one that triggers light-attack proc abyss gears. Holy Explosion is the spinning-slash replacement and has an optional follow-up ground slam when the input is pressed a second time after the initial explosion.
Bouncing Shield and Imbue
The shield throw doubles as Damiane's Force Palm for puzzles. Skill-tree imbue upgrades let it carry lightning or fire damage, and imbue-proc abyss gears fire on cast, not on each bounce. The extra bounces only matter for hitting multiple enemies; single-target encounters effectively only get the first impact plus the imbue proc.
Screwdriver Grapple
The Screwdriver node lets Damiane cancel her kicks into grapples. Her charged kick transitions into a multi-knee strike, and the held drop-kick equivalent followed by the grapple input lifts, spins, and face-plants a target. These grapples do not work on bosses; they are strictly a fun option for clearing through smaller enemies.
Shotgun and Ranged Notes
Her Shotgun fires 10 bullets per shot. Evasive Shot removes the normal reload window unless the trigger is held, so in the right build it turns into a rapid fan-fire. Infinite Arrows cannot be slotted into any of her firearms, only a bow, so every shot still consumes real ammo.
Patch 1.04 Changes
Patch 1.04 is the largest update Damiane's kit has received since launch. It adds two brand-new skills, fixes the long-standing Quick Reload lockout from Chapter 11 onward, and grants Damiane access to Axiom Force abilities that had been exclusive to Kliff. See also Patch Notes for the full cross-character changelog.
New Skills
Ambush is now available to Damiane. Previously a Kliff-only stealth opener, the skill lets Damiane close on an unaware enemy from behind or from cover and trigger a high-damage takedown without raising the alarm. It fits naturally into her fast-movement playstyle and gives her a clean way to thin out patrols before a full engagement. The same patch added Ambush to Oongka, so all three playable characters now share the opener.
Focused Force Palm equivalent is a new Spirit-tree skill with the same effect as Kliff's Focused Force Palm. It channels Axiom energy into a palm strike that shatters the glowing Axiom Force walls guarding treasure rooms, shortcuts, and puzzle chambers. Before the patch, hitting one of those walls meant swapping back to Kliff to continue; after 1.04 Damiane can break them herself. This is the single biggest change to the party-swap flow in the entire patch.
Skill Acquisition Changes
Quick Reload can now be acquired with an Abyss Artifact in addition to Observation Learning. Before 1.04 the skill was strictly observation-only, and because the observation opportunity becomes inaccessible after Chapter 11, players who missed it lost the skill for the rest of the run. The new artifact path fixes that permanent lockout: any player who reaches the artifact cost can purchase Quick Reload from the skill tree directly, regardless of chapter progression or observation status.
Axiom Force Access
Axiom Force is now available to Damiane. In the launch version, Axiom Force abilities, including the teleport-across-gap movement trick and the associated puzzle mechanics, were restricted to Kliff. Patch 1.04 grants Damiane the capability, which means the in-world traversal puzzles that were gated behind a party swap no longer require one. Damiane can now perform Axiom Force skills on her own. See How to Use Axiom Force for the full mechanics, activation inputs, and puzzle categories this affects.
Cross-Character
Oongka received the same additions in Patch 1.04. Both Ambush and the Focused Force Palm equivalent were added to his kit in parallel with Damiane's, so every playable character now shares stealth openers and the ability to shatter Axiom Force walls. Players who swap between characters for build variety can now expect parity on these two pieces of kit. Kliff already had both skills at launch and his unlock paths are unchanged.
Build guides updated by the new skills: Damiane Dual Weapon Build, Damiane Greatsword Build, Damiane Spear Build, Damiane Rapier and Shield Build, Damiane Fire Gunslinger Build, and Build Guide: Damiane. Each build now has the option of opening fights with Ambush instead of a standard approach, and players running Damiane as their primary character no longer need to detour through Kliff for the Axiom Force puzzle content.
