Starsand Station
Starsand Station is the central fast travel hub on Starsand Island. Covers the Building Starsand Station quest walkthrough (materials, crafting stations, step-by-step), the 10-stop bus network with repair costs, using fast travel, progression requirements, crossover character arrivals from the My Time series, and Moonlit Forest fast travel.
Overview
Starsand Station is the central fast travel hub on Starsand Island. It functions as both a narrative landmark and the primary node in the island's bus stop network. Once built, the station enables players to instantly teleport between 10 fixed locations across the island for a small gold fee. Starsand Station is also where the crossover characters from the My Time series first arrive on the island.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Step 1: Talk to Solara
Find Solara at or near the Community Center (she is usually there in the mornings). She explains that the island needs a train station and directs you to find Railway Worker Yang near the beach.
Step 2: Find Yang
Locate Yang near the beach at the station construction site. Speak with him to learn what materials and supplies are needed.
Step 3: Cook 4 Soup Dumplings
Yang asks you to feed the construction crew. Cook 4 Soup Dumplings and deliver them to Yang. The recipe requires the following ingredients per serving:
Ingredient | Per Dumpling | Total (x4) | How to Obtain |
|---|---|---|---|
2 | 8 | Process any meat (Pork, Fowl, Mutton, or Beef) in a Separator | |
3 | 12 | Process Wheat in a Separator; Wheat is grown from Wheat Seeds |
Cook the Soup Dumplings at a Campfire or Gas Stove. The Soup Dumplings recipe is unlocked by completing the New Finny Roommates quest, or it can be purchased from Aureleaf Kitchen.
Step 4: Deliver Construction Materials
After feeding the crew, Yang requests the following construction materials:
Material | Quantity | Raw Input | |
|---|---|---|---|
Stone Brick | 5 | Furnace I | Stone + Charcoal |
5 | Cutter I | Glass Brick (smelted from Quartzite at Furnace) | |
Softwood Plank | 5 | Cutter I | Softwood |
Iron Sheet | 5 | Cutter II | Iron Ingot (smelted from Iron Ore at Furnace II) |
Deliver all materials to Yang to complete the quest. The station will be built and the bus stop system becomes available.

Crafting Station Requirements
Make sure you have the following crafting stations built and upgraded before starting this quest:
Station | Used For | How to Obtain |
|---|---|---|
Basic recipe; available from the start | ||
Processing Flour from Wheat; Meat Bites from meat | Free Equipment Blueprint Pack at Zerine's General Store | |
Furnace I | Smelting Stone Bricks, Glass Bricks | Free Equipment Blueprint Pack |
Furnace II | Smelting Iron Ingots from Iron Ore | Upgrade from Zerine's shop or Crafter profession |
Cutter I | Free Equipment Blueprint Pack | |
Cutter II | Processing Iron Sheets from Iron Ingots | Upgrade from Zerine's shop or Crafter profession |
Producing Charcoal (needed for smelting) | Free Equipment Blueprint Pack |
Bus Stop Network
There are 10 bus stops scattered across the island, marked with a train icon on the map. All stations are interconnected: once repaired, you can travel from any active stop to any other active stop. At least two stops must be operational before the system becomes usable.
Stop | Area | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Starsand Station | Central hub, main town | Built during the quest (no repair needed) |
East Hopeland | Near player's farm | Standard materials |
Ranch area | Standard materials | |
Northwest, near Zephyria | Standard materials | |
East Starsand | Eastern island | Standard materials |
Coastal area | Standard materials | |
Southeast, near Delphin | Standard materials | |
Port area, near Marston | Standard materials | |
North Starsand | Northern island | Standard materials |
Mountainous inland area | Unique materials: uses Bamboo Boards instead of Softwood Planks |
Repair Materials
Each bus stop must be individually repaired with materials before it becomes active. Nine of the ten stops use the same standard material set. Cloudrest Lake is the only exception.
Material | Standard Stops (each) | |
|---|---|---|
Stone Bricks | 10 | 10 |
Glass Panes | 5 | 5 |
10 | N/A | |
Bamboo Boards | N/A | 10 |
Iron Sheets | 5 | 5 |
Repairing all 9 stops requires a total of 90 Stone Bricks, 45 Glass Panes, 80 Softwood Planks, 10 Bamboo Boards, and 45 Iron Sheets. This is a significant mid-game resource investment, so most players repair stops gradually as they explore new areas.
Using the Network
To use fast travel, walk to any operational bus stop and interact with it. A list of all other active stops appears, and you can select your destination for instant teleportation. You cannot fast travel from the map menu; you must physically be at a station to use the system.
Detail | Information |
|---|---|
Travel Cost | Approximately 15 Gold per trip |
Travel Time | Instant teleportation |
Restrictions | Must be physically at a bus stop to use it |
Minimum Requirement | At least 2 stops must be active before the system works |
Progression Connection
Starsand Station and the bus stop network are deeply integrated into the Island Life progression system. Building all 10 stations is one of the requirements for reaching the Starsand Legend rank, the final progression tier, which also unlocks access to Windflute Island.
Requirement | Description | |
|---|---|---|
Get on Board Now! | Build your first bus stop | "Toot toot! All aboard!" |
Road Master | Build all 9 bus stops | "Go wherever you want, whenever you want." |
For endgame players, Teleporters serve as an alternative to bus stops. Unlike the fixed bus stop locations, Teleporters can be placed anywhere on the island and are free to use. However, they require rare endgame materials including Eternal Alloy, a Perpetual Reactor, and a Spirit Cube III.
Crossover Character Arrivals
Starsand Station is the arrival point for all crossover characters from the My Time series:
Gust and Ginger (My Time at Portia): Arrive on Summer 23rd after the station is built. The player receives mail from Solara about their visit and must go to the station to pick them up.
Fang and Nia (My Time at Sandrock): Arrive on the first day of Autumn. Players must visit the station to find them.
Moonlit Forest Fast Travel
The Moonlit Forest has its own separate fast travel system using restored camps rather than bus stops. Camp fast travel is unlocked by repairing Moonweavers with Fluorite. The bus stop network does not extend into the Moonlit Forest; traveling between the main island and the forest requires going through a loading screen.
Known Issues
Quest keeps restarting: Some players have reported the quest reactivating after completion, with an "ask what's wrong" variant appearing days later. Completing it a second time resolves the issue.
Flour bottleneck: Players who focused on crafting or exploration without developing farming may get stuck without Wheat. Use Fertilizer II as a workaround to grow Wheat quickly.

Tips
Prioritize repairing the bus stop nearest your home first, then one near the mines or town center to cover your most frequent routes.
The Soup Dumplings for the quest require Flour, which means you need access to Wheat and a Separator. If you have not unlocked flour production yet, plant Wheat early and use Fertilizer II to speed up growth.
A Skateboard (crafted item) provides free movement speed across the island and complements the bus network well for shorter trips.
Mounts can also be rented from NPCs for quick travel between nearby areas.
Stock up on Flour early. Even if you are not pursuing the Farmer profession, grow Wheat and make Flour in advance. It is needed for this quest and many cooking recipes.
Use Fertilizer II to speed Wheat growth. Fertilizer II (found from NPCs or in caves) reduces Wheat growth time to about 2 minutes, saving significant time.
Build multiple Cutters. Softwood Planks are one of the most-used materials in the game. Running 2-3 Cutters in parallel saves a lot of time.
Iron Sheets require Cutter II and Furnace II. Make sure you have progressed far enough in the Crafter profession or Zerine's shop to unlock these upgrades before starting.
Soup Dumplings grant the Forest's Gift buff (chance to recover ammo and find ore chunks), making them useful beyond this quest, especially in the Moonlit Forest.
