Overview
The Parrot Ship is a ferry service operated from Starsand Port at Half-Moon Bay. It transports players to three offshore deep-sea fishing zones that cannot be reached by any other means. Each trip costs 30 Coins, and the boat remains stationary at the destination so players can fish directly from it. When finished, speak to the captain to return to shore. The Parrot Ship is the primary way to access rare ocean fish species and the kingfish needed for the Expert Angler quest.
Unlocking the Parrot Ship
The Parrot Ship becomes available after completing the Starsand Port Construction quest given by Marston. This quest involves rebuilding the dilapidated Maritime Bureau at Half-Moon Bay by gathering materials and completing construction tasks. Once the port is rebuilt, the ferrier appears at the dock and the Parrot Ship service activates alongside other port amenities, including the Merchant Ship vendor and yacht rentals.
Destinations
The Parrot Ship offers travel to three distinct deep-sea fishing zones. Each destination has its own pool of regular fish and one exclusive kingfish species. All three zones are accessible year-round, but kingfish have specific time windows.
Destination | Direction | Kingfish | Regular Fish |
|---|---|---|---|
Southeast of the island | Swordfish (King) | Humphead Wrasse, Blue Tang, and others | |
North of the island | Megamouth Shark (King) | Mola Mola, Tuna, and others | |
Southwest of the island | Long-barbelled Dragonfish (King) | Ribbon Eel, Mandarinfish, and others |
Players can visit all three destinations in a single day if they start early enough. Each visit costs 30 Coins separately, so a full tour of all three zones totals 90 Coins.
Kingfish
Kingfish are the rarest and most valuable fish in Starsand Island. Each deep-sea zone has one exclusive kingfish species, and catching them is required for the Expert Angler certification quest assigned by Delphin. The quest requires catching two kingfish total.
Kingfish | Location | Season | Time Window | Bait |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Swordfish (King) | All seasons | 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM | Meat Bait | |
Megamouth Shark (King) | All seasons | 8:00 PM - 2:00 AM | Meat Bait | |
Long-barbelled Dragonfish (King) | All seasons | 8:00 PM - 2:00 AM | Meat Bait |
Kingfish are region-locked, meaning you will only find a specific zone's kingfish at that zone. The Coral Sea Swordfish is often recommended as the easiest to target because it is available during daytime hours across all seasons, giving the widest time window.
Equipment Requirements
Deep-sea fishing does not require a special rod for catching regular fish, but kingfish require at least a Golden Rod (crafted at Worktable II). Using a higher-tier rod like the Noble Rod or an Epic Fishing Rod improves your chances with stronger hooks and better catch rates.
Recommended Perks
Two Angler profession perks are particularly useful for deep-sea fishing:
Perk | Effect |
|---|---|
Rare Bites | Increases your chance of hooking rare fish during the day |
Hooked on Fate | Allows fishing without visible fish shadows in ocean zones |
Without Hooked on Fate, you need to wait for fish shadows to appear before casting. Bringing bait helps maintain active fish spawns and keeps the fishing productive.
Other Port Services
The rebuilt Starsand Port also offers additional maritime services beyond the Parrot Ship:
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Yacht Rental | Rent a yacht for 150 Coins per hour. Useful for open-water exploration and casual fishing in the surrounding ocean. |
Speedboat | Available at the end of the pier. Once purchased, the speedboat can be re-summoned through the Travel app on your phone. |
A trading vessel that buys items at double the standard vendor price. The Merchant Ship inventory refreshes every Monday and accepts a limited selection of goods. |
Tips
Bring plenty of bait and food before heading out. Fishing drains 10 stamina per catch, and there is no way to restock while at sea.
For kingfish hunting, check the time of day before paying for the trip. Coral Sea kingfish are daytime only (6 AM to 6 PM), while Luminwave and Celestwave kingfish only appear at night (8 PM to 2 AM).
If you are visiting all three zones in one day, start with Coral Sea in the morning, then travel to Luminwave and Celestwave after 8 PM.
Regular fish at these zones sell for significantly more than coastal catches, making deep-sea fishing a solid income source even without catching kingfish.
