Overview
Bamboo is a special wood-type resource in Starsand Island, distinct from Softwood, Hardwood, and Premium Wood. It is gathered from bamboo groves and processed into Bamboo Board and Bamboo Strip at the Cutter. Bamboo and its processed forms are used in specific crafting recipes, furniture, and the Bamboo Raft, the earliest water vehicle in the game.
Where to Find
Cloudrest Lake Area: The primary bamboo groves grow around Cloudrest Lake on the northern side of the island, particularly near the Panda House.
Other Groves: Scattered bamboo stalks can also appear in other forested areas of the island.
Chop bamboo stalks with any Axe. Bamboo respawns daily, so the groves near Cloudrest Lake provide a renewable supply.
Processing at the Cutter
Bamboo is processed at the Cutter into two different materials:
Input | Station | Output |
|---|---|---|
Bamboo | Bamboo Board | |
Bamboo | Bamboo Strip |
Crafting Uses
Bamboo and its processed forms appear in several recipes:
Bamboo Raft: The Bamboo Raft is the first water vehicle you can craft, requiring 10x Bamboo Strips. It lets you explore coastal waters.
Bus Stop Construction: The Cloudrest Lake bus stop uniquely requires 10 Bamboo Boards instead of Softwood Planks for construction.
Furniture: Bamboo Strip is used in furniture recipes like the Bamboo Cat Ear Pet Bed (1x Bamboo Strip + 3x Flannel).
Decorations: Various decorative items at the Worktable call for Bamboo Board or Bamboo Strip.
Comparison with Other Wood Types

Tips
Bamboo respawns daily, so mark the Cloudrest Lake groves as a regular harvesting stop.
The Bamboo Raft should be one of your early priorities since it opens up water exploration.
Fresh Bamboo Shoots can also be found near bamboo groves. These are a separate item used as food for Pandas (BooBoo), not for crafting.
Build multiple Cutters to process Bamboo alongside your regular wood to avoid bottlenecks.
