Overview
Panda House is a unique location in Starsand Island situated to the east of Cloudrest Lake. It is the permanent home of Booboo, a special panda NPC who cannot be found anywhere else on the island. The area is characterized by lush bamboo groves, rolling hills, and a cozy house nestled among the greenery. For players interested in animal interactions and collecting unique friendships, Panda House is one of the most memorable stops on the island.
Unlike the animals available through Woof & Wow Pets or the livestock at Green Pasture Ranch, Booboo is a one-of-a-kind NPC with his own friendship progression and interaction set.
Location
Panda House is located on the eastern side of Cloudrest Lake. To reach it, head east from the lake's shoreline and follow the path uphill through a bamboo-lined trail. The house itself is a small, rustic structure partially obscured by the surrounding bamboo groves. A few key landmarks help identify the area:
The path branches off from the main trail that circles Cloudrest Lake.
Bamboo stalks become increasingly dense as you approach the house.
The house sits on a slightly elevated clearing with a view of the lake below.
Fresh bamboo shoots can be spotted growing on the ground along the approach path.
The surrounding hills on the eastern side of Cloudrest Lake also contain bamboo shoots, making the entire area a natural gathering zone for this resource.
Booboo the Panda
Booboo is the resident panda of Panda House. He is not a pet that can be adopted or moved to your Hopeland property. Instead, Booboo remains at Panda House permanently, and your interactions with him happen exclusively at this location.
When you first arrive at Panda House, Booboo will be visible near the house or in the surrounding bamboo groves, but he will not interact with you until you offer him food. Booboo only accepts fresh bamboo shoots as food. Other items, including cooked dishes and general produce, will not interest him.
How to Befriend Booboo
Befriending Booboo is a simple but specific process. Follow these steps:
Gather fresh bamboo shoots from the area around Panda House. They grow on the ground near the house, on the surrounding hills, and along the eastern shoreline of Cloudrest Lake.
Collect at least 15 fresh bamboo shoots for the first feeding. This is the minimum quantity Booboo requires to acknowledge you.
Approach Booboo while holding the bamboo shoots in your hand (equip them from your inventory).
Interact with Booboo to offer the bamboo shoots. He will eat them and his friendship meter will appear.
Return on subsequent days with more bamboo shoots to continue building friendship.
First Feeding Requirement
The first feeding requires 15 fresh bamboo shoots. This is a one-time threshold; subsequent visits require fewer shoots to make progress. After the initial feeding, even 3 to 5 bamboo shoots per visit will advance the friendship meter. The 15-shoot requirement exists to ensure players have genuinely explored the bamboo groves around Panda House before starting the friendship.
Friendship Progression
Booboo's friendship works on a simplified version of the standard friendship system. Each feeding advances the meter by a set amount. The total number of visits required to max out friendship depends on how many bamboo shoots you bring each time, but most players report needing around 8 to 12 visits to reach maximum affection.
Friendship Level | Interaction Unlocked |
|---|---|
Initial (0 hearts) | Booboo ignores you; must offer 15 bamboo shoots to start |
Low (1 heart) | Booboo approaches you when you visit; accepts smaller offerings |
Medium (2 hearts) | Booboo follows you briefly around the area |
High (3 hearts) | Booboo nuzzles you; plays simple games |
Maximum | Full petting and play interactions unlocked |
Maximum Friendship Rewards
After reaching maximum friendship with Booboo, two new interactions become available:
Petting: You can pet Booboo at any time during your visit. The petting animation is unique to Booboo and differs from standard pet interactions.
Playing: A play interaction triggers a short animated sequence where Booboo rolls around and interacts playfully with the player character.
There is no material reward for maxing Booboo's friendship (no unique item, recipe, or blueprint). The reward is purely the interaction itself. For players who enjoy the social and atmospheric side of Starsand Island, the Booboo friendship is one of the most charming experiences the game offers.
Important: Booboo Cannot Be Adopted
Unlike pets purchased from Woof & Wow Pets or animals adopted through other means, Booboo cannot be taken home. He stays at Panda House regardless of your friendship level. This is by design; Booboo is a location-specific NPC rather than a collectible pet. Players who want a panda companion will need to visit Panda House to interact with him.
Bamboo Shoot Gathering
Fresh bamboo shoots are the only item Booboo accepts, so knowing where to find them is essential. They spawn in the following locations:
Around Panda House: Several spawn points exist directly around the house and in the immediate bamboo grove.
Surrounding hills: The hillsides east of Cloudrest Lake have scattered bamboo shoot nodes among the bamboo stalks.
Eastern shore of Cloudrest Lake: A few spawn points sit along the lake's eastern bank, near the path leading up to Panda House.
Bamboo shoots respawn every few in-game days. If you clear all nearby nodes during one visit, return after 2 to 3 days and they will have regrown. It is a good idea to gather bamboo shoots whenever you pass through the Cloudrest Lake area, even if you are not planning to visit Booboo that day. Keeping a stockpile in a chest at home means you always have enough for a visit.
Atmosphere and Scenic Value
Panda House is one of the most visually distinctive locations in Starsand Island. The combination of dense bamboo groves, gentle hill terrain, the nearby lake, and the cozy house creates a peaceful atmosphere that stands apart from the busier town areas and the tense Moonlit Forest. Many players visit Panda House simply to enjoy the scenery and take screenshots.
The location is also a good resting point during exploration of the eastern part of the island. If you are heading to or from eastern landmarks, stopping at Panda House to feed Booboo and gather bamboo shoots is a productive use of travel time.
Tips
Bring at least 15 bamboo shoots on your first visit. Arriving with fewer means you cannot start the friendship and will need to gather more before Booboo acknowledges you.
Visit regularly. Booboo's friendship only advances when you feed him, so consistent visits are more effective than rare large offerings.
Gather bamboo shoots passively whenever you are in the Cloudrest Lake area. Building a reserve means you never need to make a dedicated gathering trip.
Panda House is purely a social and atmospheric location. There are no combat encounters, crafting stations, or shops here.
If you are completing a photography or screenshot collection, Panda House provides some of the best background scenery on the island.
Do not confuse Booboo with adoptable pets from Woof & Wow Pets. Booboo is a permanent NPC resident, not a pet you can take home.
