Crane Cape
Crane Cape is a coastal promontory on the eastern edge of Starsand Island. It juts out into the ocean with a lighthouse at its tip and a wooden pier offering scenic views. The area is connected to Half-Moon Bay to the south and Blue Beach to the northwest. While Crane Cape has no shops or NPC residences, it offers multiple treasure chests, a hidden island accessible by swimming, a repairable Bus Stop, shore fishing, and gathering resources. It is one of the quieter regions on the island, making it a popular spot for screenshots and relaxed exploration.
Points of Interest
Feature | Details |
|---|---|
Lighthouse | Tall structure at the tip of the cape. Provides elevated views of the surrounding ocean and nearby islands. One of the best vantage points on the island for spotting the hidden island. |
Pier | A wooden pier extending from the cape's edge. A fixed treasure chest sits at the very end of the pier (Chest #13 on most treasure maps). |
Hidden Island | A small unnamed island visible from the lighthouse. Reachable by swimming east from the tip of the cape. |
Bus Stop | Repairable fast travel stop connecting Crane Cape to the island-wide bus network. Located along the main path into the cape. |
Fishing Spots | Shore fishing along the pier and cape coastline. Standard ocean species available. |
Bus Stop
Crane Cape has one Bus Stop that can be repaired for fast travel access. It requires the standard repair materials:
Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
Stone Brick | 10 |
Glass Pane | 5 |
Softwood Plank | 10 |
Iron Sheet | 5 |
Repairing the Crane Cape stop connects it to the island bus network, allowing 15-coin trips to and from any other repaired Bus Stop. This is particularly useful since Crane Cape is on the eastern edge of the island and would otherwise require a long walk. The bus stop requires completing the Building Starsand Station quest before it becomes available for repair.
Treasure Chests
Crane Cape has multiple treasure chest locations, including fixed spawns, secret chests, and treasure map destinations.
Chest | Location | Type |
|---|---|---|
Pier Chest | At the very end of the wooden pier | Fixed (always present on first visit) |
Lighthouse Chest | Near the base of the lighthouse | Fixed |
Island Chest | On the hidden island across from the cape | Exploration reward |
North Chest | North of the main Crane Cape area | Found via exploration or treasure map |
The pier chest is guaranteed on your first visit and is one of the easiest treasure chests to find in the game. The lighthouse chest requires checking around the base of the structure. The island chest requires swimming to the hidden island (see below). Fixed treasure chests typically contain crafting materials, cooking ingredients, or furniture blueprints.
Secret Chests
Crane Cape may also have secret chest trigger zones, indicated by glowing yellow or gold lights on the ground. When you find one of these spots, a treasure chest appears after you complete a small environmental task, such as a parkour puzzle or interaction challenge. Secret chests reset and can respawn, unlike fixed chests which are one-time only.
The Hidden Island
One of the more interesting secrets in the region is a small unnamed island visible from the lighthouse. The island does not appear labeled on the map, but you can reach it by swimming eastward from the tip of the cape.
To reach the hidden island:
Go to the lighthouse at the tip of Crane Cape.
Look east across the water for the island outline.
Swim directly toward it from the cape's eastern point.
Explore the island for gathering nodes and a treasure chest.
Warning: Swimming drains stamina. Bring food that restores stamina before attempting the crossing. If you run out of stamina in the water, you will pass out and wake up at home the next morning with reduced energy. Eat a stamina-restoring meal right before entering the water to maximize your swimming distance.
The hidden island contains gathering nodes and may have a treasure chest or collectible depending on your exploration progress. It is a common destination for players completing the Explorer profession since visiting unmarked locations contributes to exploration milestones.
Fishing
The pier and coastline at Crane Cape offer shore fishing opportunities. Standard ocean fish species are available from the cape's shores. This is regular shore fishing, not deep-sea fishing; you do not need the Parrot Ship to fish here.
The pier is a convenient spot to cast from, with open water on both sides. Fish caught at Crane Cape follow the same seasonal and time-of-day schedules as other ocean shore locations. Bring the appropriate bait and a rod at or above the Cloud Rod tier for the best results with ocean species.
Resources
Crane Cape has standard surface resources for gathering. The coastal location provides both land and beach-specific items.
Resource | Details |
|---|---|
Softwood | From small trees scattered across the cape |
Stone | From rock nodes along the path and cape surface |
Shells | Beach-specific items found along the shoreline |
Seasonal Foraging | Flowers, herbs, and berries that change with the season |
Bamboo | Not found at Crane Cape; head to the Cloudrest Lake highlands for Bamboo |
There are no mining nodes at Crane Cape. For ores like Copper, Iron, and Gold, head into the Moonlit Forest instead. Crane Cape is best treated as a light gathering and exploration stop rather than a dedicated resource farming area.
Getting There
Crane Cape is accessible on foot from Starsand Town by heading east. The walking distance is moderate. Faster options include:
Bus Stop: Repair the Crane Cape Bus Stop for instant fast travel from any other repaired stop (15 coins per ride).
Vehicle: Ride a Skateboard or other land vehicle along the eastern path.
On foot: Follow the main path east from town, passing through the eastern residential area.
Connections
Direction | Area |
|---|---|
South | Half-Moon Bay (AquaBlue Outpost, Delphin's fishing hub) |
Northwest | Blue Beach (connects back toward central Starsand Town) |
East (swimming) | Hidden island (unnamed, requires stamina for the swim) |
Crane Cape's proximity to Half-Moon Bay makes it a natural extension of a trip to the AquaBlue Outpost. If you are visiting Delphin for Angler profession quests, consider swinging east to Crane Cape to grab treasure chests and gather beach resources on the same trip.
Tips
Check the pier end for a guaranteed treasure chest on your first visit. It is easy to walk past it.
Bring stamina-restoring food before swimming to the hidden island. Running out of stamina in the water means passing out and losing the rest of the day.
Repair the Crane Cape Bus Stop early if you plan to fish or explore the eastern coast regularly. The 15-coin fare saves a long walk.
The lighthouse viewpoint is one of the best spots for photo mode ocean shots. Time your visit for sunset or sunrise for the best lighting.
Crane Cape is a common destination for treasure maps. When a map arrow points east, this region is a likely target.
Combine a Crane Cape visit with a trip to Half-Moon Bay to the south. Both areas are close together and offer different resources and activities.
The hidden island counts toward exploration milestones in the Explorer profession. Visit it at least once to add it to your Islandpedia.
